The Wizard of Truth: Starting with Analyzing All Things
Chapter 94 The Return Journey: Reflections and New Markers on the Star Chart
The energy storm in the core control room of the Starry Sky Temple completely subsided, leaving only the faint but steady pulse of the Sphere of All Consciousness, like the heart of a weary behemoth. The air was filled with the acrid smell of energy overload and a faint sadness. Malbas's sacrifice weighed heavily on everyone's hearts, but it also brought an unprecedented sense of urgency—the shadow of the Silent Court was far closer and colder than they had imagined.
"We cannot linger here. The soul of the temple has fallen into slumber, and the defense system is shut down, but the Silent Court may have other tricks up its sleeve." Instructor Verna was the first to recover from her grief, her voice tinged with weariness but unusually firm. "We must leave as soon as possible, digest our gains, and make further plans."
Everyone nodded, suppressing their complex emotions. Barton and Elder Anderson quickly dealt with the two barely alive prisoners (the Abyss Lord had been completely purified and dissipated, while the controlled assassin had all his power imprisoned and was in a deep coma; perhaps they could extract some information about the Discipline Tower or the Silent Court later), and collected the scattered valuable spoils of war—mainly the short sword on the assassin's body, which had been partially corrupted by devoured energy but strangely fused with the power of the Law Word, and the fragments of the Abyss Lord's remaining crystal core, containing pure shadow laws.
Luo Wei walked to the Sphere of Universal Knowledge and bowed deeply, both to the sacrificed Malbas and to this temple that held the last hope of the Stargazer civilization. The Star Key in his palm resonated faintly with the Sphere of Universal Knowledge one last time, as if completing some kind of handover ceremony. He could sense that the Star Key had undergone some indescribable changes, its connection with this temple and this star field becoming even stronger.
The group silently walked through the chaotic control room, retracing their steps. As they passed the "Stairway to Truth," the ancient will seemed to approve of their actions, the steps smooth and serene. When they finally emerged from the arcade and returned to the maintenance passage where the "Stargazer" was moored, they all felt as if they had stepped into another world.
The starship hovered silently, its surface bearing a few scorch marks from the devouring energy, but overall intact. Entering the ship, the familiar energy environment allowed everyone's tense nerves to relax slightly.
"Initiate self-check, low-power navigation, objective: move away from the temple's gravitational field and find a temporary hiding place," Luo Wei commanded, his voice slightly hoarse.
[Command confirmed. Self-check initiated... Minor hull damage, energy reserve 41%, life support systems normal. Initiating low-power navigation.] The star core's electronic voice remained as calm as ever.
The starship slowly emerged from the concealed entrance, once again plunging into the silent darkness of the shattered starfield. Looking back, the colossal Star Palace, like a wounded beast, hovered silently. Though the dark red contamination on its surface had faded, the remaining scars were still shocking. It would require a long time to heal itself.
Once the voyage stabilized, the team immediately convened an emergency meeting.
"First, process the spoils and improve our strength." Luo Wei placed the Star Key on the central analysis platform. "The information in the 'Starry Sky Blueprint' bestowed by the temple is enormous, and we need time to digest it. The most urgent task is to repair the starship and improve our survivability. Instructor Verna, please lead the analysis of the 'Starry Sky Blueprint,' especially the parts on starship upgrades and more advanced cultivation methods."
Verna solemnly accepted this weighty legacy: "Give it to me. This is not just technology, but the crystallization of the wisdom of the stargazing civilization. I will sort out the most urgently needed parts as soon as possible."
"Lilith, Lina, Annie," Rowe said, looking at them, "you're in charge of compiling the sections on 'Purification Sequences' and pharmacology, especially the research on the regular contamination of the Silent Court, which could be crucial. Also, keep a close eye on everyone's physical condition; this battle has taken a heavy toll on us."
Lilith nodded seriously, and Lina and Annie also looked determined.
"Elder Barton, Elder Anderson, the defense and daily patrols of the starship remain in your care. Also, carefully examine that mutated short sword and the Abyss Core to see if you can find a way to counter similar enemies."
"Don't worry!" Barton thumped his chest. Elder Anderson nodded steadily as well.
With clear division of labor, everyone immediately got to work. The starship was filled with a busy atmosphere of relief and hope, as if they had survived a catastrophe.
The following days of sailing will be a period of reflection and refinement.
Luo Wei entered into deep meditation. His first priority was to solidify his newly achieved second-ring Star Speaker realm. Introspecting, at the core of his soul, the natal star rune evolved from the "Eye of the Watcher" rune had become even more complex and solid, slowly rotating like a miniature vortex, absorbing and releasing pure stellar energy. He carefully comprehended the difference between the second and first rings: the range of his perception of stellar power had expanded several times over, and the precision of his control was worlds apart—it was as if he had previously cupped water in his hands, but now he was guiding a stream with his will. More importantly, he had touched upon deeper levels of rules—part of the mysteries of space (astral projection), the essential transformation of energy (the composition of the vortex guardian), and a rudimentary understanding of the two higher-level powers, "Order" and "Annihilation," derived from his life-and-death experiences.
He practiced "Star Vortex Protection" and "Astral Projection" repeatedly, striving for mastery. Simultaneously, he began to try to understand the cultivation path beyond the second ring in the "Starry Sky Blueprint," which involved drawing upon the power of specific stars to temper the soul and initially constructing a unique "Star Art Model"—far beyond simple energy accumulation. This was a gradual process, not something to be rushed. The Star Key resonated with him during meditation, subtly enhancing his affinity with the stars and conveying vague information about the temple's energy pathways, seemingly helpful for his future understanding of large-scale energy structures.
