"Do you have any money on you right now?" Ye Tian asked.

Luo Tianhong scratched his head sheepishly: "Just... a thousand yuan in cash."

Ye Tian wrote another check for Lin Fu: "I don't have any cash here, so take 200,000 from this check and give it to him. Don't give it all at once, give it to him in installments and watch him spend it."

Luo Tianhong protested, "Why? I'm an adult!"

"You're the youngest," Ye Tian retorted, "You have no sense of money when it comes to spending."

Luo Tianhong lamented, "Boss, I'm eighteen!"

"So you're the youngest among us." Ye Tian nodded.

Luo Tianhong looked up at the ceiling, her face filled with despair.

Lin Fu nudged him with his elbow and whispered, "Fool, Brother Tian treats you like his own brother. If it were anyone else, he wouldn't even lift a finger even if you spent all his money."

Luo Tianhong was stunned for a moment, and the awkwardness in her heart immediately dissipated, replaced by a warm feeling.

Ye Tian added, "You two both need to practice your skills. I'll supply the medicinal herbs you need each month. You don't need to worry about that." He stood up to leave, then thought for a moment, turned back, and added, his tone as natural as if he were saying, "Remember to lock the door."

"I know young people are hot-tempered. If you really can't hold it in, remember to take proper precautions. It's best to find a consistent partner. You two should both go to the hospital for a checkup sometime, just to avoid catching any diseases."

Luo Tianhong's face flushed crimson, her neck turning red as well, and she was so embarrassed she couldn't speak: "Boss... Boss!"

After recovering, he asked Lin Fu in a low voice, "Brother Fu...did the boss say something like that to you before?"

Lin Fu's lips twitched: "It's not just me. He even told Brother Kun, and he was even more direct than that."

Luo Tianhong instantly felt at peace.

He then asked curiously, "Brother Fu, doesn't the boss have any women around him?"

"Yes," Lin Fu said, "but my wives are all formidable women with their own careers. They're busy and don't hang out with me often."

"Sisters-in-law...sisters-in-law?" Luo Tianhong stammered.

Lin Fu said matter-of-factly, "He's the boss, how could the women around him be ordinary?"

"Xiao Fu, take me home," Ye Tian said.

"So early?" Lin Fu checked the time; the gangsters' nightlife was just beginning.

"You just moved, and Tianhong has just settled in too. There will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate later." Ye Tian's tone became a bit serious. "Also, the martial arts world won't be too peaceful these next few days. I need to go back and think carefully about what to do next."

The relaxed expressions on Lin Fu and Luo Tianhong's faces immediately vanished, replaced by alertness.

The housewarming party ended hastily.

When Ye Tian returned home, he saw a somewhat unexpected figure under the streetlights at the entrance of the residential area.

"Inspector Yuan?" Ye Tian walked over. "What are you doing here?"

Yuan Haoyun still had several bandages stuck to his face from earlier that day, which looked somewhat comical in the dim light. He forced a smile and said, "There's something I'd like to ask Mr. Ye."

Ye Tian nodded, didn't ask any further questions, and led him into the house. He poured tea and got straight to the point: "Is everything settled with the police?"

Yuan Haoyun's lips twitched again, this time from the pain: "How can it be that fast? There are a lot of procedures."

Ye Tian's face immediately showed undisguised disgust: "I've pointed out the people to you clearly, what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for them to come and turn themselves in?"

Yuan Haoyun had no way to explain himself: "Mr. Ye, the police value evidence! Without solid evidence, if we arrest someone, the lawyer can just say a few words in court and we'll have to release them! That would be even more troublesome."

Ye Tian chuckled: "Our line of work is so straightforward. Once we've got our eye on something, we just take care of it, to avoid any unforeseen complications."

Yuan Haoyun glanced at him sideways: "Mr. Ye, even now, you still say you're not part of the triad?"

Ye Tian slowly picked up the teacup, blew on it, took a small sip, put the cup down, and then looked at him properly:

"If you're so capable, then arrest me right now."

Yuan Haoyun felt a lump in his throat, his face turning red. Ye Tian's file was as clean as a blank sheet of paper, even more innocent than his own. Arrest him? What would they use to arrest him? Even if they did, they'd have to hand him over respectfully, and might even have to apologize.

He glared at Ye Tian for a long time before finally letting out a sigh of relief, his shoulders slumping.

Ye Tian's fingers slowly circled the rough surface of the purple clay teapot, the body of which was warmed by his body heat. He didn't look at Yuan Haoyun, his gaze fixed on the wisp of white smoke rising from the spout, but his question was like a knife, delivered directly to him.

