As soon as he stepped out the door, Zhang Guohua couldn't help but exhale a long puff of white air, his old face beaming like a blooming chrysanthemum: "That felt great! That was fucking great! In all my years, this is the best I've ever felt before!"

Xu Wenqiang was so excited he was practically dancing with joy: "Dr. Ye, that 'Not for sale' you just said was so cool! I think that American's face turned green!"

Ye Zhen wrapped her coat tighter around herself, and the tension she had felt in the meeting room eased a little, followed by a wave of fatigue.

A warm, large hand reached out and tightly enveloped her hand in its palm.

Gu Zheng turned his head and looked at his wife's slightly tired appearance after her arrogant demeanor. He couldn't suppress the smile in his eyes.

"Wife, you fought a brilliant battle," he said softly, his voice filled with undisguised pride.

Ye Zhen turned her head and winked at him, the icy look in her eyes melting away and turning into a hint of mischievousness that belonged to a young woman.

"This is nothing."

She looked at the searchlight beams flashing above the Berlin Wall in the distance, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"Let's go, let's fill our stomachs first. We need to be well-rested so they can bring us the good stuff."

Gu Zheng smiled, reached out to help her turn up her collar to block the wind, and said in a doting yet domineering tone, "Okay, whatever the boss says. What do you want to eat? I think the braised pork knuckle at that place on the corner looks good. Let's go try some of the sugar-coated bullets of capitalism."

Back at the hotel, the room was still not warm enough, but that didn't stop the people from steaming.

Zhang Guohua was still excited and paced back and forth in the narrow passageway, his cloth shoes with thick soles making a clattering sound on the floor.

"Xiao Ye, that trick of yours was brilliant!" Zhang Guohua rubbed his hands, his face flushed. "I think those Germans' eyes were practically popping out of their sockets!"

Ye Zhen took off her red coat and hung it on the hanger. Her expression, compared to the coldness she had displayed at the conference, held a more relaxed, homely air. She walked to the table, picked up a pen, and spread out a sheet of paper.

Gu Zheng leaned against the doorframe, toying with the military dagger in his hand, his eyes gleaming with amusement: "Wife, is tonight's dinner a trap?"

"It was a trap, like the Feast at Hongmen, but Xiang Zhuang's sword dance was actually aimed at Liu Bang. Who will be Liu Bang and who will be Xiang Yu is still uncertain."

Ye Zhen's pen flew across the paper, making a rustling sound.

Xu Wenqiang leaned closer to take a look and immediately gasped in shock.

The paper was covered with German text, all of which were obscure medical and engineering terms.

"DSA digital subtraction angiography machine (Siemens Angiostar Plus model)... cardiac electrophysiology recorder... aortic balloon counterpulsation pump..." Xu Wenqiang pushed up his glasses, his voice trembling, "Dr. Ye, these... these are all on the COCOM embargo list! Can they give them to us?"

This is outrageous! This isn't a shopping list, it's a robbery list!

Upon hearing this, Zhang Guohua paused, his joy fading slightly, his brows furrowing deeply: "Yes, Xiao Ye. Technology is technology, and politics is politics. Siemens may want to make money, but would they dare violate the COCOM agreement?"

Ye Zhen stopped writing and blew the ink off the paper.

She turned around, the light reflecting in her cool eyes like a hunting rifle poised to fire.

"Uncle Zhang, you said it yourself, it's an agreement." Ye Zhen smiled faintly. "Westerners value the spirit of contracts the most, and they are also the most adept at exploiting loopholes in contracts. The so-called embargo is because we don't have it. When we have it, or even better than them, the embargo will be nothing but a piece of waste paper."

"Do we... have any?" Xu Wenqiang asked, his voice lacking confidence.

"So tonight I'm not just going to negotiate, I'm going to 'teach' them a lesson." Ye Zhen folded the paper and put it in her pocket. "When a hunter's gun is fast enough, a wolf will not only not bite, but will wag its tail."

