The Wizard of Truth: Starting with Analyzing All Things

Chapter 27 Breaking the Illusion and Counterattacking

The enforcement team's headquarters were located in a separate, austere stone tower on the west side of the castle. The atmosphere here was completely different from the bustling apothecary and the tranquil library. An invisible sense of oppression and grimness permeated the air, and the walls were faintly visible with dried dark stains, the traces left by violators who had been punished over the generations.

After explaining his purpose, Lowe met "Viper" Quincy in an undecorated interrogation room with only a metal table and two chairs.

Quincy, true to his name, was tall and thin, with pale skin and narrow eyes that gleamed with a cold, cunning light, like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows. He wore a crisp black law enforcement uniform, a silver fang badge representing his captain's rank pinned to his chest, and his aura clearly reached the peak of the **Advanced Apprentice** level, just a step away from becoming a quasi-wizard. He sized up Rowe, a hint of undisguised mockery playing on his lips.

"Love's apprentice? What a rare sight." Quincy's voice had an unsettlingly slick quality. "What, are you here to plead for that good-for-nothing Kyle Greyfeather? I advise you to save your breath. Caught red-handed, the evidence is irrefutable, he's finished."

Rowe sat down opposite him expressionlessly: "Captain Quincy, I'm not here to plead for you. I just have some questions about the so-called 'ironclad evidence' and want to understand the situation. After all, Senior Kyle is in charge of the Seventh Laboratory, and his affairs will more or less affect the operation of the workshop."

"Questions?" Quincy scoffed, pulling a sealed evidence box from under the table. He opened it, revealing several bottles of shimmering, purified essence of calming incense, and several bottles of high-grade meditation potions with ornate labels. "Look at this, top-quality purified essence, rarely seen on the market. And these 'Soul Whispers' potions, each one incredibly valuable, all taken from Kyle's private locker! The stolen goods are right here, our people saw the transaction. What more questions do you have?"

He leaned forward, his voice carrying a menacing tone: "Or... do you think our enforcement team would wrongly accuse a mere mid-level apprentice?"

An invisible pressure of mental energy surged towards Luo Wei like a tidal wave, carrying both provocation and warning. If he were an ordinary mid-level apprentice, his mind would probably have already wavered.

But Lowe merely raised an eyebrow slightly, a warm glow flowing from the [Moonlight Amulet] on his chest, instantly dispelling the oppressive aura. He calmly looked at the evidence box: "Captain Quincy, may I examine these pieces of evidence more closely?"

A flicker of surprise crossed Quincy's eyes; he hadn't expected Rowe to withstand his mental pressure so easily. He scoffed, "See? But don't try anything funny. All this evidence is on file. You can't afford to take responsibility for any damage."

Luo Wei ignored his threat and reached for a bottle of concentrated essence. The bottle was a standard crystal bottle, and the liquid inside was an extremely pure, pale blue color with a hint of starlight—this was the extremely high quality achieved by his optimized purification process, far exceeding the academy's standard.

He observed seemingly casually, but deep within his consciousness, his "Analytical Mind" was already operating at full capacity, and his "Eye of Insight" had quietly opened. His gaze pierced through the crystal bottle, no longer focusing on the liquid itself, but meticulously scanning the bottle, the stopper, the label... every single detail!

**[Scan: High-Quality Concentrated Fragrance Extract]**

**[Energy Structure: Stable, purity 92.7%, confirmed to originate from an optimized purification process.]**

**[Container Analysis: Standard workshop-style crystal bottle with minor scratches on the bottom (not natural signs of use, possibly intentional abrasion to remove original markings?). Trace amounts of 'shadow moss' spores are present on the inside of the stopper (not a common environmental contaminant found in the workshop and Laboratory 7).]**

Shadow moss? That's a type of moss that grows in extremely dark, damp environments, often associated with negative energy, and is commonly found in underground black markets or abandoned ruins. The environment of the workshop and Laboratory Seven could never possibly produce these spores naturally!

Without showing any emotion, Luo Wei picked up another bottle of "Soul Whisper" potion. He had heard of this potion before; it was a high-end product produced by a few large potion merchants, capable of slightly enhancing meditation efficiency, but it was very expensive.

**[Scan: Soul Whisper Potion (Imitation?)]**

**[Energy Structure: Stable surface, with subtle uneven distribution of internal energy particles (a characteristic of non-standard refining processes).]**

**[Container and Label Analysis: The bottle material is slightly inferior to the genuine product standard; the label printing has extremely subtle color differences; and the anti-counterfeiting rune structure has a 0.3% deviation (suspected high-precision counterfeit). A faint residual mark of mental energy was detected near the edge of the label's back (not a characteristic of Kyle's mental energy, but at approximately the level of an advanced apprentice, possessing concealment and misleading properties).]**

It's a counterfeit! And someone cleverly left a mental imprint on the label! This imprint isn't for anti-counterfeiting purposes; it's more like a... confirmation mark after locating or planting a fake!

Quincy, watching Rowe silently observe the bottle, impatiently tapped the table: "Have you seen enough, Rowe apprentice? If you don't have solid evidence to prove Kyle's innocence, please don't waste my time. I'm busy."

Lowe slowly put down the medicine bottle, raised his head, and looked sharply at Quincy: "Captain Quincy, I do have a few questions."

"Oh?" Quincy leaned back in his chair with a leisurely air, looking at Quincy with an expression that said, "Let's see what other tricks you can pull."

