The Courtyard House: He Yuzhu Returns with Boundless Hatred for Revenge
Chapter 12 The Spirit Spring's Effects Begin to Appear
He Yuzhu woke up very early the next morning.
He pushed open the door, and the winter sun streamed into the courtyard, but the air was bitterly cold. He stretched his limbs in the doorway, feeling a surge of power coursing through his body. This body was far stronger than it had been at the same stage in his previous life, likely due to the enhancement it had received from the spatial rift.
"Brother, you're up?"
The door to the side room opened, and He Yushui, wearing only a thin shirt, peeked out. This girl wasn't afraid of the cold.
He Yuzhu turned his head and was stunned.
He Yushui stood at the doorway, the morning light shining on her face. Her hair, which had been dry and yellow due to long-term malnutrition, had turned jet black and shiny, gleaming in the sunlight. Even her complexion had become much rosier, making her look completely different from yesterday.
"Your hair..." He Yuzhu walked over and looked at his sister carefully.
"What's wrong?" He Yushui subconsciously touched her hair. "Is something the problem?"
"It's nothing," He Yuzhu said, suppressing his shock. "I'm fine."
He Yushui was puzzled, but seeing that her brother didn't say anything more, she didn't ask any further questions. She turned around and went back into the house to get dressed.
He Yuzhu stood there, his heart filled with turmoil.
In just one night, after only eating a meal cooked with spiritual spring water, He Yushui's transformation was so obvious. The effects of this spiritual spring water were truly remarkable! It had an extremely strong nourishing and improving effect on normal people.
He initially thought the water would only make him feel more energetic and physically comfortable. But now it seems its effects go far beyond that. It can fundamentally improve a person's constitution and even help the body recover quickly from injuries and illnesses.
This made He Yuzhu's medicinal cuisine plan even more determined and urgent. Such miraculous effects would be a waste not to take advantage of them.
With this spiritual spring water, the medicinal cuisine he makes will definitely be far more effective than ordinary medicinal cuisine. Those leaders will experience significant improvements in their health after consuming it. At that point, why would he worry about them not relying on him?
He Yuzhu took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.
We can't rush it; we have to take it one step at a time. First, find a suitable person to test the results and see what level it can achieve. Then, we can slowly pave the way forward.
"Brother, I'm going to wash my face." He Yushui, dressed neatly, came out carrying a washbasin.
"Go ahead," He Yuzhu nodded.
He Yushui ran to the tap to wash her face. The cold water in the dead of winter splashed on her face, causing steam to rise directly.
"Huh, that's strange, why isn't the water as cold today?" He Yushui muttered to herself.
He Yuzhu didn't mind and went straight back to his house to start preparing breakfast.
There were still quite a few leftovers from yesterday. There was about half a bowl of braised pork, and a little bit of stir-fried cabbage with vinegar. He Yuzhu gathered all the leftovers, chopped them up, added some water and seasonings, and stir-fried them in a pan—that made a bowl of fried sauce. The aroma filled the air, first reaching the Jia family in the nearest west wing.
Madam Jia was sitting at the table waiting for dinner. The old fat woman's face was still swollen, and the wound at the corner of her mouth was completely festering. She hadn't slept well all night after being slapped so many times by He Yuzhu. Her face was so sensitive that even the slightest touch was excruciating. What angered her even more was that she had thought Yi Zhonghai would stand up for her, but that old man had gone to the backyard and disappeared without a trace. Now, she even hated the old man who had no descendants.
Qin Huairu brought the prepared cornbread and rice porridge to the table. The Jia family was relatively well-off at the moment; the lunchboxes He Yuzhu had brought back over the past two years had allowed them to save a considerable amount of money, making it easy for them to eat fine grains every day. However, they still had to rely on He Yuzhu for oil and fat, as their own family hadn't spent any money on meat in the past two years.
The four of them were eating when the aroma wafted in.
"What smells so good?"
Jia Zhangshi twitched her nose and immediately recognized the smell: "It smells like meat! That little bastard Sha Zhu must be cooking meat again!"
Enraged, she slapped her thigh and began to yell, "Eating meat first thing in the morning! What a sin! Our family has been beaten like this, and that little beast still has the nerve to eat meat at home! God has no eyes!"