Gu Zheng clicked as he sheathed the dagger, putting it back into the leather sheath at his waist.

He walked over, reached out and smoothed Ye Zhen's slightly disheveled sideburns, his eyes filled with a mixture of doting and arrogance: "Fine. You're the hunter, and I'm the gun. Tonight, whoever dares to bare their teeth, I'll shoot them."

……

7:50 PM.

Kempinski Hotel West Berlin.

This luxurious hotel, originally built in the 19th century, is filled with Baroque extravagance. The crystal chandeliers are enormous, resembling hot air balloons, and the carpets are so soft they sink into your ankles.

Siemens CEO Thomas and organizing committee chairman Schmidt arrived long ago.

Besides them, there was also a middle-aged man in a gray suit with messy hair, looking at his watch with an impatient expression.

"Thomas, you called me here just to see a Chinese woman?" The middle-aged man wasn't wearing a tie, and two buttons of his shirt were undone. He was twirling a drawing pen in his hand. "I still have three sets of data to run in my lab! What kind of technically skilled doctors can China have? They can't even understand basic circuit diagrams!"

This is Hans, the chief engineer of Siemens Medical Devices and one of the top mechanical experts in Europe, with a temper as foul as a rock in a latrine.

"Hans, calm down." Thomas took a sip of red wine, his expression grave. "That surgical method and suturing technique, if combined with specialized instruments, could truly bring about a leap forward..."

"What does that prove?" Hans scoffed, slamming his pen on the table. "I don't believe anyone in a country that can't even produce decent stainless steel could understand these things!"

When Ye Zhen pushed open the heavy oak door, the complaints inside did not stop.

The middle-aged man, his hair a tangled mess, stood with his back to the door, tapping his drawing pen loudly on the table. His speech was rapid-fire, like a machine gun: "Thomas, my time is precious. The prototype in the lab still has a problem with overheating, and you want me here drinking tea with a bunch of Chinese people? This is practically murder!"

Thomas's hand, holding the wine glass, froze in mid-air. He coughed awkwardly and looked past Hans's shoulder toward the door.

Ye Zhen had specially changed into a black blazer today, with a plain white shirt underneath, buttoned up tightly at the collar. This kind of outfit wasn't fashionable in the West at that time, and even seemed a bit rigid, but on her, it exuded a capable and aloof air.

Behind her, Gu Zheng, dressed casually with his hands in his pockets, stood seemingly at ease, but his hawk-like eyes swept over everyone in the room in an instant. That invisible sense of oppression made Schmidt, sitting in the corner, subconsciously shrink back.

Hans finally turned around. He narrowed his bloodshot eyes, his gaze lingering on Ye Zhen for less than two seconds before letting out a mocking snort.

"This is the so-called miracle doctor?" Hans tossed his drawing pen onto the table, turned to Thomas, and said, "My God, she doesn't even look as old as my daughter. Does she think an angiography machine is as simple as a toaster in the kitchen?"

Zhang Guohua and Xu Wenqiang stood behind. Although they couldn't understand the rapid, forceful German, even a fool could see the undisguised contempt on Hans's face. Xu Wenqiang's face flushed instantly, and Zhang Guohua clenched his fists.

Gu Zheng took a step forward, his tall figure casting a shadow under the light, completely enveloping Hans.

Just as he was about to "teach" this arrogant foreigner a lesson, a hand gently rested on his forearm.

Ye Zhen's fingers were slender and fair, with slightly cool fingertips, yet they carried a soothing power. She didn't look at Gu Zheng, but gently patted the back of his hand twice, signaling him to calm down.

Then, she walked past the crowd and went straight to the long table covered with a clean white tablecloth.

Pull out the chair, sit down, and adjust your posture.

Her actions were fluid and seamless, without any unnecessary hesitation, as if she were sitting not at someone else's negotiating table, but in the director's office of her own hospital.

She looked up, her gaze passing over the expensive bouquet of roses in the center of the table, and striking directly into Hans's bloodshot eyes.

"It seems someone is questioning my professionalism?"
