After I died, my personal maid rebelled.

Chapter 127 Letter from the North

In late February, news that the Southern Territory was secretly harboring an army of over 100,000 undead spread like wildfire throughout the kingdom, leading to a stalemate in the war, with neither side taking any further action to this day.

A month ago, the allied forces, led by the Central Army, quickly surrounded Silver City from three sides. A month later, the moat outside Silver City is still crystal clear.

Of the new battle reports received by the capital, only the Northern Army continues to conquer towns, but their forces are getting further and further away from the core area.

After discussing it with Miss Luna, Kate still informed the Central Army of the information about the undead army.

The Central Army was in a panic and quickly dispatched 10,000 Imperial Guards to the key military town, and sent out a large number of scouts to gather information.

Adhering to the strategic intention of "you come, I leave," the Northern Army simply greeted the Imperial Guards and then began their long-prepared plundering plan.

The climate in the south is warm; perhaps Luna is already sunbathing on a beach somewhere.

After a busy day, Jenny couldn't sleep at night, and this is what she thought.

The corridors of the Vatican were empty and deep. Jenny walked quietly by with her oil lamp in hand, and her gaze was soon drawn to the moonlight shining through the window.

The moonlight, pure and holy, shone on her long, emerald-green hair. Jenny's eyes trembled slightly. According to her agreement with the Duke, she was supposed to set off for the Northern Territory in January...

Unfortunately, she did not unite everyone as a saint, as the Duke had hoped.

So she decided to stay on her own initiative, perhaps to continue working hard, or perhaps to escape something else.

"If you want to see the stars, I know a good place."

John, wrapped in a bearskin coat, strode in. His insomnia was even worse than Jenny's, and his smoking habit was getting worse. Every time he opened the door to his office, thick smoke would rush in, as if entering a fairyland.

Jenny shook her head, her voice cool and detached. "I just want to take a walk."

"If you walk a few more steps, you can get this letter from the messenger in the North yourself."

After handing the letter to Jenny, John looked away from her and walked over to open the glass window. A gentle night breeze blew, and the two exchanged few words.

Jane carefully put the letter away, not wanting to disturb the messenger's rest, even though she was eager to know about the current situation in the Northern Territory.

And if she wasn't mistaken, the messenger's main mission was to continue south to find their young lady.

After all, such a major event had occurred in the Southern Territory, and Luna couldn't possibly fail to inform the Duke and seek his opinion.

Like an old, worn-out object, John gazed into the distance at the royal city, only moving slightly after a long while before slowly speaking, "I'm sorry about what happened to Sioux, but I hope you can understand his grief over the loss of his daughter."

"It's alright, I'll go easy on you."

Jenny responded nonchalantly, saying that rather than grieving the loss of her daughter, she was simply worried about the negative political repercussions of defeating the Grand Master of the Western Knights.

Otherwise, it wouldn't have been as simple as just lying in a hospital bed for a week.

Ultimately, she came to the Papacy to help the Duke's plans; personally, heaven knows how much she wanted to get rid of this elaborate saintly robe.

Recalling the scene where Sulley was instantly defeated by Jenny, John couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth into a smile.

It can only be said that she is indeed a nun who dares to travel alone in the frontier. If it weren't for her physical limitations, Janet could probably have become an extraordinary paladin.

He smiled and continued, "Aren't you going to take a look at what Oswald wrote?"

"Probably urging me to go back again..." After saying that, Jenny suddenly smiled. The last time the Duke wrote to her, the first sentence was: "I'm lacking inspiration for the bishop's short stories lately. I would appreciate it if the Minister of Health could return as soon as possible to provide materials."

John, who knew nothing of this, remarked, "It's good to go back. It's not easy to restore hope to people. You could say that making promises and fulfilling wishes is an eternal theme for those in power."

John has witnessed the efforts of the new saint. Recently, more and more people have achieved spiritual redemption through the Vatican and regained the courage to continue living.

But even without natural disasters, the kingdom still suffers from man-made calamities.

During the month or so that the Central Army was on its expedition to the Southern Territory, even the price of grain in the capital city saw a bizarre increase, and everyone knew who was behind it all.

The royal city, as the political center, is a wondrous place that everyone knows about but no one speaks of.

John feared that Saintess Janet might rebel again. The fact that the Southern Kingdom had over 100,000 undead troops was already enough to give the king a headache... It was best not to provoke that trouble recently.

After running out of things to say again, the two of them remained silent for a long time, each lost in their own thoughts.

Noticing that the oil lamp was about to go out, Jenny sighed softly, bowed, and returned to her room.

After locking the door, she immediately took out the envelope, first checking that the seal was intact, and then quickly unfolded the letter in front of the oil lamp.

What came into view was the Duke's elegant handwriting. After only glancing at the beginning, Jennifer exclaimed in surprise and quickly covered her mouth.

Oswald had only one order: to release the news of the hero Thorne's torture in the northern territory by March, and to ensure that Lilith knew about this information so as to prevent him from heading south.

……

Jenny couldn't sleep again. She tossed and turned in bed, using the magic power that had appeared in her hand to read the Duke's letter over and over again.

In the Duke's speculation, the goddess's power was like two sides of a coin, one side representing life and the other representing death.

This is why so many calamities in this world are related to the undead.

Compared to the Blood-Clad Saintess's corruption and control over people, Lilith's wish regarding the resurrection of the dead is probably closer to the essence of death.

Or rather, pure death.

When a curse manifests in an individual, it is often not in terms of intensity, but rather in a concept that disregards power.

In terms of pure combat power, the Blood-Clad Saintess Maria back then probably wouldn't have been able to even step out of the royal city in front of the great mage Medivh.

But even if the Duke didn't say it, Janet knew perfectly well how terrifying the concept of death was.

Once Lilith becomes the embodiment of the curse on the Day of Prayer, the only ones in the entire kingdom who can resist her, besides Paul, are the completely undead Oswald.

With Paul, who was on a more important mission, absent, Oswald was more worried about Lilith's ability to control the undead...

There are too many brilliant minds in the kingdom. If Lilith were to become a curse and march south, liberating the hundreds of thousands of undead in the southern territories, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Oswald originally planned to observe the situation before taking action, and he wouldn't care even if Lilith turned the royal city upside down.

But the news Luna sent back to the Northern Territory was so outrageous that Oswald almost wanted to tell Frank, "You better go and guard the North, I'm going south to slaughter those bastards."

The royal city was quiet, but Jenny wasn't the only one unable to sleep tonight.

Frank also received a warning letter from Oswald.

Upon hearing that the Duke of Oswald had written him a letter, Frank almost immediately jumped out of bed and snatched the letter from the servant's hand, barefoot.

It's not easy! The Duke has finally taken the initiative to contact him. This must be the beginning of a wonderful story between the two of them!

After reading the letter, Frank felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave, ignoring even the princess's repeated calls.

After finally realizing what was happening, he rushed out of his room and coldly ordered the servants who had caught up with him.

"Summon Medivh, the Archbishop, and Commander Robert to the palace immediately!"
