After a month of wilderness survival, Lu Er was moved to tears as the production team's bus slowly drove into the brightly lit city.

God knows how much he misses his soft bed, hot bath, and his Dr. Song.

They struggled to chat with the faint signal after work each day, but it did nothing to ease their longing.

Back at the hotel, I couldn't wait to send Song Jingmo a message to let him know I was safe before being shoved into the styling room to prepare for tonight's Harper's Bazaar gala.

The banquet was a star-studded affair, with toasts flowing freely.

Lu Er wore the latest dark blue velvet suit from a high-end luxury brand, which made her skin look even whiter than snow.

His cherry blossom pink short hair was even more dazzling under the lights, making him look like a refined nobleman who had stepped out of an anime.

In the center of the banquet hall, Lu Er was dealing with several industry bigwigs who came over to chat, but her mind had already flown to Song Jingmo, who was wearing a white coat.

Ye Qingge wore an elegantly tailored white off-shoulder dress, the hem of which was adorned with tiny diamonds, making her look like a fairy under the moonlight, both aloof and captivating.

As soon as he appeared, many people came forward to greet him and offer him a toast.

Looking at her from afar, Lu Er thought that Ye Qingge was indeed quite beautiful tonight, but she couldn't compare to the refined and aloof beauty of his Dr. Song.

As he was silently comparing them in his mind, he suddenly realized that Ye Qingge's condition seemed a bit off.

Ye Qingge subconsciously turned her head and covered her mouth several times, showing obvious signs of nausea.

Another man with a wine glass approached, and Lu Er couldn't stand it anymore. She took a few steps forward and stood in front of Ye Qingge.

With an impeccable smile on his face, he said, "Mr. Wang, Sister Qingge isn't feeling well. I'll drink this glass of wine for her, what do you think?"

After saying that, without waiting for the other person to react, he took the glass of wine and drank it all in one gulp, his movements swift and decisive.

After seeing Mr. Wang off, Lu Er turned to Ye Qingge and whispered, "Are you alright? You look terrible, should we go to the hospital?"

Ye Qingge shook her head weakly, her voice strained: "I think I ate something wrong tonight, and I also drank some alcohol, so I feel a bit nauseous. I'm sorry for causing you trouble."

He had barely finished speaking when he abruptly covered his mouth. He gagged, and cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.

"I'll help you to the restroom."

Seeing this, Lu Er disregarded the need to avoid suspicion, grabbed the person's arm, and half-carried, half-helped them towards the restroom.

I was quite puzzled. We ate the same food that the hotel provided for us that night, and everyone else was fine.

After escorting Ye Qingge to the women's restroom, Lu Er waited outside and asked worriedly, "Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?"

Ye Qingge leaned against the wall, took a breath, and shook her head: "No need, I just need to rest for a bit."

Seeing that she insisted, Lu Er didn't say anything more. Just as he was about to wait for her to come out and then take her back to her seat to rest, a sarcastic voice rang out behind him.

"Wow, you're already inseparable from your new partner so quickly?"

Cong Jinyue's eyes darted back and forth between Lu Er and the women's restroom, his tone so sour it could pickle cucumbers, "You really are chivalrous, aren't you afraid Dr. Song will get jealous?"

Lu Er ignored him and just wanted to wait for Ye Qingge to come out.

Cong Jinyue persisted, moving closer and lowering her voice, her tone laced with malice and incomprehension: "I really don't understand, what's so good about that Song Jingmo?"

"He's almost thirty, how can he compare to me in terms of physical strength and energy? What do you want from him? His age? His lack of hygiene?"

Cong Jinyue's words became increasingly outrageous, her face radiating a self-righteous sense of superiority. "It's not too late for you to change your mind now. Being with me will guarantee you're happier than with that old man."

"Cong Jinyue, shut the fuck up!" Lu Er turned his head sharply, his eyes instantly turning cold, as if they were filled with ice.

Song Jingmo is his bottom line, and no one can slander him.

"What, did I say something wrong?"

Cong Jinyue was momentarily intimidated by Lu Er's gaze, but quickly straightened her back. "He's just a poor doctor. Can his monthly salary even buy you a new outfit?"

Lu Er's chest heaved with anger: "Even if he has nothing, I'll still love him."

"So what if you're thirty? Thirty-year-olds are mature, stable, and charming, a million times better than you, a twenty-something who just spews nonsense!"

Cong Jinyue was furious: "What does he have besides that face? Does he even deserve to be compared to me?"

"Whether he's worthy or not isn't for you to decide!" Lu Er was furious. "He's much better than a piece of trash like you who got famous just by spending money."

"Who are you calling trash?" Cong Jinyue's face flushed red as he was hit where it hurt.

"I'm talking to you, so what?" Lu Er retorted without backing down.

The two were at loggerheads, arguing fiercely, drawing the attention of those around them.

Lu Er was completely enraged when Cong Jinyue continued to taunt that "Song Jingmo is an old man and no good."

He stepped forward and slapped her across the face.

"Snapped!"

A crisp, resounding slap landed squarely on Cong Jinyue's astonished face.

The entire corridor fell silent instantly.

Lu Er shook her slightly numb hand and looked coldly at Cong Jinyue, who was covering her face in disbelief.

His tone was extremely sarcastic: "You're so ordinary yet so confident, has reality never slapped you in the face, making you unable to recognize your own worth?"

"Lu Er, did you hit me?"

Ye Qingge, who was standing to the side, was stunned by the sudden violence and turned even paler with fright.

Ignoring her discomfort, she rushed forward and grabbed Lu Er's arm tightly, hiding from the camera: "Stop fighting, let's go quickly."

Seeing Cong Jinyue's cowardly appearance, Lu Er knew that it wouldn't look good if she continued to make a scene, so she glared at Cong Jinyue fiercely.

After saying, "If I ever hear you being so foul-mouthed again, I'll beat you every time I see you," he helped the still-shaken Ye Qingge up and turned to leave this place of trouble.
