Ancient Wizards: A Little Progress Every Day

Chapter 156 Battle Situation and Resurgence

The next second, Dago was blocked by a figure. The man, who was in the mid-stage of the second ring and was close to the late stage, blocked his way. The powerful mental energy fluctuations were released without restraint, like a dense shadow that was rapidly expanding.

"You're one of the key tasks for today, kid."

The man in the black robe looked down at Dago, his thin black lips pressed tightly together, his expression cold, and his voice seemed to come from his abdomen.

"The master said that I must treat you well."

Unexpectedly, this group of black-robed figures came specifically to target him. Dago did not recall ever provoking any black-robed figures when he came to the Ice Fortress. Could it be something from a much earlier time?

After he finished speaking, two points of black diamond-like light suddenly shot out from his eyes. He mobilized his enormous mental power, and a surging black wave appeared out of thin air, releasing terrifying magical energy pressure, which quickly swept towards Dago.

Just before that, he had used this dark magic to overwhelm the second-circle wizards of that core group, making it almost impossible for them to breathe.

Even now, when the silver-haired, round-faced youth and the others see the black-robed man make his move, a deep shadow still lingers in their minds. Their scalps tingle, and they instinctively retreat, even though the spell wasn't directed at them.

Faced with the surging black waves that transformed into all sorts of bizarre and grotesque shapes, Dago seemed to ignore them, his figure remaining perfectly straight, without deviating from his trajectory even slightly.

A slender, fair arm rose from beneath the robe, and Dago made a forward, horizontal slashing motion.

White, fluid-like activated ice crystals flowed along his arm, bursting from his fingertips and gradually transforming into a dazzling silver-white, like hot silver molten metal splashed at will. Upon contact with the air, the ice crystals instantly cooled and solidified, eventually forming a huge, cold, and beautiful crescent-shaped blade.

After the ice crystal blade appeared, it hovered in the air for a short time, and an invisible force continued to accumulate rapidly. When it reached a certain peak, countless mysterious energies burst out from the silver-white blade and transformed into a blazing, dark blue flame.

Without any hesitation or obstruction, the surging black magical wave was silently torn apart, and the ice crystal blades wrapped in azure flames approached the black-robed man in the blink of an eye.

The black-robed man's pupils contracted slightly, and for the first time, a change in expression appeared on his deathly pale face, which had been as stiff and numb as a corpse.

He flew backward, and one energy shield after another rose around his body, but they were easily cut through like brittle paper by the ever-approaching ice flame blades.

In a sudden moment, a strong sense of alarm arose from the black-robed man's heart. He saw the dark blue flames burning fiercely on the huge crescent-shaped silver blade in front of him completely subside in less than half a second, and were replaced by one bright and dazzling white light after another.

The entire massive crescent-shaped blade seemed to be continuously heated by some force, trembling violently, and constantly on the verge of exploding in an extremely unstable state!

"not good!"

The man in black robes tensed up, and two jet-black spheres instantly appeared in his hands, which he crushed with a sharp blow.

"boom!"

The enormous crescent-shaped blade exploded into a dazzling and magnificent cloud of ice and snow fireworks, the terrifying energy aftershocks of the explosion reverberating through the void and stirring up wave after wave of violent turbulence.

Along with the ice and snow fireworks, a thick, black, solid wall appeared, enveloping the man in black robes like an eggshell. It directly withstood the power of the exploding ice blades, swaying but remaining unmoved.

"Click—"

The eggshell-like black crystal wall broke open, and a cold-looking man in a black robe strode out. A terrifying aura emanated from him, blowing his pure black robe, making him look incredibly chilling.

However, before his imposing aura could last long, it froze along with the light in his eyes.

Suddenly, a tall and slender figure appeared, almost touching him.

The figure strode through the void step by step, the air beneath his feet seemingly turning into a frozen lake, with deep blue veins extending outwards.

A spinning, frozen sphere filled with intense coldness, and a pure white ice blade radiating endless chill and sharpness, spun rapidly around him, the auras of two different types of magic intertwined.

The black-robed man's tightly pursed lips involuntarily parted slightly, and time seemed to stretch out infinitely at that moment.

He watched helplessly as the figure worshipped by the frost quietly approached him and stepped past him with a light step.

In the instant he passed by, the two magical domains overlapped, and the power of ice silently spread, gently enveloping him.

