Wizard: I have ten trillion nanomachines
Chapter 196 The Beginning of the War
Inside the council hall on the top floor of the Witch Tower, the air was filled with the aroma of a special magical potion, made from the bile of an ice toad and the stamens of a demonic vine. Its fragrance could cleanse the soul, but it also carried a chilling, bone-deep feeling.
Twelve white bone pillars, inscribed with ancient incantations, rise from the floor of the hall to the dome. Each pillar is made from the remains of a fallen three-ring creature, with faint soul fire flowing between the bone patterns, reflecting the star trails painted on the dome in a play of light and shadow.
Wizards dressed in dark gold robes stood on either side, their cheeks branded with Felix's signature runes.
It was a skull mark wrapped in starlight. Once branded, it would be bound to the soul, making one a hound of Felix for all eternity.
A wizard clad in a scarlet robe bowed deeply, his head almost touching the ground, his voice trembling with a hint of awe, breaking the silence in the hall.
"My Lord, the thirty-seventh batch of apprentices has passed the soul trial. This batch of three hundred new wizards have all broken through the second ring threshold in terms of spiritual power and can be incorporated into the expeditionary legion."
"The Seventh Exploration Team has discovered a new world and successfully established an outpost. At the same time, they have plundered more than 100,000 alien slaves, all of whom have been mentally imprinted."
Felix sat astride his star-patterned throne, his white robes trailing on the ground, his silver hair cascading over his shoulders, his eyes half-closed, his fingertips casually toying with a shimmering crystal core.
He didn't speak immediately, and the atmosphere in the hall became even more stagnant. Even the aroma of the potion seemed to be frozen, pressing heavily on everyone's hearts.
After a long while, he slowly raised his eyes. There was no warmth in his eyes, only a cold indifference. "Not bad, another other world has been discovered."
"Within ten years, we will completely conquer that world."
Upon hearing this, the wizards in the hall were all startled, and their heads, which had been hanging low, drooped even lower.
The intelligence sent back by the exploration team to that world called Dawn clearly indicated the existence of multiple second-ring level powerhouses, and possibly even third-ring level beings.
To conquer such a world in just ten years seems a bit...
But given Felix's terrifying power, no one dared to utter a single word of rebuttal.
As the Morning Star Wizard, his words are inviolable ironclad rules.
With Felix's abilities, how could he not sense the wizards' hesitation?
In an instant, the crystal core at his fingertips paused slightly, and a cold light flashed in his eyes. That cold light was like a blade tempered with ice, scraping across everyone's cheeks, making them shiver involuntarily.
He knew these people's thoughts all too well.
Many of these wizards are newcomers who grew up after they took over this world.
From birth, he lived within a towering and sturdy witch tower, with branded and tamed foreign slaves at his feet and abundant resources around him. He had never experienced the feeling of his ancestors wandering aimlessly in the cracks between the heavens, nor had he ever witnessed those terrifying beings that could easily crush worlds.
The comfortable environment had dulled their claws and teeth, making them forget that the essence of wizards is plunder and conquest.
"Do you think that occupying this fertile land will guarantee your safety?"
He suddenly spoke, his voice not loud, but it was like a piece of ice thrown into boiling oil, instantly causing an uproar in the entire council hall.
The wizards attending the meeting shuddered and lowered their heads even further.
The Lord's voice was not loud, but it carried a chilling coldness that seemed to penetrate to the bone marrow and reach the depths of the soul.
"The Mother River is vast and flows ceaselessly, nurturing inexhaustible resources and giving rise to diverse civilizations, but also harboring countless formidable enemies!"
As he spoke, his gaze swept over the crowd with undisguised mockery, as if he were looking at a flock of lambs to the slaughter.
"Those ferocious beasts lurking in the void can devour worlds at will, and shatter stars with a single bite. Those ancient races born from chaos are born with the third ring."
"Not to mention those progenitors who reign supreme above all heavens; a single thought from them could condemn all living beings to eternal damnation!"
