The hospital corridor was empty and quiet at 3 a.m., except for nurses occasionally running back and forth outside the emergency surgery area.

Song Jingmo and Yin Siyao stood in front of the sink, cleaning their hands strictly according to the surgical handwashing procedure.

The cool water flowed over his slender fingers, and Song Jingmo's slightly tired face was reflected in the mirror, but his eyes remained bright and sharp.

"Why are you working so hard? You've made Leng Keyan lose over ten pounds in just one month."

Song Jingmo gave the man a cold look: "If you feel sorry for him, I'll give him to your subordinates and have you treat him like a Buddha."

"No, your reputation in the industry is far beyond what I can match. That kid is talented; he'll have a brighter future following you."

"Jade must be carved to become a useful object. You should also stop spoiling him. Don't think I don't know you've been doing his homework for him."

Yin Siyao: "Haha, I just did a good deed because I felt sorry for the child."

"There are seven or eight interns in the department, why don't you lend a hand to them all?"

"Ah, isn't it because Leng Keyan is Lu Er's nephew? I'm only doing this out of respect for you."

Song Jingmo's expression was cold: "Stop making excuses. You know perfectly well that I've lost contact with him."

"Ah, but I always felt that you two wouldn't just break up like this." Yin Siyao wanted to say something more, but Song Jingmo had already left.

"Patient Yan Xiaomei, 30 years old. Her husband struck her right knee with an iron rod, resulting in a severe comminuted fracture of the knee joint, accompanied by ligament tears and patellar dislocation."

The nurse quickly reported the situation: "Blood pressure 90/60, heart rate 120, preoperative preparations are complete."

Song Jingmo nodded and raised his hands in front of his chest as a nurse helped him adjust his scrubs.

Under the operating lights, Yan Xiaomei's right knee was swollen high, and the distorted bone outline was visible beneath the bluish-purple skin.

"Surgery begins, record time."

"There is a large amount of blood in the joint cavity, and the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are completely ruptured. The medial collateral ligament is torn, and the meniscus is severely damaged."

Song Jingmo's voice was so calm that it was impossible to detect any emotion. Only Yin Siyao, who knew him well, knew that this surgery was very difficult.

The scalpel cut through the skin, and blood immediately gushed out. The nurse next to her was so frightened that she turned her head away.

Song Jingmo's movements were precise and swift, stopping the bleeding, separating the tissue, and exposing the joint cavity.

Every step was clean and crisp, graceful and fluid, like creating a work of art.

"Don't be nervous." Yin Siyao took the tools from the nurse. "If you get tired, you can switch to another nurse."

"Okay, Dr. Yin."

Under the operating lights, fine beads of sweat appeared on Song Jingmo's forehead, which the nurse skillfully wiped away.

Yin Siyao stood opposite Song Jingmo, serving as his first assistant: "The CT scan shows that there is also a depressed fracture of the tibial plateau."

"Clear the hematoma first, repair the ligaments, and then treat the fracture," Song Jingmo instructed.

The surgery lasted two hours and only just completed the crucial step of ligament reconstruction.

Yin Siyao watched in amazement as Song Jingmo's slender fingers deftly manipulated the ligaments within the narrow joint cavity, stitching them back together.

"This surgical procedure could be used as teaching material in a class at University A."

Then she asked Song Jingmo, "What's your opinion on Professor Wen asking you to teach at A University? Don't spend all your time performing surgeries, it's too tiring."

Holding a scalpel in one hand, Song Jingmo continued Yin Siyao's question, "How many classes per week?"

Yin Siyao: "Two to three classes a week, depending on individual circumstances. If you go and are busy, we can cover each other's classes."

"And let me tell you, the salary is pretty good, almost ten thousand a month!"

"OK."

"That would be great. I'll get back to Professor Wen as soon as I finish the surgery."

Yin Siyao was overjoyed, as he had gained an extra source of income, bringing him one step closer to buying a house.

"Dr. Song, the patient's blood pressure is fluctuating a bit," the anesthesiologist reminded him.

"Increase the infusion rate and monitor oxygen saturation."

Without looking up, Song Jingmo was completely focused on his work. "Siyao, prepare the artificial meniscus."

Yin Siyao immediately handed over the artificial meniscus material that had been prepared beforehand: "Yan Xiaomei's medical records show that she is only thirty years old. So young and already..."

"So we must do everything we can to preserve her joint function." Song Jingmo's voice was filled with unwavering determination.

Yin Siyao, as Song Jingmo's assistant, closely followed his pace. Having been classmates for many years, the two had excellent chemistry.

Song Jingmo observed the inside of her knee joint through the arthroscopy monitor, while manipulating minimally invasive instruments to repair the torn meniscus bit by bit.

"Now we'll address the tibial plateau collapse." Song Jingmo put down the arthroscopy and switched to open surgery. "Prepare for bone grafting and internal fixation with plates."

The collapsed bone fragment was gently tapped open with a bone chisel and carefully repositioned. A small piece of bone tissue was then taken from the patient's own iliac bone and used to fill the cavity beneath the collapsed area.

"C-arm X-ray machine"

Yin Siyao glanced at it and said with a relaxed expression, "The X-ray shows that the bone fragments are well repositioned."

Song Jingmo nodded and selected a suitable anatomical locking plate. Fitting it snugly against the proximal tibia, screws were precisely inserted.

"Let's test the range of motion of the joints."

Yin Siyao gently flexed and extended the patient's knee joint to confirm that it was securely fixed and that the joint movement was stable.

"Flush the wound, insert a drainage tube, and prepare for suturing."

Yin Siyao said to Song Jingmo, "You rest, I'll take care of the last step."

Everyone finally relaxed when the last stitch was tied and cut.

The surgery lasted more than five hours, and the sky outside the window was already turning light.

"Surgery successful, transfer to the recovery room for observation." Song Jingmo took off his blood-stained gloves. "Notify the ward to prepare to receive the patient."

At eight o'clock in the morning, Song Jingmo, who had dozed off for a while, appeared in the office on time.

The doctor in the white coat, meticulous in his work, led a group of resident physicians and interns on their routine ward rounds.

When I arrived at Yan Xiaomei's bedside, I lingered there for a few more moments.

The person on the bed had a flushed face and was breathing rapidly.

Song Jingmo frowned, disinfected his hands, and then touched the person's forehead; it was burning hot to the touch.

"High fever." Turning to the resident physician behind him, he said, "Increase the antibiotic dosage and try physical cooling methods to see if you can bring the temperature down."

Song Jingmo bent down, put on medical gloves, and gently lifted Yan Xiaomei's arm. With one hand, he lifted the patient's clothes, and with the other hand, he reached inside to examine the patient's waist and abdomen.

This action was witnessed by Wang Bingsheng, who was standing at the door.

The person at the door stared intently at Song Jingmo's hand as he reached inside Yan Xiaomei's clothes, radiating a menacing aura.

Everyone was focused on Yan Xiaomei's condition and didn't notice the danger behind them.

"There is fluid in the abdominal cavity; closely monitor the body temperature..."

Before Song Jingmo could finish speaking, a loud roar rang out: "What the hell are you doing? You beast!"

Wang Bingsheng roared and rushed forward in three steps.

Everyone turned around and looked at the fierce-looking man in front of them.

Song Jingmo straightened up and calmly explained, "I'm examining a patient; your wife's condition isn't good."

"Examination? What respectable doctor calls touching and feeling around an examination?"
