Ancient Wizards: A Little Progress Every Day

Chapter 154 Hunting the Great Ice Serpent

Dago gently picked up a blue diamond earring. The earring, held in his hand, emitted a faint spatial energy fluctuation.

His eyes flickered, a strange light appearing in them as he looked at the earring. The blue diamond earring was an ice-type magical item, but it also had a certain spatial storage capacity.

Dago gently tapped the earring, and a spatial ripple spread out, revealing a dazzling array of suit pieces before him.

The chest armor, shoulder armor, wrist guards, belt, boots, headband, and blue diamond earrings make up a total of six pieces, all of which are second rings!

This is an extremely rare set of ice-type magic items!

"Avery really thinks highly of me."

Dago casually picked up a shoulder armor piece and said with a wry smile, "To wear this set of magical artifacts, you have to activate six second-circle magical artifacts simultaneously. Is that something a typical second-circle wizard can do?"

All pieces of the set are made from a special magical alloy that feels light and has a slight coolness to the touch.

Each component is light blue, covered with silver patterns, and each piece appears exquisite and magnificent. The headband is a beautiful violet flower wreath with a diamond-shaped crystal set in the center.

Dago found inscriptions on the inside of the two shoulder armor plates—"Eternal Night" on the left and "Frost Mark" on the right.

"Frosty Marks of Eternal Night!"

Dago softly uttered the four words, seemingly lost in thought, "Is that the name of this set of magical artifacts?"

He slowly channeled his spiritual power into the shoulder armor in his hand, attempting to activate it. The six magical artifact components were enchanted with similar yet distinct runes, each independent of the others, yet seemingly able to be pieced together into a whole, which was quite peculiar.

As mental energy was injected, the two shoulder armor plates in Dago's hands began to glow, float, and then gently and actively fasten onto his shoulders.

The exquisite patterns on the shoulder armor seemed to come alive, and then a thick layer of energy crystals, as if made of ice diamonds, quickly grew, extending along the edges of the shoulder armor until it completely covered Dago's shoulders and neck.

At the same time, deep blue light waterfalls burst forth from the back of both shoulder armors. These waterfalls were stable and long, like countless ice crystals falling, hanging down to Dago's ankles. They served as a barrier protecting his vest, and also resembled a magnificent cloak.

As Dago felt the effects of activating the shoulder armor, his perception and control over the ice element were significantly enhanced, which meant that the power of his ice spells would be correspondingly increased.

If each piece of this set of magical artifacts has the same effect, and all pieces are worn and activated, Dago's ice spells should be two to three times more powerful, at least!

There might be additional bonuses once you collect the complete set.

Dago slowly withdrew his mental energy, placed the two shoulder armor pieces back on the table, and then put them all back into the blue diamond earring.

He could foresee that his combat strength was about to undergo an unprecedented transformation, and this change would not be limited to the internal aspects.

For truly top-tier wizarding geniuses, what sets them apart from their peers, besides talent, strength, willpower, and temperament, is also the importance of their magical artifacts and equipment.

Dago is slowly catching up with all of this, until he becomes what he is meant to be.

Outside the window, the wind and snow continued. Under the bright and soft lighting of the crystal, Dago took out the silver-white Illusionary Dream Sphere.

A serene, pale purple light rose, like the starry sky. He gently touched the point of light, stepped into it, and entered a realm of enlightenment within the dreamlike world.

Avery returned to the estate on the afternoon of the third day.

The day after he returned, he took Dago and left again in a hurry.

Dago was enveloped by a massive spiritual force and energy flow, as if he were being carried by a blazing sun, as he traveled through the wind, snow, clouds, and mist.

Beneath our feet, the vast snow-capped mountains swept by one after another. Before we knew it, we had left the ice castle and ventured deep into the primeval snow forest behind the ice.

"Facing a third-ring wizard, I'm afraid I wouldn't even have a chance to run away now."

Dago thought to himself.

After an unknown amount of time, Avery's voice rang in his ears.

"It's around here."

The two figures began to descend downwards.

