Chapter 69 The So-Called Genius Training Camp

Zhou Ming looked at Lin Che, his eyes flickering, but he didn't say anything.

"Alright." Lin Che's lips curled slightly, his voice soft. "Whoever can leave this room alive, I'll let them study me."

The moment he said that, the conference room fell into a deathly silence.

No one made a sound, and no one dared to get up. All eyes were fixed on Lin Che.

It was as if invisible blades were colliding with each other in the air.

Lin Che's gaze swept over everyone present. His eyes were calm, yet carried a hint of barely perceptible coldness.

No one dared to move.

Those high-ranking figures who control the lives and deaths of millions of people are now frozen in place, sitting stiffly in their chairs as if under a spell.

They felt it.

A pure and chilling killing intent.

That wasn't intimidation; it was a real threat.

Lin Che withdrew his gaze and picked up a document from the table. The document prominently displayed the title: "SSS-Level Mysterious Su Hongyi Assessment Report."

He casually flipped through a couple of pages, then tore them up and threw them on the table.

"I don't like it when people try to make a move on my wife," Lin Che said. "Especially those who think they're so clever."

He stood up and put his legs off the table.

"That's enough for today," Lin Che said. "I think you all understand what I mean."

He turned around and walked towards the conference room door without looking back.

The metal door closed silently behind him.

The meeting room remained deathly silent.

After a long while, Li Zhengxing finally let out a long breath.

His forehead was covered in cold sweat.

"Is he—is he threatening us?" Zhou Ming's voice trembled slightly.

"He's not a threat," Li Zhengxing said. "He's a declaration of war."

He picked up the torn pieces of the document from the table, his fingertips trembling slightly.

That Lin Che completely disregarded all the rules here.

He only cares about his wife.

In the corridor outside, Lin Che's figure appeared somewhat frail in the night.

He hadn't gone far when he saw Su Hongyi standing at the bedroom door, quietly watching him.

There was a hint of worry in her eyes.

Lin Che walked up to her, reached out, and gently put his arm around her waist.

"It's nothing," Lin Che said. "I just chatted with them."

Su Hongyi relaxed and leaned against him.

"Husband, do they want to bully you?" she asked.

Lin Che kissed her hair.

"No," Lin Che said. "They wouldn't dare."

He took Su Hongyi's hand and led her into the bedroom.

The capital city tonight is destined to be anything but peaceful.

"Mr. Lin, we've discussed it."

The next morning, Zhang Jingzhi's voice came through the phone, sounding somewhat tired. Lin Che was sitting at the dining table, and Su Hongyi was peeling oranges for him.

"Considering your and Mrs. Lin's circumstances, we have arranged an identity for you," Zhang Jingzhi said.

Lin Che picked up a segment of orange and put it in his mouth. He didn't say anything.

"The National Paranormal University," Zhang Jingzhi continued. "This is currently the highest-level institution for training paranormal talents in the country. You will be admitted as a special admission student for a year of advanced studies."

Su Hongyi put down the orange, her red eyes looking at Lin Che. Lin Che patted the back of her hand.

"Further studies?" Lin Che smiled. "Am I going to learn, or to be observed?"

On the other end of the phone, Zhang Jingzhi was silent for a moment.

"Mr. Lin, we are all working for the future of humanity," Zhang Jingzhi said. "This identity will allow you and Mrs. Lin to better integrate into the existing social system and will also make it easier for us to provide necessary assistance. Of course, you can withdraw at any time."

Lin Che thought for a moment. He did need an identity that allowed him to act openly and legitimately to understand this world that had been invaded by the strange entity. Moreover, a university was a place where all sorts of people mingled, and naturally, there was a lot of information.

"Okay," Lin Che said, "but I have one condition."

"Please speak."

"My wife has to come with me," Lin Che said. "She's also my teaching assistant."

Zhang Jingzhi, on the other end of the phone, caught his breath.

"This—I'm afraid it will be difficult," Zhang Jingzhi said. "Universities have their own rules, and Mrs. Lin's identity—is too special."

"Special?" Lin Che's voice turned cold. "Director Zhang, I thought we reached a consensus last night. If my wife suffers any injustice, it's not something that can be easily dismissed with a mere 'difficulty'."

The air seemed to grow colder after he said that.

Zhang Jingzhi knew that Lin Che was not joking.

Last night, the horrific state of those special forces soldiers and the sight of Long Ao being trampled underfoot reminded him that the man before him was completely unpredictable. Everything he did revolved solely around his "wife."

"I will try my best to fight for it," Zhang Jingzhi finally compromised, "but you also have to understand that this will take time."

""

"Then please hurry, Director Zhang." Lin Che hung up the phone.

Su Hongyi leaned closer and rested her head on Lin Che's shoulder.

"Husband, are we going to school?" she asked, her tone filled with curiosity.

"Hmm." Lin Che gently stroked her hair. "Go and see what kind of geniuses exist in this world."

Three days later, a black car pulled up in front of the National Paranormal University.

The school gate stood solemnly, exuding an ancient atmosphere. Twisted runes were carved on the tall stone pillars. Inside the school, several teaching buildings were built against the mountain, shrouded in a light mist.

Lin Che got out of the car, and Su Hongyi, dressed in red and holding a red umbrella, followed closely beside him.

As soon as they stepped into the school gate, they sensed subtle fluctuations in energy.

Indeed, quite a few "superpowered individuals" had gathered here. Some were surrounded by a pale blue wind, while others had faint sparks of electricity dancing at their fingertips. Even more extreme were those whose bodies were enveloped in a chilling aura, and the ground beneath their eyes was covered with a thin layer of frost.

Lin Che ignored the strange looks he received. He went into the academic affairs office and submitted his enrollment documents.

"Lin Che? A special admission student?" The teacher in charge of reception, a middle-aged man wearing black-rimmed glasses, adjusted his glasses, his eyes filled with a scrutinizing look.

He looked at Lin Che, then at Su Hongyi beside Lin Che, a hint of wariness flashing in his eyes.

"Yes," Lin Che said.

"Alright, all the paperwork is complete." The teacher took a badge out of the drawer. "This is your student ID. Your class is the Elite Class, Class 1. Your dormitory is in the premium apartment. Here, is a map."

His tone betrayed a hint of reluctance as he spoke.

Lin Che took the badge and map. The badge was made of metal and had an abstract eyeball pattern engraved on it.

"Thank you," Lin Che said.

After leaving the academic affairs office, Lin Che and Su Hongyi followed the map and found the classroom of Elite Class 1.

The classroom was on the top floor of an old teaching building. Pushing open the door, I found it already full of people.

The classroom was spacious and bright, furnished with dozens of desks and chairs. The students were dressed in various casual clothes; some were looking down at their books, while others were discussing things in hushed tones.

As soon as Lin Che entered the classroom, all eyes were immediately focused on him and Su Hongyi.
