Chapter 60 Sexy Professor, Online Fight Challenge

Chapter 61 Sexy Professor, Online Fight Challenge

"Aba aba aba————"

Mason lay on his back on the ground, his eyes rolled back, making incomprehensible noises.

The reason is simple: because the mental energy that Charles unleashed in that instant was so strong and powerful, he almost took a powerful area-of-effect attack right in the face. Fortunately, that energy was just like the waste heat generated by a machine, and it didn't have any real offensive power. Otherwise, he would be considering his next reincarnation right now.

"What happened to the promised mental defense?!"

Feeling as if his brain and body had been separated into different parts, Mason asked weakly in his mind, "The bodyguard failed in his duty—"

'

"Ah—this—"

Kuroshi Kasumi stammered, "Just now—cough—I didn't notice—"

Mason's true intentions were revealed: "Add another half month!"

Kuroshi Kasumi exclaimed in shock, "Isn't this extortion going too far, customer?!"

The voice wasn't very firm, so Mason probed, "Then should I file a complaint?"

—In fact, he didn't even know if this matter could be used to file a complaint, or whether the Yabo people had any complaint channels for doing business.

But it seemed she'd been right, because Kuroshi Kasumi immediately exclaimed in horror, "Add! Add anything! Half a month it is!"

After saying those two sentences to himself, Mason felt much better, and his blurred vision gradually returned to normal.

When he opened his eyes, he saw Charles with eyes full of apology.

"I'm sorry, I didn't expect that suddenly getting rid of the black mud would cause my power to temporarily go out of control." He asked nervously, "Mr. Mason, are you alright?"

"I'm alright." Mason stood up, still a little dizzy. "I have to say, after that, the nausea I felt from eating that mud is all gone."

"You really are something else—"

Not far from him, Lorna sat on the ground and sighed, "Did you crawl out of a scary box? How many strange things are you hiding? Just take them all out at once."

"Wouldn't that mean there wouldn't be any surprise? You'll find out later." Mason shook his head vigorously, completely shaking off the dizziness, and then said, "—Won't such a commotion cause any problems?"

"Besides those as close as us, only psychic abilities could have sensed that commotion just now." Lorna brushed the dust off as she stood up. "Emma and Jean wouldn't have been defeated by something like that—tsk, they arrived after just one mention?"

She turned her head and looked at Qin, who was rushing over from a distance, then promptly rolled her eyes.

"professor!"

Jean, who had been running but was actually flying close to the ground, exclaimed in shock, "What's going on—Professor, your ability—?"

"That's right, it's recovered—or rather, it's improved." Charles nodded. "Thanks to Mason, we've gotten rid of this problem that's been bothering us for years so easily."

"what?"

Qin was completely bewildered: "What do you mean?"

"The meeting is about to begin," Charles said. "Let's go over there and talk."

The group then quickly took the elevator down to the basement of the teaching building and entered a spacious conference room. Nearly thirty members of the X-Men, including those already there and those who arrived later, were present. They included Wolverine, Cyclops, White Queen, Beast Shockwave, Colossus, Phantom Cat, Nightcrawler, Darwin, Angel, and a host of other famous figures. Led by Professor Charles Xavier, they had gathered here to deal with the impending crisis.

Once everyone was present, Charles gave a lengthy explanation that lasted over ten minutes—I'll skip the details, since everyone knows what happened anyway.

As a result, Mason, sitting at the front of the conference table, was surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. Their different gazes encompassed a variety of emotions, mostly shock and confusion, with a very few displaying a kind of innocent naiveté like that of college students—after all, a large number of people here had taken up their posts directly after graduation, so their behavior was quite reasonable.

The good news is that there was no malice involved, and the kind of idiotic plot found in some brainless publications, such as "Although we are facing a formidable enemy, we are going to put on a show of infighting and end up killing everyone," didn't happen. Mason was very relieved.

"That's what happened before."

After finishing his explanation, Charles gestured to Mason with his palm and slowly said, "So, Mr. Cecil Lee Mason officially joins the X-Men from today onwards. Does everyone agree?"

----------------------

This sounds like a boss saying on stage, "We'll be working overtime for the next few days, are you willing?" But in the X-Men, the atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed, and the professor's words were met with cheers of approval.

"Agreed," Logan replied simply.

"I think it's fine." The beast nodded.

"Welcome." Colossus gave a friendly smile. "Alright, alright, you'll be my partner from now on. I'll keep an eye on you and keep you charged." Scott, who was sitting next to Mason, lowered his voice as he spoke, "Okay—we'll go talk to the professor later and ask him to let us be a golden duo, so we won't always be fighting while being bothered by Logan."

"Since the professor and Lorna both think there's no problem—" Storm also cautiously expressed her agreement.

And so, the resolution was presented and passed unanimously, and Mason officially joined the X-Men.