Dagger saw that below was a forest completely covered in snow.

There seemed to be people in the forest; Dago's exceptional hearing allowed him to faintly hear the voices of more than one person.

"The three strongest existing wizard families in Ice Fortress have joined forces to set up a rune array to surround this area, just in case the three-ringed ice serpent escapes."

Avery led Dago closer to the source of the voices, instructing him, "You wait here. The effect is best when the monster's blood essence is at its most active. Once we catch that giant ice serpent, I'll have them extract the blood on the spot. You can prepare for the transplant here. I've prepared everything."

"Thank you, Grandpa Avery."

Dago thought for a moment and asked, "What do I need to do?"

"You? You don't need to do anything. Just stay put, don't put yourself in danger, and make sure I can find you anytime."

Avery solemnly warned him, "Three-ring magical beasts are dangerous enough, let alone the Great Ice Serpent that has awakened a trace of the ancient winter dragon bloodline. If those old guys hadn't been well-prepared and hadn't planned for this for a long time, I wouldn't even want to participate in this hunt."

"Remember not to get too close. If you're curious, just observe from a distance."

"clear."

Dago nodded, and the two of them had already arrived above where the voices were coming from.

Looking down, one could see a group of wizards gathered in the forest below, their strength generally around the first or second ring, and most of them were middle-aged or older. Only five or six young men and women stood in the center of the group, and they seemed to be of extraordinary status.

These people were all wearing light gray robes with a few streaks of blue, with a conspicuous symbol on them—a small silver snake with its body twisted into an almost "S" shape, indicating that they should be from the same wizarding family.

"They are the people responsible for guarding this side."

Avery glanced briefly at the crowd below and said to Dagger in a flat tone, "They're all mediocre people. If you don't want the hassle, you can completely ignore them."

Dago's gaze swept over the few young men and women who were the center of attention in the crowd below. His eyes met briefly with one of them, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration.

Among them were a few young second-ring wizards; there are so many heroes in the world.

A second-ring wizard of this age would at least be considered a third-ring rank in the Thorn Ring, but in Avery's words, he was just an unremarkable mediocre talent.

"The bloodline of this giant ice serpent has awakened in a very strange way, without any warning. There also seems to be no trace of ancient ruins near its lair. The harvest of this hunt may be unexpected."

Dago heard Avery talking to himself. He squinted and kept looking in one direction, which he guessed was where the giant ice serpent had appeared.

Avery gave Dago a few more instructions before turning and flying off alone.

Dago controlled his body and slowly fell from mid-air.

He had expected to wait a long time in boredom, but to his surprise, a huge bang came from the direction where Avery had disappeared.

"boom!"

Dago quickly took to the air, his body floating upwards.

A huge white wave spread towards Dago from afar, seemingly slowly but actually quickly. It was the undulating waves of forest and the snow that collapsed rapidly as the trees swayed.

Dago saw a beam of light shoot into the sky in the distance, several huge rune marks flashed across the sky, followed by the intense light of a high-level spell.

Even from this distance, one can still feel the immense energy pressure rolling in that area, and the surging flow of energy particles.

"roar--"

Suddenly, a long, deep roar came from behind, like the hiss of a python or the roar of some ferocious beast.

The voice contained an ancient and inexplicable power that Dago had never felt in any other magical beast's voice, causing an uncontrollable sense of unease to rise in his heart.

"A great ice serpent with the bloodline of the ancient winter dragon!"

A strange light flickered in Dago's eyes, a deep blue gleaming within them.

His eyes were fixed on the direction from which the sound came, and soon he saw the outline of a huge serpentine creature appear amidst the flashing lights and billowing dust.

Faintly visible, one could see that the snake-like creature was covered with rings of deep blue, crystalline scales around its neck, below its head, and had four small bulges on its abdomen.

Before Dago could observe more closely

"Roar! Roar—"

Two more roars followed, much weaker than the first, but the same sense of majesty remained.

Dago's body trembled slightly, and his eyes involuntarily widened in shock.

"More than one?!" He couldn't help but start to worry about Avery's safety.
