Dragon Raja: Lu Mingfei's War Journey

Chapter 2 Traveling Through 1972

Hearing a constant buzzing and voices around him, Lu Mingfei struggled to open his eyes.

"What's that noise? It's so loud!"

When he took in his surroundings, he shuddered, because he found himself sitting on an airplane, and through the round window next to him, he could see the ever-changing clouds outside.

"Am I dreaming?" Lu Mingfei pinched his thigh hard, immediately wincing in pain, but he still couldn't believe how he had suddenly ended up on an airplane.

You know, he's never been on a plane before, and he was just lying in bed sleeping.

"Am I suffering from amnesia?" Lu Mingfei muttered to himself.

He actually wanted to ask if he had been kidnapped, but then he remembered that as a loser, he had no value in being kidnapped. If anyone was to be kidnapped, it would be that chubby Lu Mingze. His uncle and aunt would definitely spend all their money to redeem him. Amnesia seemed more plausible.

Just then, a muffled groan came from beside him, and Lu Mingfei realized that a stunningly beautiful woman with long red hair was sitting next to him.

The red-haired beauty was wearing a well-tailored dark green blazer, a short skirt, and high heels. However, strangely, her clothes were wet, and a few strands of red hair were stuck to her cheeks, making her look somewhat disheveled.

"Hmm... Where is this place?" With a muffled groan, the red-haired beauty opened her eyes. The moment she opened her eyes, she looked around warily, like a cheetah suddenly awakened.

Hearing the red-haired woman next to him speaking fluent Chinese, and seemingly unaware of her own surroundings, Lu Mingfei immediately felt tears welling up in his eyes. It turned out he wasn't the only one feeling this way.

"Hello, my name is Lu Mingfei. Do you know where we are right now?" Lu Mingfei asked the red-haired beauty next to him eagerly.

The plane was actually full of people, but they were all foreigners, and they weren't speaking English. They were babbling something he couldn't understand at all, which is why the red-haired girl was so excited after waking up.

After all, he was the only person with an Asian face on the plane besides himself, and he was speaking Chinese.

Nono opened her eyes and immediately saw a disheveled-looking young man sitting next to her. His hair looked like a bird's nest, and he was wearing a faded short-sleeved shirt, loose shorts, and cheap flip-flops.

At the same time, she immediately noticed her surroundings and activated her ability to profile.

The plane she's on now appears to be a dual-use military and civilian transport aircraft. Through the profiling, she can sense traces of military personnel having previously operated on this aircraft.

However, at this moment, the military plane was carrying tourists, most of whom were young people around eighteen or nineteen years old. They seemed to be a rugby team, and the other tourists and rugby players seemed to have a close relationship, probably like family or friends. These people were probably on vacation.

The foreigners on the plane were speaking Spanish. Nono could only understand two words: "match" and "Chile." However, through her profile, she realized one thing: she hadn't been kidnapped. She and the seemingly unlucky young man next to her seemed to have suddenly appeared on this plane.

The two of them stood out from everything around them on the plane, from their clothing to everything else. Apart from the differences in their nationalities, they seemed to belong to a different era than the other passengers.

She even saw a lot of people smoking on the plane. Smoking on airplanes was only possible in the early days when it was a trend and a selling point that attracted wealthy people to fly. There were even ashtrays on the armrests of the airplane seats.

It wasn't until the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) discovered that the vast majority of airplane fires were caused by passengers carelessly discarding cigarette butts that a comprehensive smoking ban was issued in 1996.

Nono touched the armrest and found an ashtray on it, which to some extent proved that she was in time at least before smoking was banned on airplanes in 1996. The clothes worn by the passengers around her were also from that era. She didn't know if this was a set for a movie or if she had really traveled through time.

But her intuition led her to lean more towards the latter, because her profile found no trace of any set design on the plane; everything seemed so real.

"My name is Chen Motong, you can call me Nuonuo. How did you get on this plane?" Nuonuo asked Lu Mingfei, who looked anxious.