In the past two days, Mason and most of them have at least become familiar faces, and their average impression score is excellent. Now that he has done the professor a great favor, this result is only to be expected.

Judging from the atmosphere, Mason suspected they were going to clap and say congratulations or something similar. A harmonious corporate atmosphere is indeed a good thing, but having spent too much time in a terrible company, he suddenly felt a strange sense of unease. Perhaps this is a manifestation of how the social melting pot turns people into monsters.

"Then, the second topic."

Charles tapped on the conference table to quiet everyone down.

"As everyone knows, since Eric has sent Riven to try and take me down, it means their preparations are complete," he said seriously. "That means the battle won't be long, and this one might be bigger than any before."

"Regardless of the scale, just keep your sights on victory and keep pushing forward—that's how we've gotten here all this time," Logan said calmly.

"That's right, running away doesn't guarantee safety," Storm added. "Just welcome them as warmly as before; the tasks remain the same."

The others echoed their agreement, and Mason joined in the chorus with a couple of shouts.

"As usual, if you encounter any difficulties, please let us know beforehand." Charles looked around and said, "For example, Mason, although you are now a full member of the X-Men, you probably don't have much experience fighting powerful mutants. If you have any concerns, you will not be included in the upcoming operation plan."

"I'm fine." Mason stroked his chin and answered cheerfully, "My abilities give me a high margin for error. Besides, since I'm already here, how can I not experience such a grand occasion?"

As he said, since people have already voluntarily come and sat here, why would they run away halfway?

To make a name for yourself in the Marvel Universe, you can't do it without honing your skills through battles.

"Understood. From now on, you'll be in a group with Scott, Logan, and Piotr, responsible for guarding the perimeter of the defense system."

After confirming that no one wanted to quit, Charles quickly and decisively began to assign combat teams, which were basically combinations of ranged, melee, and support personnel, each responsible for different areas. Members with healing abilities moved back and forth between different areas, while the strongest members guarded the inner circle of the academy to ensure the safety of the students. The overall plan had a very high margin for error and had clearly been practiced many times, demonstrating the professionalism of the SWAT team.

This is much more reasonable than the idiotic gameplay of a few people standing still and attacking in movies.

After quickly devising a response plan, Charles breathed a sigh of relief, then pulled an old-fashioned flip phone from his pocket, turned it on, dialed, and activated the hands-free function.

Upon seeing this, the police officers all became serious.

What are they doing?

"Beep—Beep—"

99

After ringing twice, the call was answered.

"Eric, Riven has been caught," Charles said bluntly. "She failed. What are you going to do?"

Could this be—an online fight challenge?!

You two old men are so fashionable, holy crap!

"I see." An aged but unhurried male voice came from the other end of the phone. "In that case—I will arrive at the academy in half an hour. Get ready, this may be the last battle."

Before the battle even began, the leaders of the two factions contacted each other online to discuss the timing of the operation. This was so sophisticated and fashionable.

Mason, who had never expected this turn of events, was utterly shocked.

"Half an hour later?" Charles replied calmly. "Okay, let's set it for that time."

"9

"See you on the battlefield, old friend."

Magneto Erik sighed softly, then hung up the phone.

Just as Mason thought the professor was about to give an exciting speech, he saw him suddenly speed up his speech and shout, "Hank, activate the defense system to the highest level, deploy the drone surveillance network, preheat the Ororo weapon system, and have the students stay in the teaching buildings or dormitories and not go out—everyone else, grab your equipment and head to your respective assigned areas immediately!"

Halfway through his sentence, the police officers began to move in an orderly fashion. Mason was immediately grabbed by Logan and Scott, one on each side, and rushed towards the door. This lightning-fast reaction stunned him, and he could only ask intermittently as he was being jostled forward—

"What is this—? Is it—in such a hurry?"

"Ha, you just don't know anything about that bastard Magneto."

Logan shouted as he ran, "What do you mean, half an hour later? Don't think he's someone who keeps his promises. He might already have the academy surrounded!"

"How could he be so shameless, holy crap!" Mason exclaimed in shock. "Isn't he an old friend of the professor?"

"It's easier to trick someone you've known for a long time—" Colossus laughed heartily as he followed behind. "From what I know, Eric has broken his promises to the Professor more than twenty times in his life; he's a habitual offender!"

"Awesome."

A dozen seconds later, Mason was carried by two men to another spacious room. There were several rows of tall, square cabins that could accommodate several people at the same time. Through the glass walls, you could see that they were full of all kinds of unique equipment. In addition, there were several large cabinets containing a large amount of military equipment, so much so that they could probably arm a company to the teeth.

The X-Men entered the room, each finding a different pod. They opened it, went inside, and donned various gear. Some of the more difficult-to-wear pods even had robotic arms for assistance. In just a few moments, they transformed into highly armed future warriors, exuding an aura of money from head to toe—damn, how much did they all spend on in-game purchases? And shouldn't these guys be wearing tight-fitting suits and going into battle? Is this style even right?

