After driving all the way to the airport and unloading their luggage, An Jianxing went to return the car to the rental company first, while Ye Shu pushed the luggage cart that was packed full and walked towards the hall with Shen Jingwan and Xia Qing.

This... can't be overweight...

As Ye Shu pushed, he pondered in his mind.

You could hear the wheels of that car; it was incredibly heavy. My dad had given me all sorts of solid stuff, much of it of it frozen.

He remembered that the excess baggage fee on airplanes was not cheap, and he was already wondering if he would be allowed to carry his things on the plane if he was overweight.

To be honest, Ye Shu isn't very familiar with flying. He's only ever flown once, when his grandfather passed away during his university years, and he rushed back home to take a flight.

When he was in college, unless something unexpected happened, he could only go home during winter and summer vacations, which were either peak tourist seasons or the Spring Festival travel rush. Back then, plane tickets were simply impossible for a poor student like him.

He should be grateful if he could even snag a hard seat on the train.

Speaking of going home, Ye Shu still remembers one thing.

That was during his first winter break in college. He had just started studying on his own and was eager to go home, so he sat in front of his computer frantically trying to buy tickets. But whether it was because his laptop was too old or the school's internet speed was too slow, he didn't manage to buy a single ticket after several days of trying, and he even got a sore on his lip.

When the other guys in the dorm saw how pitiful he looked, they all tried to help him grab it, but strangely enough, they just couldn't get it.

Han Yang, with a toothbrush in his mouth, said:

"No... let's take a long-distance bus, but... it'll be a bit of a hassle."

Suffering?

Back then, he would have accepted anything as long as he could go home, even if it meant tying him to the back of a car with a rope.

Han Yang fiddled with the phone for a while, asked for his ID number, and clicked it:

"Alright."

Is that all? Is that all? It's that simple?

When asked, Han Yang replied:

"Since you live far away, fewer people suffer on this long-distance bus, making it easier to rob a few people."

When the day of departure finally arrived, Ye Shu's eyes were opened to a whole new world.

He was prepared to sit on the bus all the way home, but when he got there, he was surprised to find that the bus even had sleeper berths.

Should this car be simply called "Sleeper"?

It's truly a case of "mountains and rivers blocking the way, seemingly no path at all, but when someone walks, a path appears."

He never expected that he could lie all the way home in such a pleasant way. He was so excited that he almost recognized Han Yang as his godfather.

However, life always seems to throw a wrench at him when he's feeling happy.

This legendary sleeper car is so cramped that people can barely squeeze in, and once you lie down, you can't sit up anymore.

The worst part was that someone took off their shoes, and the smell... how should I put it, it was incredibly penetrating. It even cured Ye Shu's 20-year-old rhinitis.

When Ye Shu returned home, he was completely soaked in the smell. The down jacket he was wearing was left hanging in the yard for three days to dissipate the odor.

Well, I've gone off on a tangent.

Ye Shu pushed the luggage cart to the vicinity of the check-in counter, while Shen Jingwan went to complete the formalities first.

Shen Jingwan handed over the ID cards of the group, and the young lady at the check-in counter smiled, printed out the boarding passes, and pointed in a direction with a smile:

"Ms. Shen, your flight is in Area B, and your gate is B12. To access your lounge, follow this corridor straight ahead; there will be signs."

I checked my luggage again, and surprisingly, it wasn't overweight.

Ye Shu glanced in the direction the young lady was pointing and followed Shen Jingwan toward the rest area.

As he walked, he began to feel that something was amiss.

Why are there fewer and fewer people?

The surrounding environment became increasingly quiet, and there was a row of display cases on the wall containing different models of airplanes.

This... doesn't seem to be the way to the departure hall.

Ye Shu was not convinced until she saw a double door made of frosted glass, with the airline's logo and a VIP lounge on it, and a uniformed staff member by the door.

Ye Shu thought to himself, "Could it be that I've gone to the wrong place, or...?" He turned around and glanced at Shen Jingwan.

Shen Jingwan smiled and nodded at him:

"Let's go inside and wait. Your Uncle An will come over as soon as he finishes the formalities."

As she spoke, she walked toward the door. The staff at the door glanced at the boarding passes and smiled as they opened the door for them.

Ye Shu stood at the door, looking at the spacious and quiet place inside, feeling a little dazed.

It's so quiet here. It's not that everyone here is like the people in the movies, whispering and laughing like old-fashioned "hehehehe," but no one is making a lot of noise. They just sit in their seats and quietly do their own thing.

Is this the legendary VIP lounge?

Ye Shu felt like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden; his eyes weren't big enough to take it all in.

The spacious and bright space, the comfortable sofa, the table with snacks and drinks, and the decorations that looked expensive... the difference between this and the treatment he received in the ordinary waiting hall was too great.

"What are you standing there for? Go inside."

Xia Qing saw him staring blankly and nudged his arm.

Ye Shu turned around and followed Xia Qing and Shen Jingwan inside. He tried to act naturally, not like a country bumpkin visiting the city for the first time.

They found a corner to sit down. Shen Jingwan put down her small bag and said to Ye Shu:

"Xiao Shu, if you're hungry, you can go take a look over there."

She pointed to the food area over there, where all sorts of snacks and fruits were laid out, and there were several open areas where people could be seen cooking.

"You can order some noodles, wontons, or something like that."

Looking at those things, Ye Shu's petty bourgeois mentality flared up again.

This place doesn't look cheap at all. If you just order a bowl of noodles here, it's probably enough to eat several meals outside.

He quickly waved his hand and said:

"No need, Auntie, I'm not hungry yet. The food here... is definitely expensive, it's not worth it."

As soon as he finished speaking, Xia Qing grabbed his arm and pulled him up from the sofa:

"It's okay, it's my treat. Come on, let's get some food to pass the time."

"Hey, Xia Qing, I'm really not hungry, it's not worth it..."

Ye Shu was pulled towards that direction.

Shen Jingwan watched the two figures disappear into the distance, smiled slightly, and said nothing. She simply picked up a magazine and began to flip through it.

Upon arriving at the dining area, Xia Qing glanced at the menu and said to the chef in his uniform:

"Excuse me, two bowls of pickled mustard greens and shredded pork noodles, please."

Then I turned around and went to the buffet table, where I got two cups of coffee and some fruit and snacks.

Watching from the side, Ye Shu couldn't help but mentally calculate how much this noodle dish, coffee, and pastries would cost in such an expensive place.

But seeing Xia Qing picking out snacks with tongs, Ye Shu's other passive ability was triggered.

Forget it, I don't want to.

Ye Shu gritted her teeth. If Xia Qing wants to eat, then let's eat! We're already here.

I'm reluctant to part with it, but it's not like I can't afford it. What's wrong with eating it once? Eat it! Eat that bastard!

He took a deep breath, pulled out his phone, and tapped his QR code, looking ready to bravely sacrifice himself, waiting to make the payment.

Xia Qing returned with coffee and pastries. Seeing him like this, she paused for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh.

Why are you taking out your phone?

"what?"

What kind of question is that? Why would you take out your phone? What else could you be doing?

"I'll pay. You didn't bring your phone, so of course I'll pay."

Seeing his expression, as if he were about to have a major hemorrhage, Xia Qing finally couldn't hold back any longer. With a smug look of triumph, she leaned close to Ye Shu's ear and whispered:

"That's very generous, but Ye Shu, if you really want to spend some money, you might as well just transfer it to me. Anyway, the stuff here is free."