"First," Luo Wei pointed to the concentrated essence, "the quality of these essences is extremely high, far exceeding the academy's standards. As far as I know, the Seventh Laboratory has indeed improved its material processing efficiency and quality recently, but the purity of this batch of essences seems abnormally high, more like the use of some... unique, undocumented new purification technique. I'm curious, where did Senior Kyle learn this technique? Did the enforcement team trace the source of this technique during their investigation?"

Quincy's eyes narrowed slightly, but he immediately retorted, "We don't care how he learned it, we only care about the stolen goods!"

"Secondly," Rowe ignored him, picking up the bottle of "Soul Whisper" potion, "this potion, as far as I know, is quite expensive. Given Kyle's income and family background, he probably can't afford it. Has the enforcement team investigated his financial dealings to confirm his ability to purchase it? Or... are these potions not even his?"

"Of course we investigated!" Quincy said curtly. "The financial transactions were indeed suspicious, but that only further suggests he may have profited through illegal means!"

"Illegal means?" A cold smile curled at the corner of Luo Wei's lips. "Then the third point, and the most crucial one..."

His gaze pierced Quincy like a scalpel: "Captain Quincy, when and where did your enforcement team receive the intelligence and raid that black market location? Who was the informant? Where did the 'unidentified businessman' who traded with Kyle go when you arrested him? Why is the enforcement team's report so vague about this person, and why didn't they make a full effort to investigate him?"

A barrage of questions rained down on Quincy, each one pointing directly to a critical flaw in the case!

Quincy's expression finally changed. He slammed his hand on the table and stood up abruptly, shouting, "Love! Are you questioning the law enforcement team's procedures?! Informant information is confidential! That businessman is cunning; he got away! These are not things an apprentice like you should be concerned with!"

"Is that so?" Lowe slowly stood up, meeting Quincy's gaze without fear. "Then let me ask another question. Captain Quincy, can you explain why there are spores of 'Shadow Moss' on this batch of 'stolen goods' that are key evidence? These spores usually only appear in certain specific, dark places. And..."

He picked up the bottle of "Soul Whisper" potion, his voice icy: "Why is there a unique mark left on the label of this valuable potion by someone using mental power? And the mental characteristics of this mark... seem very similar to those of one of your team members, who excels at tracking and stealth?"

Upon hearing this, Quincy's face instantly turned extremely ugly! He hadn't expected that Rowe's perception would be so sharp that he could even detect such subtle spore residues and mental imprints!

"You...you're talking nonsense!" Quincy was both shocked and furious. His aura, that of a peak Advanced Apprentice, suddenly erupted as he tried to forcefully suppress Rowe. "You dare slander a law enforcement officer?!"

"Whether it's slander or not, an investigation will tell." Despite the other party's imposing aura, Luo Wei stood ramrod straight, the Moonlight Amulet radiating light and dissolving the pressure. "I can request the Elder Council to dispatch an independent appraisal wizard to re-examine these evidence items, including spore origin analysis and tracing the source of the spiritual imprints! I believe the Elder Council will be very interested in the presence of law enforcement officers' spiritual imprints on the 'stolen goods'!"

He's deliberately trying to escalate the situation! He's going to take it all the way to the council of elders!

Quincy was completely panicked. He had originally thought that he could easily control Kyle with the "ironclad evidence" and also give Rowe a warning, but he didn't expect Rowe to be so unpredictable. Not only did Rowe see through the flaws in the evidence, but he also dared to directly threaten to report the matter to higher-ups! Once the independent investigation was launched, his framing would likely be exposed! At that point, not only would he not be able to keep his position as captain, but he might even be in danger himself!

"You...you..." Quincy pointed at Lowe, trembling with anger, but was speechless for a moment.

Just then, the interrogation room door opened, and Barton and Lilith walked in. Barton nodded slightly to Rowe, while Lilith spoke directly:

"Captain Quincy, we've just discovered that the recent batch of high-quality calming incense concentrate circulating in the market has a very concentrated distribution route, ultimately pointing to several merchant guilds with close ties to 'Grey Tower.' Furthermore, regarding the several types of advanced meditation potions that were considered 'stolen goods,' we compared recent theft records within the academy with black market circulation records and found that their batch numbers perfectly match a batch of supplies reported missing by the logistics department last month!"

The stolen supplies from the logistics department ended up in Kyle's locker as "stolen goods"!

Ironclad evidence? At this moment, it seems more like a joke riddled with flaws!

Quincy's face went from red to white, then from white to ashen. He knew he was completely finished. Not only had they found a flaw in the evidence, but they'd also uncovered the entire chain of events behind it all!

Looking at Quincy's ashen face, Lowe said coldly, "Captain Quincy, do you still think this is 'ironclad evidence'? Perhaps you should think about how to explain to the elder deacon why you were so eager, even resorting to framing, to solidify Kyle's guilt? Who is behind you?"

He didn't look at Quincy again, but turned to Barton and Lilith and said, "Let's go to the elder deacon and report our 'discovery'."

The three men left the interrogation room, leaving Quincy slumped in a chair, his face covered in cold sweat, his eyes filled with fear and despair.

He knew he was finished. And the name Luo Wei, along with the terrifying insight and ruthless methods he had displayed today, would spread throughout the entire academy even faster.

This time, Lowe not only saved Kyle, but also used an almost tyrannical approach to declare to all the forces that were secretly watching that he was not to be trifled with!

If you want to harm him and the people around him, be prepared to have a piece of your flesh torn off!
