As soon as those thunderous words were uttered, all the adults in the room couldn't hold back anymore, and laughter surged up like a tidal wave.

Zhang Guilan laughed so hard that the wrinkles around her eyes smoothed out, and she laughed for a long time before stopping.

When Tongtong heard everyone laughing at her, she became unhappy. She pouted and protested in her childish voice, "Tongtong is serious! You can't laugh!"

Zhang Guilan quickly held back her laughter and wiped away the tears that had welled up in her eyes.

There aren't many people who can make her laugh so heartily, but Tongtong is one of them.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a bulging, thickly stuffed red envelope, which she then handed to Tongtong.

Tongtong looked at the red envelope and shook her head vigorously, "Tongtong doesn't want it! Tongtong has money!"

As she spoke, she patted her teddy bear backpack, unzipped it, and revealed a corner of neatly folded banknotes inside.

Upon seeing this, Zhang Guilan pretended to be displeased. Her face hardened, and her voice, filled with both authority and affection, said, "Tongtong, take it. Your great-grandmother is unhappy."

Tongtong's little face was full of struggle, her brows furrowed, and she said in her childish voice, "But..."

Zhang Guilan reached out and touched her little head, her voice softening:

"Your parents usually tell you not to accept red envelopes casually, but your great-grandmother is no ordinary person. This is a little gift for Tongtong."

Tongtong lowered her head, her chubby little hands twisting together, her voice muffled, tinged with worry and heartache: "But Great-Grandma's family is too poor..."

Mo Ye and He Wanqing were both stunned for a moment.

Jiang Chang never imagined that his family would one day be associated with the word "poor".

Zhang Guilan paused for a moment, then laughed, her voice filled with a mixture of amusement and doting: "My great-grandmother's family is extremely wealthy."

Tongtong shook her head, her little face full of seriousness and stubbornness, and said in her childish voice, "Tongtong isn't a kindergarten child anymore!"

She lowered her head, fidgeted with her little fingers, and spoke in a soft, gentle voice.

"Grandma's house looks a bit run-down. Tongtong will earn money to buy a big house for her grandma's family when she grows up."

Looking at the three-year-old baby in her arms, Zhang Guilan's eyes were filled with seriousness and sincerity, and her eyes instantly welled up with tears.

She's lived most of her life and heard countless flattering words. At this age, there are very few things that can evoke such emotions in her.

She lowered her head, wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "This child... is very well-educated."

She sniffed, patted Tongtong's hand, and her voice returned to its usual kind tone: "Your great-grandmother's family is rich. If you don't believe me, ask your mother."

Tongtong turned her head and glanced at He Wanqing, her big eyes full of questions.

He Wanqing nodded, thinking to herself:

"If even my grandmother is poor, there probably aren't many rich people in the world. A house in this location isn't something you can just buy with money."

Tongtong scratched her little head, still not quite understanding, and asked in her childish voice:

"Why would my great-grandmother's family, who are so wealthy, live here? And all the houses outside look like dilapidated little houses."

Everyone was charmed by her cuteness and laughed.

Zhang Guilan smiled and said:

"Little one, you'll understand when you grow up. Take the red envelope first."

Tongtong then accepted the red envelope: "Thank you, Great-Grandma."

She carefully placed the red envelope into her teddy bear backpack, zipped it up, and patted it to make sure it wouldn't fall out.

Zhang Guilan took two more red envelopes and handed them to He Wanqing and Mo Ye respectively: "Here, you two get one too."

He Wanqing also took an exquisite gift box and handed it to Zhang Guilan with both hands: "Grandma, this is for you."

Zhang Guilan took it, but didn't open it; she just placed it beside her, saying, "Thank you for your thoughtfulness."

But what made her happiest was Tongtong.

Thinking of her great-grandchildren gave her a headache. They were all as mischievous as monkeys. Today they had smashed a vase in the house with a slingshot, and now they were off causing trouble somewhere else.

She looked down at the soft, cuddly little dumpling on her lap and felt incredibly soft-hearted. Of course, she was unaware of Tongtong's heroic feat of taking down a child with a single punch.

Mo Ye and He Wanqing took Tongtong out for a stroll.

Zhang Guilan was a little reluctant to part with Tongtong. Holding Tongtong's little hand, her voice carried a hint of admonition and expectation: "Come back soon, I'll make roast duck for you tonight."

He Wanqing nodded, her voice gentle: "We'll be back soon."

The three of them went to the Forbidden City. Walking on the Jinshui Bridge, Tongtong looked at the red walls and yellow tiles, her little mouth agape in an "O" shape, her little head turning back and forth, everything was new and exciting to her.

After strolling around for a while, Tongtong tugged at Moye's sleeve and said in her childish voice, "Daddy, Tongtong is a little thirsty~"

Mo Ye glanced around and saw a stall not far away with a sign that read "Old Brand Soybean Juice".

He recalled the countless warning posts online, such as "The only reason Douzhi (fermented mung bean juice) hasn't gone out of business is because of the curiosity of outsiders," and "After taking a sip, I felt like my skull had been ripped open."

He hesitated for a moment, then curiosity got the better of him, and he decided he wanted to try it too.

Looking at his expression, He Wanqing guessed what he was thinking, and asked with a hint of uncertainty in her voice, "Are you going to drink soy milk?"

Mo Ye nodded: "Is it good?"

He Wanqing thought for a moment, then nodded, her voice calm: "It tastes pretty good."

Mo Ye paused for a moment, his voice tinged with surprise and curiosity: "Didn't you say this kind of thing doesn't taste good?"

He Wanqing nodded again:

"It depends on the person. I lived at my maternal grandmother's house for a while when I was little, so I can handle the drinking."

Mo Ye nodded, his curiosity growing even stronger: "Then let's give it a try."

Three bowls of soy milk were placed in front of me. The grayish-green liquid had a layer of fine foam on the surface and emitted an indescribable smell.

Tongtong leaned closer and sniffed, her little nose wrinkling, her voice filled with disbelief and disgust: "Stinky?"

She didn't believe it, so she leaned closer to smell it, her little face scrunching up even more, as if it really did smell bad.

He Wanqing looked at her bewildered expression and couldn't help but laugh: "That's the taste."

Tongtong tilted her head and thought for a moment, then said in her childish voice, "Like stinky tofu, it smells bad but tastes good?"

He Wanqing opened her mouth, her voice tinged with uncertainty: "This... I can't guarantee it."

Tongtong thought that was how it should be, so she picked up a small spoon, scooped up a spoonful, and carefully put it into her mouth. Then her little face instantly twisted in pain.

She quickly covered her mouth, jumped off the stool, and ran to the nearby trash can, spitting out the soy milk. Then she ran back, her little face full of accusation.

"Oh no! It smells awful, and it tastes awful too!"

Her series of actions amused everyone around her, especially a few locals who enjoyed watching outsiders react to drinking douzhi (fermented mung bean juice).

He Wanqing picked up her bowl, took a sip, her expression remained unchanged, and her voice was calm:

"It's not bad, it tastes just like this."

Tongtong didn't believe it and pointed at He Wanqing's bowl: "Mom, let me drink from your bowl."