"To survive in such a vast and cold world, one must never rely on mere comfort!" His voice suddenly rose, and a powerful pressure swept through the entire council hall like a tidal wave.
"Ten years! I'll only give you ten years!" Felix's eyes burned with a cold flame, which reflected on his pale face, making him look even more ferocious.
"I can't do it..." He paused, his tone calm yet carrying a chilling murderous intent, like a sword hanging overhead, ready to fall at any moment. "You will join those useless slaves in the furnace, turning to ashes!"
He doesn't need cowardly, stagnant losers; he only needs thugs who can help him conquer the world.
"It's time to get rid of those useless bruises."
Felix thought coldly to himself.
If these high-ranking wizards are already so timid, how much better can the mid-ranking wizards and the vast number of apprentices be?
They probably only know how to hide in the witch tower, eat, drink, and have fun, and enjoy themselves with those branded female slaves, having long forgotten their instinct for conquest.
"This global invasion presents a good opportunity."
This world is called Dawn.
It contains many powerful extraordinary forces, and there are even faint signs that a child of the world might be born within it.
Some worlds that have existed long enough, or that have sufficiently powerful and unique creatures, will develop a kind of self-awareness and become a special life form, thus producing a representative, namely the Child of the World.
The Child of the World can summon natural disaster-level forces such as thunder, tsunamis, and landslides with the slightest gesture, and almost without any cost.
In a sense, a fully realized World Child is a special kind of Trinity – the entire world is his domain.
This is still the most ordinary child of the world.
Legend has it that in the astral plane, each star is a world in itself.
Billions of stars, billions of worlds.
Among them are many terrifying stars whose gravity alone can distort spacetime and tear everything apart.
Those celestial bodies can also harbor life, and the terrifying existence within them is something even Felix, the Morning Star Wizard, would have to avoid.
At this moment, the Dawn World, facing the invasion of another world, will inevitably accelerate the birth of the World's Child.
This undoubtedly increased the difficulty for them.
Add to that a ten-year timeframe, and you can imagine how many casualties will occur during this process.
But Felix didn't care; he didn't care how many people died.
In this brutal system, the weak simply cannot survive for long; only the strong will live.
As for the so-called Child of the World, it is nothing more than a purer soul crystal.
Only by continuously accumulating energy and extraordinary knowledge, and analyzing more rules, can one transform into a Radiant Moon level being, that is, a divine being.
A fourth-ring Morning Star Wizard can materialize subjective rules into localized reality.
The Five Rings Bright Moon Wizard, on the other hand, has completely broken free from the shackles of "local" rules and exists eternally in all the heavens.
The true spirit will expand into a bright moon suspended in the starry sky. Wherever its light reaches, subjective rules will no longer be isolated "islands of truth," but rather a network of rules that can generate themselves and interlock with each other. It can even assimilate and devour other rules that are weaker than itself, ultimately constructing a "rule ecosystem" based on its own will.
This form of existence is also referred to by some extraordinary beings as the divine realm.
Within God's Kingdom, I am the rule, I am the truth.
Felix gently stroked the crystal core with his fingertips, a hint of longing flashing in his eyes.
He longed for that day, longed to become sacred, longed to rise above the mortal world.
............................................
"Pass down the order."
After a moment, Felix composed himself and spoke again, his voice returning to its usual coldness.
"The three hundred newly recruited wizards will all be assigned to the vanguard camp. They must be the first to set foot in the Dawn World."
Upon hearing this, the dark gold-robed wizards below were once again shaken to their core, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
The vanguard battalion is always a battlefield where life is extremely difficult; it is a cannon fodder battalion used to test the enemy's strength and deplete their firepower.
Sending apprentices who have just passed the trials and been promoted to the official level to lead the charge is tantamount to using flesh and blood to fill the defensive lines of the Dawn World.
If it were someone else, they wouldn't care, since someone always has to be at the forefront of a war.