Current status: Luo Wei (Second Ring Star Speaker, Initial Consolidation)
Realm Consolidation: Stabilize at the initial stage of the second ring, become familiar with new abilities, and begin to explore advanced knowledge.
Core training: Deepen "Star Vortex Protection" and "Astral Projection", study the second-ring training method of "Starry Sky Blueprint", and guide the power of specific stars (such as "Guardian Star") to temper the soul.
Potential directions: Develop a unique astrological model, gain a deeper understanding of spatial rules, and explore the nature of order/annihilation.
Combat strength assessment: Overall strength has been greatly improved, possessing a certain degree of self-defense and leadership capabilities in dangerous interstellar environments.
Lilith's work has made a breakthrough. Combining the principles of the "Purification Sequence" with the characteristics of the Abyss Crystal Core, she successfully improved the "Abyss Neutralizer" and sampled and analyzed the residual devouring energy on the mutated short sword. She proposed a bold hypothesis: the power of the Stasis Court is not pure "nothingness," but rather a simulation of "heat death" caused by some kind of extreme "order," and perhaps a countermeasure can be found from the perspective of "entropy increase suppression" or "information disruption." Although it is only theoretical, it points in the right direction. She also used the new knowledge to formulate more effective "Star Power Restoration Potion" and "Mental Barrier Potion," greatly enhancing the team's sustained combat capabilities.
Under Verna's guidance, Lina began systematically learning how to control and enhance her unique spiritual senses. Her experience at the temple made her more acutely aware of the "echoes" of emotions and energies from "non-living entities," even able to vaguely detect fragments of extremely ancient "cosmic memories" contained within the cosmic background radiation. This ability held immense potential for early warning and detection. Annie, meanwhile, eagerly absorbed the knowledge of the Star Speakers, already proficient in several basic spells, and began experimenting with combining her affinity for nature with stellar energy to develop unique auxiliary skills.
Barton successfully channeled a portion of the Abyss Crystal Core's power into his Stellar Battle Aura, imbuing it with a corrosive quality alongside its explosive power, making it even more destructive to energy shields. Elder Anderson, meanwhile, deciphered some strange runes combining Lawful Words and Devouring Energy from the mutated short sword. Although he couldn't use them directly, they greatly deepened his understanding of this hybrid power, allowing him to improve the starship's defense matrix algorithm.
Verna's gains were the greatest. She not only preliminarily deciphered the complete upgrade blueprint for the "Stargazer" (requiring a large amount of rare materials and time), but also found the Star Speaker meditation method leading directly to the fourth ring and several powerful ancient astrological models (currently unusable by any member of the team). More importantly, she deciphered part of the meaning of the "Libra coordinates" in the message left by Marbas—which seemed to point to a certain cosmological constant benchmark used by the Stasis Tribunal to "measure" whether a civilization was "out of balance," and Marbas had secretly perturbed one of the tiny parameters, which might be one of the reasons for the "balance being tilted," and the key reason why the Stasis Tribunal would not give up.
On the fifteenth day of their voyage, the starship found a secluded area within a dense asteroid belt and temporarily docked for its first substantial upgrade and repair. Utilizing blueprint knowledge and stockpiled materials, the core directed the repair robots to begin repairing hull damage and upgrading energy transmission efficiency. Although complete repair was still a long way off, survivability had been significantly enhanced.
On the twenty-first day of their voyage, Mentor Verna brought a significant discovery. While sifting through the star map markings, she combined the coordinate fragments left behind by Malbas with the resonance of the Star Key, successfully locating a relatively "safe" and resource-rich star region—the "Shattered Star Remains" nebula. This was the remnant of an ancient battlefield, littered with broken planets and starship wreckage, its complex spatial structure making it easy to hide, and potentially containing rare resources for repairing starships and enhancing strength. More importantly, the Star Key resonated faintly with this area, suggesting the existence of a small, unmarked Observer outpost.
"This can serve as our temporary base," Verna said, pointing to the points of light on the star map. "We need time to digest our gains, improve our strength, and also a safe base to deal with the Court of Stasis's next actions."
The proposal was unanimously approved. Drifting aimlessly in the perilous depths of space was not a sustainable solution.
With the target identified, the starship set sail again, adjusted its course, and headed toward the "Shattered Star Remains" nebula.
Outside the porthole, the stars shifted. Luo Wei stood before the viewing window, holding the warm Star Key in his hand. His gaze seemed to pierce through the boundless starry sky, seeing the cold scales hidden behind the rules of the universe, and on the other side of those scales, those indifferent figures who held the reins of "balance".
The sacrifice of Marbas, the legacy of the temple, and the growth of their companions all became the driving force for their progress. The threat of the Stasis Court hung like the Sword of Damocles, but they were no longer helpless fugitives. They had gained knowledge, clarified their direction, and united as a team.
The road ahead is still fraught with thorns, but this time, they will take the initiative to move forward, searching for their own answers in the sea of stars, until they uncover the ultimate truth of balance.
"Shattered Star Remains... Hopefully, we'll find the answers we need there, and... time," Rowe whispered.
The starship transformed into a streak of light, disappearing into the shadow of the asteroid belt and heading towards a new unknown.
