"They are in the VIP sanctuary in the side hall!"

Upon hearing this, both Caron and Valerian changed color.

"Walk!"

Valerian let out a fierce shout, his psionic energy erupted, and he transformed into a whirlwind, smashing open the church doors and rushing towards the side chapel.

Caron and the elder sister followed closely behind.

Less than ten seconds.

The three of them rushed to the entrance of the VIP sanctuary in the side hall.

The two heavy, carved wooden doors were open.

Sunlight streamed in through the huge stained-glass windows, illuminating the entire church with exceptional brightness.

At opposite ends of a table in the center of the sanctuary, two elderly men in red robes sat intently playing a game of chess.

Valerian's gaze instantly locked onto the person sitting on his right.

The man had long, silvery-white hair that was meticulously combed, and although he was old, he was still tall and upright. His deeply lined face was solemn and dignified, and his eyes were calm and deep, making it impossible to see what he was thinking.

It was none other than Lucius, the bishop of Starshine City!

Hearing footsteps at the door, Lucius showed no sign of panic, but slowly said:

"Dominic, what a pity."

"I hope we'll have the chance to play this game again in the future..."

After saying that, he slowly stood up and turned to look at Valerian, Karon, and the others.

His gaze lingered on the data panel in Valerian's hand for a second before he spoke calmly:

"Judging from your inflammatory stance... you must have already seen what's inside the data crystal."

Seeing Lucius admit it so calmly, Valerian felt a surge of heat rush to his head.

He clenched his fists, suppressing the urge to tear the other man to pieces, and demanded angrily, "Why?!"

Lucius looked directly at Valerian, his expression remaining unchanged: "Everything I've done... is for Torres, for the sake of more people on this planet."

Valerian said, enunciating each word clearly, "Do you know that because of the phase jammer you placed in the teleportation array, millions of lives in Starshine City were slaughtered by the Eldar! And now you're telling me it's for them?!"

Faced with Valerian's tearful questioning.

Lucius lowered his eyes, his voice low and sorrowful:

I'm sorry.

"But that was... a necessary sacrifice!"

Valerian has completely gone berserk!
