Why is My Magical Life in a Gal Art Style?

Chapter 39: The Leader is Like a Mother

The sky was clear and blue, like a flawless piece of glass.

Even on such a bright and sunny day, the abandoned industrial area still looked so desolate and dilapidated.

However, the rusted pipes and collapsed factory ceilings seem to tell a story of the glory this place once had.

Tangli, carrying lily of the valley and cherry blossoms, passed through the teleportation portal hidden beneath the textile factory warehouse without any hindrance.

After the slight and brief feeling of weightlessness disappeared, the three of them suddenly saw a clear view.

Looking up, the dome was shining with a soft glow, and the space, which was about half the size of a football field, was exceptionally clear and bright.

The floor was paved with smooth gray stone slabs, the central hall was simple and spacious, and on the left side were several rooms with signs hanging neatly.

Is this the organization's headquarters?

Linglan felt that the base was much grander and more magnificent than she had previously imagined.

"Is this the place?" Linglan gradually came to her senses and asked subconsciously.

Finding no one responding, Lily of the Valley looked around and then noticed that Cherry Blossom and Pear Blossom were nowhere to be seen.

Just as Suzuran was wondering, Sakura's figure walked out of the room in front with the sign that read "Archives Room".

"Welcome to headquarters, Lily of the Valley."

Sakura waved the few sheets of A4 paper in her hand, then walked up to Suzuran and handed her a neatly printed form: "Although you have signed a contract with Momo and are already a member of our magical girl organization, we still need to go through the basic procedures."

"Please fill out this form; it's mainly to make it easier to produce ID badges."

"ID card?" Lily asked, somewhat puzzled.

"The ID tag is something the leader explicitly stipulated that we magical girls must carry. Hmm, how exactly should I explain it to you..." Sakura looked behind Suzuran, where Tangli was sitting in a chair drinking water.

Noticing Sakura's gaze, Tang Li calmly twisted the cap off her mineral water bottle and said indifferently, "From now on, the ID tag will be the symbol of your identity as a magical girl. The earlier you become a magical girl, the earlier the number on your ID tag will be, and the earlier the number, the more powerful you will be."

"I see, I understand." Linglan nodded thoughtfully.

She glanced at the form in her hand, and then, led by Sakura, entered the conference room.

Upon entering the meeting room, Suzuran casually pulled up a chair and sat down, then began to carefully fill out the form.

The form was filled out in less than half a minute.

Sakura took the form from Lily of the Valley, carefully glanced through it, and only after confirming that there were no errors did she put the form away, her expression gradually becoming serious.

"Lily of the Valley, listen up. I'm going to tell you some things to be careful about after you become a magical girl."

"Although we magical girls possess miraculous powers, there are a few things we must be careful about."

"Yes, I'm listening. Sakura, you go ahead." Lily of the Valley straightened her back, her emerald green eyes fixed intently on Sakura.

"First point," Sakura held up a finger, "You absolutely cannot reveal to anyone, including your family and friends, that you are a magical girl, nor can you reveal the existence of the organization, the location of the base, or the identities of other members."

"This regulation is not only to protect everyone, but also to protect yourself."

"The second point is about the precautions regarding transformation. You must never transform into a magical girl in public. If the situation is so urgent that you absolutely must transform, first you must learn to use the 'Seed of Soul' to create a cognitive barrier, or choose a secluded location to transform."

"Thirdly... when interacting with other magical girls, or when at the organization's base, you must never reveal your true form."

"Why is that?" Linglan asked, her voice filled with confusion and bewilderment.

"It's also to avoid unnecessary security risks. In short, the rules set by the leader must be followed."

"All right……"

"Then there is the fourth rule, which is the code of conduct for the use of power. We strictly prohibit the use of magical girl powers to bully the weak."

"...That's it?"

"That's all. Lily of the Valley, did you remember these four points I mentioned?"

Sakura explained each rule very clearly.

Seeing the other person deep in thought, Sakura's expression softened: "My tone might have been a bit harsh just now, but it was to help you remember better, and also to protect all of us."

"We've only been magical girls for a short time, and we're still quite weak. We don't know how many forces are watching us from the shadows... It's always good to be cautious."

"Think about it, we can't expect the leader to personally handle everything that happens, can we?"

Suzuran finally reacted, quickly waving her hand and saying, "No, nothing of the sort. I didn't think Sakura's tone was harsh at all. I was just thinking, 'Hey? Our magical girl persona is practically the same as the superheroes in tokusatsu shows!'"

"Anyway, I've remembered everything you said, Sakura-senpai. I will definitely follow your advice!"

"I told you not to call me senpai..." Sakura's cheeks flushed slightly again. She coughed lightly and pulled out another sheet of printed paper from her notebook. "This is a floor plan of the base and an explanation of the uses of each room. You can take a look when you have time."

"Every magical girl who joins the organization has her own private rest room in the base. Suzuran, your room is ready. It's the one at the very back of the rest room, and the name 'Suzuran' is on the door."

"Although we only have a bed and a desk for now, the deputy leader and I will gradually add other things later."

"Deputy leader?" Linglan asked, somewhat surprised.

There are only three people in the organization's base right now, aren't there?

"Our organization currently has a total of four people. The deputy leader has his own affairs and usually only comes to the base in the evening."

"I see." Suzuran nodded in understanding, then took the blueprints, her eyes shining brightly. "Thank you, Sakura-senpai..."

"Still calling me senior?"

"Ah, no, that's not right." Lily of the Valley quickly corrected herself, "Thank you, Sakura!"

Hearing this unpretentious form of address, Sakura nodded in satisfaction. "Let's go, let's go see the leader."

When the two came out of the conference room, Tang Li was leaning back in her chair, resting with her eyes closed.

Hearing their voices, Tang Li opened her eyes and slowly stood up: "Sakura, you did a great job. Now, you should inform Ling Lan about the remaining basic matters."

"Now that things are settled here, you can go about your business. I have some things to attend to, so I'll be leaving now."

Sakura and Suzuran exchanged a glance and nodded in unison, "Yes, Chief."

"..." Tang Li didn't say much. She was just thinking about how to get Sakura and the others to change their way of addressing her.

"Chief" and such... that sounds really weird.

Thinking about all this, Tang Li turned and walked towards the space exit.

The silver light curtain released by the portal unfolded automatically in front of her. Tang Li stepped into it, and her figure disappeared into the base.

Looking in the direction where Tangli disappeared, Linglan blinked. Although she had only spent a short time with this leader, the silver-haired little boss had left a very deep impression on her.

The leader possesses immense power and remains calm and composed throughout any situation. Furthermore, she has never hesitated to intervene when she and Sakura were threatened.

This inexplicable sense of security it brings is just like... a mother!

Lily of the Valley was startled by the thought that had popped into her mind.

"Cherry blossoms."

"Um?"

"What do you think the leader is usually like?"

"You mean before the transformation?"

"right."

"I haven't seen him before. It seems only the vice-leader has seen him." Sakura paused, then chuckled softly, "I imagine the leader must be a mature and reliable person."

"Like a mother?"

"Huh??"

Sakura stared wide-eyed at Lily of the Valley in shock.

Does this guy even realize what he's saying?