After entering the room, Logan and Scott put Mason down. Logan pointed to the cabinet and said, "Go and pick out a set of equipment that suits you. You've just joined, and we haven't had time to develop equipment based on your characteristics yet, so we can only make do with mass-produced items for now."

After saying that, they quickly went to their equipment compartments and started getting dressed.

"Is this what a professional team looks like? I'm really impressed."

Mason's lips twitched twice, then he rushed to the cabinet and, based on Cecil's training experience in Hydra, picked out a complete set of equipment for himself, including a Kevlar body armor, tactical helmet, shotgun, M16, smoke grenades, stun grenades, high-explosive grenades, and so on. In just a few minutes, he transformed from a teacher in a suit and tie into a fully armed special forces soldier.

But before he could even look in the mirror, he heard heavy footsteps behind him.

Looking back, they saw Colossus, Logan, and Scott, all fully equipped.

They have changed a lot now.

Colossus wore an exaggeratedly heavy, fully enclosed metal armor, wielded two abstractly large-caliber super-heavy machine guns that looked more like cannons than guns, and carried a box of ammunition on his back that weighed at least several hundred kilograms.

Scott wore a light suit of armor, but his head was covered by a spherical helmet that looked like a fishbowl, made of red triangular crystals.

Logan's style was simple: he carried four guns on his back and wore a black metal helmet.

"Let's talk as we walk!"

At Logan's command, the four of them quickly headed to one of the multiple elevators in the underground space.

During the run, Mason finally voiced his question.

"What's going on here?" he asked, bewildered. "The newspapers never mentioned the X-Men having such outrageous equipment!"

"Of course, one should be more discreet when fighting in public."

Scott stepped into the elevator and replied, "This is a real battle now. Although we have superpowers, we are not cavemen, so we should use whatever equipment is the best we can."

"That's right, look at this armor of mine, made entirely of tungsten steel, with a built-in intelligent fire control system. Although it's more fragile than my main body, getting hit while wearing it won't hurt as much," Colossus said. "Plus these two 42mm heavy machine guns, and I've become a man capable of dealing damage—damn, if you can fight at long range, what decent person would prefer to throw punches?"

Is that your reason for weighing several tons now? That's fucking convincing!

"Time is running out, so let me briefly summarize the fighting style of people like us."

The elevator quickly reached the ground floor, and the four of them filed out. As Logan ran, he said to Mason, "People like us have almost no stamina limitations, so we don't need to worry about muscle strains or lactic acid buildup. Just focus on exhausting our stamina. Anyway, the others can't outlast us. Don't worry about getting injured. Even trading a penetrating wound for a small wound on the enemy is worthwhile. But avoid losing body parts. Even if you can recover from being blown apart, it will waste some time. Of course, if your regenerative abilities are stronger than mine, you can ignore this sentence."

The four of them rushed along the road to the outer perimeter of the academy. About two kilometers away from the teaching building, a bright yellow energy shield that covered the entire academy had been activated. However, when they arrived, an exit quickly opened under the shield, allowing them to rush out. Along with them came probably more than a thousand rotor drones.

Inside the shield, the police officers, divided into several squads, were already in position. The teaching buildings, dormitories, and other buildings of the castle, which originally looked like ordinary castles, now had hundreds of powerful-looking turrets on their roofs. Countless drones equipped with gun modules and self-destruct modules were hovering and flying inside the shield. Judging from the situation, it was unlikely that without the force of an entire army group, not even a hair on the academy's head could be damaged.

Modern (questionable) technology is truly powerful, incredibly powerful!

This is the level of power a wealthy force with frequent combat needs should exhibit! The brawl at the village entrance in the movie was really pathetic.

"Our mission is to operate outside the shield, clearing out enemies trying to infiltrate the Institute from different directions, rather than engaging the Brotherhood's main force head-on."

After speaking to Mason, Scott used the communicator built into his helmet to ask the academy, "How's it going? Have you found the surveillance network?"

After a series of static sounds, the four-man squad simultaneously received a message from Hank: "Ha, I knew Eric wouldn't wait patiently for half an hour—a mechanical scout unit has been spotted to the southeast. Go and clear those things out."

"receive."

Scott responded, then said to the other three, "Let's go, our mission has begun."

After saying that, he quickly changed the formation, with Colossus at the front, Mason and Logan on the left and right flanks, and Scott at the back, adopting a style of three tanks protecting one AD carry, which can be said to be very reasonable.

These people were all running very fast, but Mason easily kept up. Just like Logan's earlier advice, he abandoned the concerns he had about stamina allocation as an ordinary person and ran at full speed the whole way. His energy easily solved the problem of fatigue, allowing him to run at full speed for several kilometers without feeling tired.

However, it's one thing that the three of them, being physically strong, could run like that, but the fact that Scott, a long-range fighter, could keep up with them so easily is truly awe-inspiring in every sense.
