Tomb raiding: A mere 20 is nothing!

Chapter 138 First Arrival at the New Moon Hotel

The sudden turn of events for Li's mother caught her off guard. After calmly handling everything, Shen Mingchao felt somewhat tired, not physically, but mentally.

This is probably the aftereffect of extreme emotional fluctuations.

Unfortunately, she was surrounded by shrewd people who could discern others' emotions with just a few words, especially Xie Yuchen.

[In the Ming Dynasty, there's an auction at the Crescent Moon Hotel. They sent me an invitation, and I happen to need a female companion. If you're interested, come with me; it'll be a good way to relax.]

The four large characters of "New Moon Hotel" came into view, and Shen Mingchao was somewhat tempted, not for any other reason than that this was a legendary place that could make Wu Xie owe 260 million.

Since we're already here, we should at least see who's better.

Shen Mingchao told the Aluminum Triangle about this, and the three of them reacted differently.

Su Wan immediately expressed his desire to go, saying he had plenty of money and could get invitations. Yang Hao, however, avoided eye contact; he was short of money and embarrassed to trouble his brother. The last person, Li Cu, remained silent; his mother was in a coma, and he had been very depressed.

"Then..." Su Wan lowered his head, secretly delighted, and said, "Can I go with Mingchao?"

There are too many wolves and not enough meat these days, so every little bit we can grab is a piece of cake.

Shen Mingchao took in the expressions of the three men, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. He casually pulled out three gold-embossed invitations from his bag and waved them at the three of them.

"Alright, I have the invitation, let's go together."

"Wow, Mingchao, where did you get these three? Did Teacher Xie give them to you?" Su Wan's eyes widened.

Shen Mingchao shook his head: "No, Brother Xiaohua didn't give me an invitation. I'm his date, so I don't need one. I bought these three."

"I bought it!" Li Chu jumped up and down. "I didn't even say I was going! Why did you spend this money?!"

Yang Hao chimed in, "Yes, it doesn't matter whether we go or not. We've been before. Ming Dynasty, you don't need to worry about us at all."

"How much is this? I'll transfer it to you." Su Wan was more direct, taking out his phone to transfer the money.

Shen Mingchao remained calm and casually tossed the ticket aside, saying, "You guys aren't going? Oh well, fine then. But we've already bought the tickets, we can't let them go to waste. I'll go find someone else—"

"No!"

Li Chu interrupted Shen Mingchao's words completely subconsciously, finding the phrase "find someone else" particularly jarring.

Su Wan tugged at Li Cu's sleeve and said in a negotiating tone, "Li Cu, go ahead, put the blame on me."

"Don't worry about it." Shen Mingchao slapped the invitations into the hands of the three people one by one. "I don't need your money. I only have one request: dress presentably."

Three handsome men, each 1.8 meters tall, dressed in suits and with hair gel, looked very presentable.

Shen Mingchao walked at the front, her long hair tied into a bun on the side, adorned with a lilac tassel hair ornament.

She wore a haute couture short suit jacket on the outside, and underneath was a light purple strapless fairy dress. The skirt was like layers of purple mist spreading out, and the dress was shimmering with light, making it dreamy and ethereal.

Unfortunately, she and her high heels were still strangers to each other, and she walked mechanically, step by step, shattering the fairy-tale filter instantly.

Shen Mingchao had no choice but to support Li Cu's arm as they walked forward, while Su Wan and Yang Hao behind them kept a close eye on the train, afraid that Shen Mingchao would trip and fall.

Finally, the Crescent Hotel came into view.

Looking at this magnificent Chinese-style building, Shen Mingchao vaguely sensed the weight of its century-old history.

"The Ming Dynasty." Xie Yuchen, who was standing at the door, snapped out of his daze and quickly stepped forward.

Shen Mingchao naturally took Xie Yuchen's arm and asked softly, "Have you been waiting long?"

"No, you've come at the perfect time."

Xie Yuchen inadvertently exchanged glances with Li Cu and the other two. The incident involving Li's mother happened suddenly, and he had been shuttling between the hospital and the company. He managed to speak with Wu Xie in his spare time and learned that so many things had happened since he left Yucun.

Shen Mingchao turned out to be Li Cu's stepsister, and all three of them were affected.

God knows how much of a headache Xie Yuchen had at the time. The number of people involved is now so large that it's impossible to count them on two hands. It's not something that can be summed up with just the word "chaos".

Pulling his scattered thoughts, Xie Yuchen turned around and led the four of them to his private VIP room on the second floor.

The lobby on the first floor is furnished with many chairs, and people come and go in a constant stream.

The second floor has many individual cubicles; closing the door shuts out all the noise from downstairs. Leaving the door open, however, allows you to enjoy a panoramic view of the first floor.

"Take a look, what would you like to order?" Xie Yuchen handed over the menu.

Shen Mingchao flipped through the pages casually and couldn't help but laugh. No wonder the decor was so grand with these prices.

"What? Spicy crab costs 28? Why don't they just rob it!" Li Chu exclaimed in disbelief.

After saying this, he attracted subtle glances from all directions.

Su Wan whispered, "Ya Li, you forgot? The Crescent Moon Hotel has listening slaves and stick slaves. If you're going to complain, don't shout it out so loudly on their turf."

Yang Hao rolled up his sleeves, looking ready for anything, and said sternly, "It's alright, if they dare to come, I'll be the first to go."

"I advise you to tone it down a bit."

Xie Yuchen glanced at the three of them indifferently. It wasn't that he was incapable of covering for them, but the invitations for these three to enter were bought by Shen Mingchao. If they were careless and didn't know their place, it would be Shen Mingchao who would lose face in the end.

Just as the atmosphere became a little awkward, a soft, silvery laugh rang out, instantly dispelling the tension in the room.

Shen Mingchao looked at everyone, a smile creeping onto his face, and echoed Li Chu: "Yeah, it could just rob you outright, but it insists on giving you a plate of spicy crab. Let's order this then, I want to see how this spicy crab differs from the ones outside."

With just a few words, 288888 yuan was spent effortlessly.

Li Cu swallowed hard, not daring to speak again. He was afraid that if he said a few more words, the other person would order everything on the menu.

That's how it was when he was a kid; he'd just say, "I have money, so let them order whatever they want." After their reunion, he understood that the Ming Dynasty wasn't short of money, but he didn't want to give money to the Crescent Moon Hotel for nothing.

As soon as they started ordering, they chose the most expensive dish, and all the previous stares vanished instantly.

Then a smiling woman in a cheongsam came in and politely served tea and snacks, saying they were complimentary and to whet their appetites before the spicy crab arrived.

Yang Hao was dumbfounded: "I've finally found someone even more inhuman than Su Wan."

Su Wan also sighed, "If my master were here, he would kneel down on the spot and call me 'sugar daddy'."

"Hei Xiazi?" Xie Yuchen suddenly interjected, then, as if remembering something, the corners of his lips involuntarily curved upwards as he said, "He knelt before, he knelt before the very first meeting."

Shen Mingchao also recalled some outrageous memories, and spread his hands: "He deserved it, who told him to ask such a ridiculous question back then."

This piqued the curiosity of the aluminum triangle, and their gossip-loving hearts were ignited, prompting them to ask what the question was.

Just as Shen Mingchao was about to answer, she remembered that the eavesdropper was listening from behind the walls. Not wanting to expose her privacy, she typed on her phone.

[He asked me if I was Zhang Qilan's childhood sweetheart.]

Three heads swarmed over at once, and the next second they emitted a sharp, explosive sound, startling all the slaves.

They were speechless: not only did they not hear any gossip, but they almost went deaf. This awful job is unbearable.