An indescribable, extreme chill, like a millennia-old glacier suddenly bursting open, instantly engulfed the black-robed man in a torrent of pure white, frigid air.

When all the deep blue and white, and the chill, disappeared, a huge, mountain-like block of ice quietly floated in mid-air. Inside the ice, a figure in black robes remained frozen, his expression one of shock and disbelief.

The ice block fell silently, making a loud thud as it hit the ground.

As for Dago, who was fighting him, he had already appeared in the sky at a great distance, and was now just a small black dot.

Throughout the entire journey, his route remained unchanged, always maintaining a straight line forward.

He overcame the obstacle posed by the man in black robes as if he had merely kicked away a small stone in his path; the entire exchange of spells took no more than two rounds.

The vast battlefield fell into a deathly silence.

Occasionally, snow would slide off the treetops, accompanied by the soft cracking sound of frost breaking.

No one spoke. The family wizards of Ice Castle, as well as all the black-robed wizards, were enveloped in an immense sense of shock and remained silent.

The group of young core members of the family, led by the silver-haired, round-faced youth, were all stunned, staring blankly in the direction Dago had left. Only one thought was churning in their minds: "This...this really is a newcomer to the Huntington family?!"

.................

.......

On a steep, rugged mountain peak, covered with a thin layer of snow and surrounded by low white pines, a tall, red-haired woman stood atop the peak, gazing into the distance at the turbulent, roaring battlefield of the Third Ring Road.

"call--"

A figure descended from the sky, leaving invisible ripples in the air beneath its feet, and landed step by step beside the woman.

"You've arrived."

The red-haired woman glanced at the newcomer and greeted him casually.

The latter gave a soft "hmm," reached out and removed the black cloak from his head, revealing a young, pale man's face with short green hair; his features were neither handsome nor ugly.

But his pure, blood-red eyes, the exquisite and intricate red runes on his face, and the innate evil aura between his brows added an indescribable and powerful charm to his otherwise ordinary appearance.

"How is the situation?"

The young man asked the woman beside him in a low voice, while his gaze was fixed on the battle ahead.

His wine-red eyes reflected the magical light bursting forth from the battle, as well as the shadowy figures of two enormous, deep blue snakes swaying and twisting.

"I've checked."

The red-haired woman replied, "You're unlucky. What you wanted has already been devoured by those two giant ice serpents. If you could catch them, you might be able to extract a little bit of it from their flesh and blood. However, several third-ring wizards from the local family are hunting down those two giant ice serpents. It will be quite difficult to snatch it from them."

"Four of them are from the Third Ring Road."

The young man narrowed his eyes, a slight glint in them, and after a long while said in a low voice, "Adding a third-ring magical beast to the mix, the difficulty is indeed not small. Then forget it."

The young man withdrew his gaze from the distance and said calmly, "I just happened to be passing by and didn't really need anything important. Let's gather everyone and leave."

"Um."

The red-haired woman nodded and was about to leave when the young man in front of her seemed to discover something that surprised him. Looking at a slightly glowing communication stone in his hand, he let out a soft "Eh."

The red-haired woman asked, "What's wrong?"

The young man's eyes flickered, and he shook his head with a smile: "It's nothing, I just discovered something very interesting. The Dark Blood Council's plan was thwarted in a small place by a wizard boy, and I didn't expect to run into him here again."

"Although I've never met him, the Blood Mother almost destroyed him when she was still an embryo, so she holds a deep grudge against him."

The young man took a deep breath and sighed softly with a look of rapture, "I can almost picture him being bitten by the Blood Mother, the wonderful scene of the juices seeping out."

"Watch out, the wind's strong and you might bite your tongue!"

The red-haired woman reminded him expressionlessly, "Speaker Uriah, think about Macaulay, whom you trampled underfoot. When you first joined Aria, he saw you as nothing more than an insignificant nobody."

"Yeah?"

The young man, Uria, smiled broadly and said, "It would be quite interesting if something like that really happened."

He walked back the way he came, stepping higher and higher into the air, and sighed softly, "There are so few interesting things in this world. The Dark Crystal Plateau is starting to feel boring and tedious to me now. No pressure, no opponents. Do you understand me, Rebecca?"

The red-haired woman, Rebecca, caught up with the young man and spoke quickly.

"Once the Mirror Forest opens, your emptiness will be filled and satisfied."

"Let's hope so!"

With a soft sigh from Uriah, the two figures rapidly disappeared into the distance.