"How long will it take your police force to complete this case?"

Yuan Haoyun's eyes flickered, as if burned by the wisp of smoke. He instinctively straightened his back, his throat bobbing before he managed to squeeze out the words: "...No matter how complicated, it will take at least a month."

"A month?" Ye Tian shook his head, unable to suppress his impatience, and let out a soft snort from his nose. "I can't wait."

He finally raised his eyes and looked at Yuan Haoyun. There was no anger in his eyes; instead, his calmness was somewhat unsettling. "I'm giving you these things not to boost your sales figures. It's because I have a personal grudge against the Ni family."

"I wish I could watch that family rot from the very core, collapsing into a pile of mud that no one could lift up."

"If you can't do it, I'll use my own methods to make them pay back."

Yuan Haoyun's expression changed, and his pupils contracted sharply: "Mr. Ye! What do you want to do?"

Ye Tian didn't answer. He lowered his head and continued fiddling with the small cups on the tea tray. He lifted the kettle, and the water poured into the teapot with a loud splash, which sounded particularly loud in the overly quiet tea room; the echo of the water hitting the inner wall of the purple clay teapot could even be heard. Once it was full, he slowly spoke, his voice mingling with the lingering sound of the water:

"Yuen sir, you are a senior inspector of the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, and outsiders call you 'ruthless detective'."

"You panic at the slightest thing; where's your composure?"

Yuan Haoyun took a deep breath, his chest heaving slightly. He tried to soften his tone and be sincere: "Mr. Ye, you are a sponsor of the West Kowloon Headquarters, one of Hong Kong's wealthiest men. Your wealth and reputation are both clean and valuable. It's not worth getting tainted by the scum of the Ni family."

"I know you hate them to the core."

"But it's too much of a loss to get yourself involved for someone like that. Think about it again."

Ye Tian almost burst out laughing; his lips twitched, but he didn't actually laugh, only rolling his eyes. "Who told you I was going to use underhanded methods?"

Yuan Haoyun was stunned, his face clearly showing disbelief: "Without illegal means, without relying on the police... Mr. Ye, the Ni family is not a small or insignificant family; they are a deeply rooted and powerful family. How can they be shaken without weapons?"

Ye Tian then looked at him properly, his gaze carrying a hint of amusement, like he was looking at a student who hadn't quite grasped the situation. "There are plenty of ways to deal with the Ni family. Is it really necessary to resort to violence?"

"Can't you get anything done without the police uniform?"

He paused, then uttered four words: "A high reward. Ever heard of it?"

Yuan Haoyun was taken aback, then suddenly realized. This method was nothing new in the underworld; both the legitimate and criminal worlds had used it. With a hefty reward, there were plenty of desperate criminals willing to be the scapegoat to muddy the waters, and the results were often direct and brutal.

"But this... will have a terrible social impact and cause chaos!" Yuan Haoyun said anxiously.

Ye Tian seemed not to hear, focusing intently on filtering the first brew of tea, the amber liquid falling steadily into the fairness cup. "Does the existence of the Ni family guarantee social stability?"

"He made his fortune on drugs, survived by sucking human blood, and from the inside out, is there any clean inch of him? People like that should have died long ago. Even dying ten thousand times wouldn't be enough."

"To be honest, I'm starting to regret leaking this information to you guys." His tone turned cold. "In my opinion, those scum should have been dragged out and shot on the spot, which would have been too lenient."

Yuan Haoyun swallowed hard. He agreed wholeheartedly. But he couldn't say it aloud. Hong Kong no longer had the death penalty; that was the rule, the law. No matter how much he hated it, he had to follow the procedure.

"I have a fairly good impression of the police force." Ye Tian changed the subject, poured himself a cup of tea, but didn't drink it, just watched the steam rise, "Otherwise, I wouldn't donate money every year to support what you do."

"Tycoons and police forces, in the end, are all about maintaining a certain kind of 'order'."

"To use a game analogy, you are lawful good, the gangs are chaotic neutral, or chaotic lawful... it doesn't matter. If it weren't for these gangs maintaining their broken rules, Hong Kong would have been in complete chaos long ago with just your police force."

Yuan Haoyun listened, pondering silently. This argument had a flawed logic, but it couldn't be directly refuted. Those on the front lines knew the truth best. Admit it? Absolutely not. Even if it were true, the triad could never have a "positive effect" on the public eye.