This is how it is in the rear. The soldiers on the front lines only need to devote themselves wholeheartedly to the battlefield, obey orders, and fight bravely to kill the enemy, but those in the rear have many more things to consider.
But among these three hundred new recruits, many have close ties with them.
Some were their disciples, some were their descendants, and some were trusted confidants whom they had cultivated with great resources.
Sending them to be filler characters, to serve as cannon fodder in war, is tantamount to cutting off their flesh.
However, Felix clearly didn't care about any of that.
"Crimson, your First Legion is responsible for clearing out the low-level cultivator strongholds on the outskirts of Dawn, plundering resources, and establishing a solid forward base." Felix's gaze fell on the first red-robed wizard on the left, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "Within a year, I want to see at least three wizard towers rise up on the main continent of the Dawn World, becoming my bridgeheads."
The red-robed wizard, whose name was called, immediately bowed, his scarlet robes sweeping across the ground in a blinding arc. "Yes, sir!"
"Cole, your Second Legion will focus on those powerful local tribes." Felix's gaze shifted to the purple-and-gold-robed wizard on his right, a cold smile curving his lips. "Remember, don't rush to kill them; divide and conquer them."
"Win over those ambitious guys, use their existing hatred to make them fight each other and weaken each other's strength."
"At the same time, we will cultivate a group of collaborators, offer them substantial rewards, and send them deep into the indigenous community to corrupt their will to resist."
"After we conquer the world, we'll eliminate these collaborators one by one, leaving none alive. We'll bring back the souls of all the strong natives intact; the Soul Furnace needs fresh 'fuel'."
"Especially those top experts among the natives, whose souls contain the fundamental rules of the world, which is of great benefit to my analysis of the rules of the Dawn World."
Cole, clad in a purple-gold robe, bowed his head in agreement, but a barely perceptible glint of greed flashed in his eyes.
He knew very well that those powerful forces that controlled a region must be hiding countless treasures.
Felix's gaze finally settled on Brown, who was dressed in black armor on the far right.
Brown was shrouded in a thick shadow, as if he had merged with the darkness. If it weren't for the faint wizarding aura emanating from him, probably no one would have been able to detect his presence.
"Your Shadow Assassins have infiltrated the heart of the Dawn Continent to closely monitor any unusual activity within the world."
"Once you discover any signs of the Child of the World appearing, report back immediately. Remember, do not act rashly; it would be best to capture him alive."
"A complete child of the world is far more valuable than a flawed one, lest it affect the purity of the soul."
Brown nodded silently, his shadowy aura growing stronger, as if he were about to merge into the void. He left only a low, echoing reply in the hall: "As you command."
"The ten-year period begins today." Felix slowly sat back on the Star-Patterned Throne, closed his eyes again, and said in a voice as cold as ice, "Disperse."
The wizards, feeling as if they had been granted a pardon, bowed respectfully and then tiptoed out, afraid of disturbing their capricious lord.
Only Felix remained in the council chamber.
"Radiant Moon... Divine..." Felix murmured, his white robes fluttering in the invisible pressure. "If Mosayus can do it, why can't I, Felix?"
Mosayus, the King of Wizards, the holy one who stands at the pinnacle of the heavens, and the nominal leader of all wizards.
Apart from the wizard who was believed to exist only in a few rumors.
As a powerful Morning Star wizard, he certainly couldn't accept being subordinate to anyone.
But a sacred position is never something that can be obtained by waiting.
Only by treading on the ruins of countless worlds, devouring the essence of countless living beings, and stepping on piles of white bones can one ascend to that throne step by step.
While Felix was pondering this, seven thousand light-years away in this world, Lokunlun was watching him, watching this entire world.
To many beings in the heavens, the Morning Star Wizard was already a god-like figure.
But to the sacred creature, it was nothing more than a slightly larger worm.
As for Lokunlun, as before, all of Felix's secrets and thoughts could not be kept from him.
