Mo Ye hung up the phone and sent Shen Qing a message: 【Wanqing will be back at 7 PM tonight.】

Shen Qing replied instantly: 【Everything is ready.】

Mo Ye replied with "OK".

He waited a while longer before starting to prepare dinner.

He first steamed the fish and abalone, then marinated the beef and washed the vegetables.

The pot on the stove was bubbling and steaming, and the kitchen was filled with the aroma of food.

At 6:30, Mo Ye served the last dish.

Tongtong stood by the dining table, tiptoeing and craning her neck to look at the steaming dishes. Her little nose twitched, and drool was faintly visible at the corner of her mouth.

But she didn't steal any food because her mother said they would eat together tonight.

Suddenly, Tongtong looked up at Mo Ye with bright, sparkling eyes and said in her childish voice, "Daddy, I want to give Mommy a cake."

Mo Ye squatted down to her eye level, his voice tinged with worry and uncertainty: "Can Tongtong hold it properly?"

Tongtong nodded her little head vigorously, her face full of confidence: "Tongtong can do it!"

Mo Ye was still a little uneasy. After thinking for a moment, he took out a small food cart from the storage room.

That was Tongtong's toy when she was little. It was pink, had four little wheels, and made a "gurgling" sound when you pushed it.

He placed the cake on the small cart, clapped his hands, and said to Tongtong, "Tongtong, how about using this to push it?"

Tongtong clapped her chubby little hands, her face full of excitement and anticipation, her voice crisp and bright:

"Great! Great! Tongtong can do it!"

Mo Ye and Tong Tong lit the candles.

The pink candles were slender, like tiny magic wands.

Mo Ye glanced at the time; it was 6:50.

He took out a lighter and lit the candle.

The candlelight flickered in the living room, casting intermittent light and shadow on the two people's faces.

He squatted down, put his hand on Tongtong's shoulder, and said earnestly:

"How about Daddy blindfolds Mommy, and Tongtong pushes the cake to Mommy while singing 'Happy Birthday,' okay?"

Tongtong felt like she had received a tremendous mission. She puffed out her little chest, held her chin high, and said in her childish voice, "I promise I'll complete the mission!"

Mo Ye couldn't help but laugh when he saw his daughter's serious little face, which looked like she was about to join the Party. He stood up, stood at attention, and saluted Tongtong: "Soldier Tongtong."

Tongtong immediately brought her chubby legs together, raised her chubby hands to her temples, and called out in her childish voice, "Here!"

Mo Ye coughed and then laughed to himself. He was too immersed in the role.

Tongtong's little ears suddenly twitched.

Her eyes lit up, and her voice was urgent and clear: "Daddy, Mommy's car! Hurry, hurry, hurry!"

The two of them deliberately left the gate open so they could hear the car coming sooner.

Mo Ye quickly squatted down, put his hand on Tongtong's shoulder, and said earnestly, "Tongtong, just wait here. When Mommy comes in, you can push the stroller over there."

Tongtong nodded her little head solemnly: "Daddy, leave it to me!"

Mo Ye jogged over, turned off the living room lights, and left the front door slightly ajar.

Soon, the sound of He Wanqing's high heels could be heard at the door, "clack clack clack," approaching from afar.

The door was pushed open, and He Wanqing walked in. The motion-sensor light in the entryway turned on, but the living room was pitch black.

She stood in the entryway, saw Mo Ye standing in the darkness, paused for a moment, and her voice carried a hint of doubt and reproach:

"What are you doing here? You scared me. Why aren't the lights on?"

Mo Ye walked over and stood in front of her, his voice gentle and calm: "Waiting for you."

He Wanqing's lips curled up slightly as she was about to reach for the light switch when Mo Ye pulled her into his arms.

He put one arm around her waist and covered her eyes with the other.

"What are you doing?" He Wanqing's voice carried a hint of feigned reproach, but the corners of her mouth were already turned up.

Mo Ye didn't answer, but gently and slowly led her forward.

When Tongtong saw He Wanqing walk in, she took a deep breath, gripped the handle of the food cart with her two chubby little hands, and steadily pushed the cart out of the restaurant step by step.

The candlelight flickered on her small face, and her eyes shone like two stars.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." Tongtong's sweet voice rang out in the dark living room, like a warm light.

Mo Ye released his hand from He Wanqing's eyes and sang along with Tongtong.

In the dim candlelight, the roses and heart-shaped balloons filling the room were faintly visible, like a gentle dream.

Mo Ye picked up the golden birthday hat from the coffee table next to him and gently placed it on He Wanqing's head.

Tongtong pushed her stroller up to He Wanqing, looked up at her, and said in a clear, bright voice, "Happy birthday, Mommy!"

Looking at the room full of flowers, balloons, and candlelight, and the two smiling faces, one big and one small, filled with expectation in front of her, He Wanqing pursed her lips, touched, and squatted down.

He hugged Tongtong tightly, kissed her on the cheek, and said in a slightly hoarse, nasal voice, "Thank you, Tongtong."

She released Tongtong, stood up, and turned to look at Mo Ye: "Thank you too, husband."

She tiptoed and gently kissed Mo Ye's cheek.

Tongtong immediately hugged He Wanqing's long legs, rubbed her little face against them, and started to act cute.

He Wanqing squatted down and gave Tongtong a quick kiss on her little face. Tongtong then smiled contentedly.

Mo Ye placed the cake on the table.

He Wanqing walked to the cake, sat down, closed her eyes, and put her hands together in prayer position.

The candlelight flickered on her face, and her eyelashes trembled slightly.

She made a long wish, then opened her eyes, took a deep breath, and blew out the candle.

The living room was plunged into darkness briefly, then the lights came on.

Mo Ye took out his phone and sent Shen Qing a message: 【Starting in three minutes.】

Shen Qing: [OK]

Mo Ye put away his phone and took He Wanqing's hand: "Come with me to the rooftop."

He Wanqing was stunned for a moment, then he pulled her outside, glancing back at Tongtong.

Mo Ye bent down and picked up Tongtong, and the three of them walked up to the rooftop together.

The moment the door on the rooftop was pushed open, He Wanqing froze.

A huge floral semi-circular archway stands in the center of the rooftop, with a red carpet laid out beneath it. The carpet is lined with roses on both sides, white, pink, and red, densely packed together.

Mo Ye led He Wanqing to the archway, released her hand, and knelt on one knee.

He took the small black velvet box out of his pocket, opened it, and inside lay a pink diamond ring, reflecting a soft pink glow in the moonlight.

He Wan covered her mouth with one hand, her eyes instantly reddening.

Although she had guessed it, when the moment actually came, she still couldn't help but feel a little like she wanted to cry.

In the night sky, the drones began to move, forming a neat formation that spelled out a message against the darkness: "He Wanqing, will you marry me?"

Then the words changed to "One life, one love, one couple".

Mo Ye raised his head and looked into her eyes. Moonlight fell on his face, and his eyes shone with light, reflecting her.

Every day with you feels so peaceful, and I want to make that peace last a lifetime. This ring is meant to bind you for the rest of your life. Will you spend your life with me?
