A canyon.

More than thirty stumbling figures were running wildly along the bottom of the canyon.

They were ragged, covered in dust, and their heavy breathing echoed through the canyon.

Some people, while running, suddenly collapsed onto the rough rocky ground, their knees scraping and bleeding. But a terrifying aura seemed to emanate from behind them, forcing them to scramble and crawl forward.

At the very end of the line.

A thin father was holding his little boy tightly in his arms, running and whispering to himself.

"Trian... hang in there... don't fall asleep, please don't fall asleep..."

The little boy's name is Trian, and he looks to be only about seven years old.

At this moment, a large gash was torn in his abdomen, and dark red blood had already soaked through his father's clothes, dripping down his trouser legs onto the sand along the way.

Hearing his father's call, little Trian managed to move his bloodless lips and nod weakly.

"Once we reach the evacuation point... we can go to Ironridge City... There are doctors and food there, everything will be alright..."

As he spoke, the father tore a relatively clean piece of rag from the hem of his clothes and gently covered little Trian's face to stop the loss of body heat.

After doing all this, the thin father bit his tongue hard, squeezing out all his strength, and continued running forward.

……

On the rocks high up in the canyon.

A sergeant wearing exoskeleton armor took in the scene below.

A resolute glint flashed in the sergeant's eyes before he looked at the four soldiers guarding the flank of the civilians.

"Attention! Open fire immediately upon detection of any Eldar machine sightings, no warnings required!" The sergeant's voice, delivered coldly and forcefully through the armor's built-in communicator, reached every soldier's ears.

"Yes, sir!"

The four soldiers responded in unison. They were also wearing exoskeleton armor, with a star shield emblem printed on their shoulder armor—the symbol of the Torres Star Shield Army.

The exoskeletons they wear are standard-issue and do not cover the entire body; they are only attached to the limbs, making ordinary soldiers stronger, faster, and able to carry more firearms!

Just then.

"Sizzle!"

A very faint buzzing sound suddenly rang out!

The sergeant's pupils instantly contracted to the size of a pinhead.

"Enemy attack!"

His roar had barely left his throat when the outermost Star Shield soldier below suddenly froze.

A beam of eerie green plasma light, like the spear of death, shot out without warning from the shadows of the rocks ahead.

"laugh!"

The soldier's head was instantly pierced, and the flesh at the edge of the wound was melted and carbonized by the extreme heat.

The lifeless, heavy body staggered forward two steps due to the inertia of the armor before crashing to the ground, kicking up wisps of dust.

"Ten o'clock direction!!"

Another soldier, his eyes wide with fury, issued a warning and simultaneously turned sharply to look in the direction from which the green light was coming.

A figure slowly emerged from behind the rocks.

That was a warrior of the Mechanical Eldar race.

It has no flesh and blood; its entire body is composed of a metallic skeleton that gleams with a white sheen. It is slender and even has an eerie artistic feel to it.

Its face was covered by a smooth metal mask, except for its eyes, which gleamed with a cold, merciless, eerie blue light.

At this moment, the mechanical Eldar warrior was holding a plasma gun, the deadly green light at the muzzle refocusing and locking onto the soldier who had just issued the warning.

"Go to hell!"

The soldier reacted extremely quickly, the hydraulic rods on his armored thighs emitting a piercing screech, and he used the power of his exoskeleton to perform a tactical roll to the right.

At the same time, he raised his large-caliber explosive gun and frantically pulled the trigger at the mechanical Eldar warrior.

"Bang bang bang bang!"

The massive explosive tore through the air.

However, the mechanical Eldar warrior reacted quickly and managed to dodge all the bombs.

He raised the plasma gun again, ready to fire.

"boom!"

Just then, a blinding spark burst forth on the chest of the mechanical Eldar warrior!

The violent impact sent its slender body flying, crashing heavily into the rock wall behind it, creating a large crater.

High up, on the shoulder of the sergeant's exoskeleton, wisps of smoke were rising from the muzzle of a small howitzer.

"You three, continue to cover the civilians' evacuation! I'll handle this mechanical Eldar warrior!"

As the sergeant roared, he maneuvered his armor and leaped down from the ten-meter-high rocky promontory.

"Bang!"

The heavy armor landed, smashing through the rocks.

Without pausing, the sergeant's heavy bomb gun roared again, bullets blasting at the mechanical Eldar warrior who had just tried to stand up.

However, a desperate scene unfolded.

The huge dent in the mechanical Eldar warrior's chest, caused by the grenade explosion, and the metal wound torn open by the bomb, were now rippling with a green, water-like light.

The gleaming white metal seemed to have transformed into a living liquid, intertwining, recombinating, and healing at a speed visible to the naked eye!

The sergeant looked solemn, but there was no surprise on his face.

He knew that ordinary weapons were simply incapable of completely killing these monsters.

Just as the sergeant was preparing to fire a second grenade to slow down the enemy's recovery.

"Sizzle!!!"

Another buzzing sound came from behind the cover on the right.

A second mechanical Eldar warrior appeared silently there!

The sergeant was extremely experienced; he instantly activated the armor thrusters to full power, gliding almost skimming the ground. The green light grazed his shoulder armor, leaving a charred, melted mark.

Two mechanical Eldar warriors, one on the left and one on the right, formed a crossfire suppression against the sergeant.

The sergeant squinted, frantically dodging the plasma beams by using the rocks in the canyon as cover, while calmly pulling the trigger to retaliate, drawing the two monsters' aggro to himself and preventing them from crossing the defensive line to pursue the civilians.

As soldiers of the Star Shield Army, their value far exceeds that of civilians.

According to the Star Shield Army's regulations, they are free to abandon civilians when facing a powerful enemy.

However, his five-man team couldn't do it.

Just as the sergeant was preparing to fight to the death to hold off the two mechanical Eldar warriors.

"Bang bang bang! Sizzle—"

Suddenly, the roar of a bomb gun came from the direction where the civilians were retreating in front of the canyon, followed by the sound of a plasma gun firing!

The sergeant's face turned deathly pale instantly.

"Damn it! There are more Eldar warriors ahead!!"

"We must go and provide support!!!"

The sergeant's eyes turned bloodshot, and the weapon pods on the back of his exoskeleton armor popped open instantly, firing two small grenade launchers at the two mechanical Eldar warriors who were entangled with him from the left and right.

Using the light and smoke from the explosion as cover, the sergeant darted through the bunker, running towards the source of the gunfire.
