Primordial Era: When a Good Guy Awakens a Morally Unethical System
Chapters 140-141, Second Sermon
As usual, the Three Pure Ones were the first to arrive, followed by Hongyun and Zhenyuanzi. After Hongyun went to see Luohou, the others arrived one after another.
Hongjun was very satisfied with this. After all, apart from the first time he brought them here through connections, the other two times they had come first on their own initiative. Sure enough, he and Luohou had the right eye for disciples; they were all among the best in the prehistoric world, and so were the people around them—all exceptionally outstanding.
"Listen carefully to this sermon, especially Tongtian and Hongyun. Don't get distracted," Hongjun reminded his two favorite and most unreliable disciples.
This time, Hongjun will talk about the path to sainthood.
There are three paths to sainthood:
The first type is Pangu's path of proving his Dao through force. He sacrificed his life to achieve success, which only became his own Dao. To other beings in the prehistoric world, his Dao was a failure.
The second method is to attain enlightenment through merit, which requires possessing extremely great merit to succeed.
The third type is the path he took to achieve sainthood by severing the three corpses. The three corpses refer to the good thoughts, evil thoughts, and obsessions within a cultivator's body, namely the good corpse, the evil corpse, and the self corpse.
Luo Hou's path of seeking enlightenment through killing was completely misguided, and he almost couldn't be saved. To seek enlightenment through slaughter would mean wiping out the entire primordial world or even the Heavenly Dao itself. Before he could even achieve enlightenment, the immense karmic retribution would fall upon him.
Although the Three Pure Ones are divinely ordained saints and possess immense merit passed down from the Great God Pangu, making it easier for them to follow the path of merit-based enlightenment, Hongjun himself prefers Tongtian to follow his path and sever the Three Corpses to become a saint.
After all, it's obvious that those who achieve sainthood by severing their three corpses are far more powerful than those who follow the path of merit. Hongjun naturally hopes that his only disciple will become as powerful as possible.
As for Hongyun, Hongjun's initial idea was for Hongyun to attain the Great Dao of Primordial Chaos and become a Great Dao Saint, but he soon abandoned this idea. Although the Great Dao of Primordial Chaos is more powerful than the Three Corpses, the process is also more difficult, especially since Hongyun is Luo Hou's disciple and is constantly watched by the Heavenly Dao, who fears that he may also develop a rebellious nature like Luo Hou.
The idea of attaining the Great Luo realm might have barely formed when it was immediately attacked and struck down by the Heavenly Dao.
Looking back now, perhaps we could let Zhen Yuanzi take this path. Zhen Yuanzi is a steady and good boy, and with him by Hongyun's side, Luo Hou could feel much more at ease.
Therefore, he hoped that Tongtian and Hongyun would listen carefully to this final sermon, and ideally, sever one of their three corpses by the end of the sermon, and then continue their efforts to sever the other two. If they ultimately could not sever all three corpses to achieve sainthood, their level of power at the time of attaining sainthood would be determined by the number of corpses they had severed.
Hongjun pondered deeply about his two favorite disciples, while the two disciples themselves had their own thoughts. Hongyun was preoccupied with how to deal with Jieyin and Zhunti, while Tongtian was lost in thought. The other three, however, felt that since their master had strictly instructed them to listen attentively to the teachings, they had to take it very seriously and absolutely could not be careless.
Hongjun was satisfied with their performance, and then opened the gates of Zixiao Palace to let the listeners who had arrived at the Thirty-Third Heaven enter.
The Di Jun brothers and the Fu Xi siblings were waiting outside. They rushed in as soon as the gates of Zixiao Palace opened, and were all surprised to see the group in front of them. They knew that the Ancestor valued these people, but they didn't expect him to call them in private. They wondered what he would say.