Profiles are not a panacea; to profile more, you need to obtain more information.

"I don't know either. I was just sleeping at home, and when I opened my eyes I was on this plane," Lu Mingfei said, still completely bewildered and unaware of his situation.

Nono carefully observed Lu Mingfei's face, knowing he wasn't lying, and then continued to ask, "Do you remember what year, month, day, and hour it was before you went to sleep?"

"September 14, 2008, noon," Lu Mingfei blurted out immediately.

As for why he remembered it so clearly, besides the fact that it was a holiday and also the Mid-Autumn Festival, the things his aunt said when she asked him to go shopping made him a little defensive.

His parents didn't call him during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and this has been going on for several years now. He's almost forgotten what his parents' voices sound like.

Upon hearing this time, Nono recalled that the time before she went to sleep was September 13, 2008. She left home at 10:30 pm, and by the time she drove to the back mountain and went to sleep, it should have been 11 pm. Chicago time is 13 hours behind Beijing time, which translates to exactly noon on the 14th in Beijing.

It seemed that the guy in front of her had disappeared at the same time as her and then appeared here. She wanted to take out her phone to check the time, but found that she had nothing on her except for this piece of clothing.

"Damn it..." Nono cursed under her breath. Suddenly finding herself on an unfamiliar plane, no one could remain completely calm. Who knew if this plane was going to crash into the Twin Towers? And once you were on the plane, there was no way to escape; you could only wait for it to land.

Just as Lu Mingfei was about to ask the beautiful girl named Nuonuo some questions, a line of small print appeared on his retina.

Main objective: Survive the plane crash.

[Option 1: Survive on the snow-capped mountain for 80 days]

[Option 2: Escape the snow-capped mountains and find rescue]

[Task Reward: ???]

Then a flood of memories rushed into Lu Mingfei's mind, and only after all these memories were integrated into his mind did he understand the current situation.

It is now October 13, 1972. They are currently aboard a Uruguayan military aircraft, which has been chartered by a rugby team called the Old Christians and is flying to Chile for a match.

The rugby team had only 19 players and eleven empty seats. If they sold these eleven seats, the average cost per person for airfare would only be one-third of the normal ticket price. So the rugby team took their friends and family on a trip to Chile, and a few tickets were sold by the Uruguayan Air Force.

According to memory, he and Nono were tourists from China visiting Uruguay. They happened to have bought two plane tickets from the Uruguayan Air Force and were preparing to travel to Chile.

This Fairchild FH-227D aircraft is currently crossing the Andes Mountains on its way to Santiago, the capital of Chile.

The Andes Mountains are approximately 8900 kilometers long, with an average elevation of 3660 meters. There are more than 50 peaks over 6000 meters high, among which Aconcagua, at 6962 meters, is the highest mountain after Mount Everest.

"So we're in 1972 now?" Lu Mingfei muttered to himself in disbelief.

"Is this the power of a dragon...?" Nono murmured to herself, her expression even more shocked than Lu Mingfei's.

Nono also saw the prompts on her retina and that memory, but what she found most unbelievable was that she could actually understand the Spanish spoken by the other passengers around her.

As a student at Kassel College, she knew that supernatural forces existed in the world. It was precisely because she knew that supernatural forces existed in the world that she was even more shocked and incredulous than Lu Mingfei.

Time travel, memory transfer, instantly learning a language… Is this the power displayed by the dragon race…? But why did the teacher never mention it in class, and why isn't there such a power in the list of incantations…?

"Dragon? What dragon? Nono's mission says we have to survive a plane crash. Does that mean our plane is going to crash soon...?" Lu Mingfei said, trembling.

Upon hearing this, Nuonuo suddenly looked up. Having witnessed so many unbelievable things, she didn't think what was written above was alarmist.

"Should we turn the pilot back now...?" Lu Mingfei continued, his voice trembling.

Nono had come to her senses and immediately unbuckled her seatbelt, wanting to go to the cockpit in front to take a look, but just then the plane began to shake violently.
