He Wanqing was slightly taken aback and turned to look at him.

The men who wanted to marry her could indeed stretch from the east side of the city to the west, but most of them were after her looks, wealth, or the He family's background.

This was the first time she had ever encountered such a direct, even desperate, marriage proposal, especially given the current bizarre circumstances.

But... thinking of her daughter in the living room, who had missed three years of her father's love and was now full of longing for him, her cold rationality began to waver.

Giving Tongtong a complete family seems to be the best option right now.

"Okay." She finally nodded, her voice still calm. "But you must understand that we are getting married for Tongtong's sake. We will only be husband and wife in name only."

Mo Ye was somewhat surprised by her quick agreement, but then he understood that it was all for the sake of the child.

He nodded: "I understand."

He Wanqing looked at him and continued to state her conditions clearly and logically, as if she were at a negotiating table: "I will not fulfill my substantive marital obligations unless..."

She paused, her tone carrying a hint of detachment she herself didn't realize, "Unless one day in the future, we truly love each other, and things naturally fall into place."

"Of course," Mo Ye replied calmly, "if it weren't for mutual affection, I wouldn't... have those kinds of thoughts."

He spoke frankly, his eyes clear and without a trace of impurity.

He Wanqing raised her eyes and scrutinized him carefully.

This was the first time she had ever heard a man of marriageable age so sincerely say that he "didn't want to sleep with her."

In the past, she had mostly encountered possessive and aggressive gazes.

Mo Ye's honesty quietly melted a corner of the icy wall in her heart.

"After we get married, you'll move in with me," she continued. "Now, let's make a few agreements."

"Okay, go ahead." Mo Ye adopted a posture of attentive listening.

He Wanqing analyzed the situation clearly and calmly:

"Article 1: During the marriage, neither of us will interfere with the other's private life, giving each other ample freedom and space. However, the bottom line is that neither of us can do anything to damage the other's reputation, neither of us can cheat on the other during the marriage, and neither of us can touch me."

Article 2: No outsider may be brought into my residence without my permission.

"Article 3: As I just said, we are only legal partners, with no emotional foundation, we do not share a room, and we do not fulfill marital obligations. Unless the relationship changes in the future, and it is voluntary on both sides."

Article 4: In the event of a future divorce, regarding property...

Before she could finish speaking, Mo Ye picked up the pen on the table and quickly wrote on a notepad: "If we divorce, Mo Ye will leave with nothing and will not claim any of the He family's property."

He Wanqing looked at the words he wrote without hesitation, her eyes flickering slightly.

She reached for the note, crossed out the sentence decisively, and rewrote it next to it: "If a divorce is due to a breakdown in the relationship, the marital property shall be divided equally between the two parties."

Mo Ye glanced at the revised terms and smiled indifferently: "Actually, I don't care about property."

"This is the protection you deserve, and it's fair." He Wanqing's tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable firmness. "Marriage is not exploitation."

Several agreements were initially finalized in a strange and calm atmosphere.

There was no romance, no passion; it was more like a strategic partnership formed to raise a child together.

Just then, Tongtong's tearful cries came from outside the door, accompanied by the cat's anxious meows: "Daddy! Daddy, where are you? Don't you want Tongtong anymore?"

The two of them were startled at the same time and immediately opened the door.

Tongtong was holding Tuantuan, pacing anxiously in the living room like a lost little penguin, her big eyes brimming with tears that looked like they were about to burst.

He Wanqing watched as her daughter only looked for her father and didn't think of looking for her mother at all. A bitter feeling welled up in her heart, as if her carefully nurtured little flower had been taken away pot and all.

Upon seeing Mo Ye, Tongtong immediately dropped Tuantuan (Tuantuan landed with a tumble, shook its fur), and rushed into his arms like a little cannonball, hugging his leg tightly, burying its face in his body, its voice trembling with grievance: "Daddy... Tongtong thought you were gone... thought you didn't want Tongtong anymore..."

Mo Ye watched as her pearly tears rolled down her cheeks, his heart clenching instantly. He quickly bent down and hugged her tightly, gently patting her back with his large hand. His voice was tender and full of heartache like never before: "Silly girl, how could Daddy not want Tongtong? Daddy will be with Tongtong every day from now on, and we'll never be apart again, okay?"

Tongtong sobbed, nodded vigorously, and hugged his neck tightly with her little hands, as if she had grasped the whole world that she had lost and regained.

He Wanqing stood aside, watching the father and daughter embrace, and seeing the genuine tenderness in Mo Ye's eyes, she knew he must like Tongtong.

Perhaps this hasty decision is not entirely a bad thing.

Mo Ye's luggage was surprisingly minimal—a few frequently worn clothes, his treasured computer, and Tuan Tuan, whom he had scooped into a makeshift cat carrier with one hand and was now meowing in dissatisfaction.

The whole process was so efficient that it didn't feel like moving house; it felt more like a short trip.

He Wanqing's car drove into a villa area called "Qingzhuyuan". In the night, the villas were shadowy and quiet.

The car stopped in front of a modern villa with understated elegance.

Stepping into the villa, the interior features a minimalist modern style, with gray and white as the main colors, clean lines, and clever lighting design, creating a spacious yet cool atmosphere.

Mo Ye glanced at it briefly and immediately understood. This was worlds apart from his cozy but cramped little rented room.

"Daddy! Daddy!" The moment her feet touched the ground, Tongtong eagerly grabbed his hand, chattering like an excited little sparrow, acting as his little guide. "This is the living room! It's so big! That's the kitchen! Mommy rarely cooks in there... This is my room!"

She pushed open a door, revealing a pink world full of childlike fun.

A soft princess bed, a fluffy cloud chandelier, a soft carpet on the floor, and various plush toys piled up in the corner, with cat and bear figures taking up half of the space.

The room was spotless, clearly having been meticulously maintained by someone.

Looking at the abundance of pink and cat-themed elements, Mo Ye stroked his chin knowingly—his daughter's tastes were quite distinct.

"Dad, I'll take you to see Grandpa Chao!" Tongtong remembered something and pulled him outside again.

Mo Ye's body stiffened almost imperceptibly.

What's coming must come, but it's rather impolite of me to visit empty-handed, especially since it's my first time there, especially in this capacity.

I can only remember it in my heart and make sure to make it up next time.
