Brother, just how powerful is our family?

Chapter 353 The Fear of the Calamity Nest Master

The Lord of Calamity can wait.

It has lived for tens of millions of years, so what does it matter if it waits for a few hundred or a few thousand more years?

Time passed slowly amidst the harassment and recovery of the Kujira Beast.

Several years, more than ten years, decades.

The calculations of the Lord of Calamity were correct.

The Yanhuang civilization indeed did not have the ability to traverse six thousand light-years.

At least, not in the first few decades.

Intelligence reports from the harassing forces indicate that the Yanhuang civilization has been continuously strengthening its defenses, developing new technologies, and building new warships.

However, their activity range has always been limited to a few hundred light-years around the solar system.

The home of the Beasts, six thousand light-years away, is far beyond their reach.

Occasionally, the Lord of Calamity would observe the movements of the Yanhuang civilization through the rift.

It saw thousands of Conqueror-class warships patrolling in those node star systems.

It saw that on those inhabited planets, cities were expanding in dense clusters.

It saw countless civilian spacecraft shuttling back and forth in those spaceports.

The Yanhuang civilization is flourishing and becoming increasingly powerful.

But all of this was within the Lord of Calamity's expectations.

It's not in a hurry. It has plenty of time.

The ancient behemoth is slowly recovering.

The exoskeleton is regrowth, the energy organs are gradually repairing, and the craters dug by the quantum foam bombs are being filled little by little by the newly formed tissue.

This process will take hundreds of years, or even longer. But the Lord of Calamity can wait.

This day was no different from any other.

The starry sky above the Beast's Homeland remains a dim and desolate scene.

A few lonely stars burned in the distance, emitting a faint red glow.

The thin nebula drifted slowly through the void, like a veil that seemed to be barely visible.

The nest floated silently in the darkness, with a few serpent beasts occasionally crawling across its surface, patrolling.

The Lord of Calamity, in the hollow center of the nest, shuts off all his light-sensitive organs and is immersed in a semi-dormant state.

Its tens of millions of years of life have taught it to conserve its energy during long waits.

Its consciousness drifted between sleep and wakefulness, occasionally processing the intelligence relayed by the harassing forces, and occasionally keeping an eye on the recovery progress of the ancient behemoth.

Everything was peaceful.

Then, the alarm went off.

The alarm sounded from the defense system of the Beast Nest was a sound that had not been heard for hundreds of millions of years.

The calamity nest master's light-sensitive organs opened up instantly. Its consciousness snapped out of its semi-dormant state, like a bucket of ice water being poured over its head.

"What's going on?!"

"Spatial anomaly! Large-scale spatial fluctuation!" the monitoring Beast Commander screamed in the consciousness network. "It's 0.3 light-years from the lair! It's rapidly expanding!"

The consciousness of the Calamity Nest Lord swept across that area in an instant.

It sensed the violent fluctuations in space, as if something was tearing the void from within.

That kind of fluctuation was all too familiar to him.

Those were the fluctuations that occurred when the fissure formed. But this is not the fissure of the Kujira beast.

Each fissure of the Beast is controlled by a fissure generator in the nest, and each opening requires a clear command from the Calamity Nest Master.

And now, it has not ordered any cracks to be opened.

"It's not our rift!" The monitoring commander's voice was filled with fear. "It's the enemy's! They've torn space apart!"

The Lord of Calamity's heart sank.

It immediately connected to the nest's remote monitoring system via the consciousness network, focusing the sensor on the abnormal area.

It saw it.

In the void, a massive rift is opening.

It wasn't the irregular, rough-edged fissures of the Kujira, but rather a regular, smooth-edged, perfectly elliptical fissure.

The inside of the rift was not dark, but a pale blue light, like a door to another world.

A warship slowly emerged from the light.

This warship is at least 500 kilometers away.

Its hull is dark black, and its surface is covered with protruding turrets and sensor arrays.

Its bow has a huge cannon with a muzzle diameter of over ten kilometers, dark and gaping like an eye gazing into the abyss.

On its hull was a flag, a blue flag with a golden dragon, which fluttered in the starlight.

The Yanhuang civilization.

The calamity nest master could not believe his own light-sensitive organs.

Six thousand light-years. A distance of six thousand light-years. How did they come to be?

They couldn't possibly have the technology to traverse six thousand light-years. Decades ago, they were still slowly crawling in spaceships traveling at sixty times the speed of light.

How could someone master the technology of space jump in such a short time?

But the facts are undeniable. The rift is widening. More warships are emerging from the light.

The second, the third, the tenth, the hundredth. Some are 500 kilometers long, some are 100 kilometers long, and some are tens of kilometers long.

They formed neat battle formations, pouring out of the cracks like a river of steel, spreading out in the void.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!" The consciousness of the Calamity Nest Master exploded within the lair. "All beasts, enter battle mode! All ancient behemoths, awaken immediately! Rift generators, full power! Open all passages!"

The nest instantly erupted in chaos.

Countless worms awoke from their slumber and surged forth from the various chambers of their lair.

Their size ranges from several hundred meters to tens of kilometers.

Their compound eyes lit up in the darkness, like countless dark red lamps.

Eight ancient behemoths are also being urgently awakened.

Their exoskeletons still bear the scars of the last battle, the new tissues are not yet fully mature, and their energy organs have only recovered less than half.

But we can't worry about that now. The enemy has reached our doorstep; we must fight back.

The defense system on the surface of the nest was activated. Countless beams of light shot out from the surface of the nest, heading towards the fleet of the Yanhuang civilization.

Those beams of light traveled at the speed of light, leaving dazzling trails in the void.

But the fleet of the Yanhuang civilization was prepared.

The energy shield opens the instant before the beam arrives, absorbing or deflecting most of it.

A few beams that pierced the shield left shallow scorch marks on the thick armor, nothing more.

The fleet of the Yanhuang civilization began to counterattack.

The prow cannons of the twelve largest warships began to charge.

That wasn't an ordinary particle beam cannon, nor an electromagnetic railgun, but a weapon that the Calamity Nest Lord had never seen before.

It sensed that the space around the cannon was distorting, gravity was fluctuating abnormally, and a destructive energy was condensing.

"Dodge! All units dodge!" the Calamity Nest Lord commanded.

But it was too late.

The first Avenger-class Star Destroyer opened fire.

An invisible force field, traveling at the speed of light, struck the nearest medium-sized kujiki.

The beast's body began to collapse instantly, squeezing from the inside out, like a crumpled piece of paper.

Its exoskeleton shattered, its internal tissues were compressed to the extreme, and then it disappeared.

At its location, a tiny, almost invisible black hole appeared.

The black hole evaporated within seconds, releasing enormous energy that tore several nearby gull-like beasts to shreds.

The Lord of Calamity felt fear. Real, unprecedented fear.