"Grandma, I want meat! I want meat from Sha Zhu's family!" Five-year-old Bang Geng was so enticed by the aroma that he couldn't sit still any longer. He pushed his bowl away, lay down on the ground, kicked his legs wildly, and started throwing a tantrum. "I don't want cornbread! I want meat! I want meat!!"
Qin Huairu hurriedly tried to help her son, but Jia Zhangshi pushed her away. "It's all because of you, you useless piece of trash! You can't even get a boxed lunch! Our Jia family is incredibly unlucky to have married a country bumpkin like you!"
After scolding Qin Huairu by pointing her finger at him, Madam Jia tenderly hugged the fallen stick on the ground, saying, "Oh, my dear grandson, don't cry, don't cry. That fool Zhu is no good; eating his flesh will rot your intestines!"
When has Prince Jia ever been treated like this? Usually, whenever he wanted to eat, Sha Zhu would happily bring him the meat.
He perfectly imitated Jia Zhangshi's shameless behavior, lying on the ground and wriggling around, getting his clothes all dirty.
"I don't care! I want meat! The meat from Sha Zhu's house smells so good! Grandma, go get me some! Go and bring the meat over!"
Watching her beloved grandson throw a tantrum, Jia Zhangshi felt heartbroken, but her face still stung with pain. Remembering He Yuzhu's fierce gaze last night, how could she dare go to ask for meat? She could only vent her anger by berating Qin Huairu: "It's all your fault, you jinx! You can't even get the child a bite to eat! What good are you!"
Qin Huairu appeared aggrieved, but inwardly she was seething with hatred, yet dared not retaliate.
"Enough!" Jia Dongxu, who had been sitting at the table with a gloomy face, slammed his hand on the table, making the bowls and chopsticks jump.
He pointed at the corn stalks on the ground and yelled, "If you keep making trouble, believe me, I'll beat you! You should be grateful you have anything to eat! If you keep causing trouble, you won't even get any cornbread today!"
Banggeng was startled by his father's sudden anger, and his crying stopped abruptly. He sobbed and dared not make a fuss anymore.
Madam Jia knew that Jia Dongxu was truly enraged, so she reluctantly shut her mouth, but glared at Qin Huairu with resentment, and then stared fiercely in the direction of He Yuzhu's house.
When Jia Dongxu woke up in the morning, his cheeks were swollen, and the two broken teeth were also very painful. He was silently drinking his porridge little by little. He was also burning with anger, hating He Yuzhu for his viciousness and resenting his master Yi Zhonghai for his incompetence.
He Yuzhu smiled as he listened to the crying and cursing coming from the west wing.
Too lazy to roll out the dough, I just took the dough that had rested yesterday and pinched off some small pieces. Before long, two large bowls of fried dough pieces with soybean paste were served, emitting a wonderful aroma.
"Rain, dinner's ready," He Yuzhu called out.
After washing her face, He Yushui went back to the side room to start tidying up. She couldn't stand the aroma when it wafted over, and when she heard the call, she immediately ran over. Her eyes lit up when she saw the fried noodles on the table.
"Eat quickly, so you can go to school." He Yuzhu pushed a bowl of noodles in front of her.
He Yushui took the bowl and started eating. The fried sauce was fragrant and rich, and it even had diced meat in it—it was incredibly delicious. She ate with slurping noises, her little face full of satisfaction.
The two finished eating quickly. He Yushui took the initiative to clean up the dishes, washed them clean, and then picked up her schoolbag to go to school.
"Brother, I'm leaving."
"Go on, pay attention in class," He Yuzhu instructed. "Go straight home after school, don't wander around outside."
"Okay!" He Yushui replied, skipping and hopping out the door.
He Yuzhu stood at the door, watching his sister's figure disappear into the courtyard before turning back into the house.
He glanced at the clock on the cabinet. It was still early. The canteen staff at the steel rolling mill started work a little later than the regular workers; it was too early for him to go.
He Yuzhu decided to go out and take care of some things first.
He changed into clean clothes, locked the door, and left the courtyard.
