Chapter 208 Encountering Heterochromia.
The resort was even more exquisite than Lu Yao had imagined.
The white-walled and gray-tiled buildings are built against the mountain and nestled among the sea of flowers, resembling a vibrant and distinct watercolor painting.
As soon as the car stopped in front of the main building of the resort, uniformed staff members came forward to open the door.
"Mr. Zhou, distinguished guests, welcome." The staff member respectfully led the way. "The rooms are ready. Would you like to rest first or have lunch?"
Zhou Jinlu looked at Lu Yao and gently asked for her opinion.
Lu Yao thought for a moment: "Let's rest for a bit first."
Fu Ciyan and Xie Linyu naturally had no objections.
The staff led the three to their respective rooms. Lu Yao shared a suite with Fu Ciyan and Xie Linyu, while Zhou Jinlu stayed in a detached house a little further away.
The room was spacious, with a continuous sea of flowers outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the lake in the distance shimmering in the sunlight.
Lu Yao stood by the window, feeling exceptionally relaxed.
Fu Ciyan walked up from behind, gently wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his chin on her shoulder, and followed her gaze to the window.
"Do you like it here?" he asked in a low voice.
Lu Yao nodded: "Very beautiful, even more beautiful than I imagined."
Fu Ciyan didn't speak, but simply pulled her closer, his warm breath spraying onto her neck.
Lu Yao felt a little ticklish from his teasing, shrank her neck, and smiled as she turned her head to look at him: "What's wrong?"
Fu Ciyan lowered his head and gently pecked her lips.
"It's nothing," he said, "I just wanted to kiss you."
Lu Yao blushed slightly, but instead of pulling away, she stood on tiptoe and returned his kiss.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Xie Linyu's voice came from behind the door: "Yaoyao? I'm coming in!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Xie Linyu pushed the door open and came in. After glancing at the two embracing each other, Xie Linyu knew that Fu Ciyan would take every opportunity to be alone with Lu Yao. This man seemed magnanimous, but in reality, he was very petty.
At noon, Zhou Jinlu came over and had lunch with them. Afterwards, he suggested that they go to the nearby market for a stroll.
The market was bustling, with all sorts of stalls lining the winding cobblestone streets. Some sold handicrafts, some sold local specialties, and many food stalls emitted tempting aromas.
Tourists thronged the area, and occasionally the sounds of vendors and customers haggling could be heard, creating a surprisingly lively atmosphere that was uncommon in the Federal Capital Star.
Fu Ciyan put his arm around Lu Yao's waist, carefully protecting her from being jostled by the crowds. Xie Linyu walked on the other side, his eyes occasionally scanning the surroundings, searching for anything special.
Zhou Jinlu lagged half a step behind, maintaining a distance from the three of them, neither appearing aloof nor overly intimate.
"The handicrafts here are quite unique," Zhou Jinlu said, pointing to a stall filled with jewelry made of seashells and colorful pebbles. "Take a look and see if there's anything you like."
Lu Yao followed his gaze and was about to speak when she suddenly caught a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
She paused slightly in her steps.
A man was standing in front of a stall not far away.
He was wearing a faded gray shirt with the cuffs casually rolled up, revealing a section of his well-defined forearm. He was looking down at the items on the stall.
He was the man who was publicly humiliated by his matchmaker at the hospital that day.
Those distinctive heterochromatic eyes, one gold and one red, were so striking that they were hard to forget once you saw them.
Xie Linyu noticed her unusual behavior, followed her gaze, and frowned slightly.
"What's wrong?" he asked in a low voice.
Lu Yao withdrew her gaze and gently shook her head: "It's nothing."
Although I was curious about how the other person ended up here, we had only met once, so there was really nothing to say.
It was just that the other person's appearance was somewhat unique, which made her remember him so vividly.
Xie Linyu followed her gaze and glanced at her again, then remembered.
"Is it him?" he asked softly.
Lu Yao was slightly taken aback: "You remember him too?"
Xie Linyu nodded: "We met at the hospital that day."
Fu Ciyan stopped and looked at the two of them: "Do you know each other?"
"I don't know her, I just saw her at the hospital before." Lu Yao briefly explained the situation at the time, and Fu Ciyan understood without much surprise.
Such things are quite normal in the federal government.
Lu Yao was only surprised because she hadn't seen much of this: "Shall we go over?"
Lu Yao quickly said, "No, we didn't know each other before, there's no need for that. I was just a little surprised to see you suddenly."
Fu Ciyan nodded and glanced at the other person; the other person's heterochromatic eyes were indeed quite memorable.
They didn't linger there for long and continued strolling around until they passed a stall selling handmade woven products, at which point Lu Yao finally stopped.
The stalls displayed various small items woven from herbs unique to Ocean Flower Island, including garlands, small baskets, bracelets, and exquisite little animals that were lifelike and exuded a faint fragrance of herbs.
Lu Yao picked up a small grass cat, no bigger than her palm, and gently touched its erect ears with her fingertips, a smile spreading across her eyes.
"Do you like this?" Xie Linyu leaned closer, his chin almost touching her shoulder.
"Hmm, it's very cute." Lu Yao held the kitten up to him. "Look, doesn't it look like a little sesame seed?"
Xie Linyu stared at the grass cat for two seconds and commented seriously, "It doesn't look like it. Little Sesame isn't this well-behaved."
Lu Yao was amused by his words and gently patted him.
The stall owner was an elderly man with gray hair. Seeing that Lu Yao liked it, he smiled kindly and said, "Little girl, if you like it, take it. This is a gift for you."
Lu Yao quickly waved her hand: "No need, no need, I'll buy it."
The old man insisted on giving it to her, saying, "It's not worth much. I just made it up for fun. If you like it, that's fate."
Lu Yao couldn't refuse, so she accepted the gifts. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Uncle, I'd also like to choose some for my friends, is that alright?"
"Of course!" The old man grinned from ear to ear, enthusiastically pointing to a row of small animals on the stall. "Little girl, pick whichever you like!"
Lu Yao smiled and her gaze slowly swept over the lifelike little grass weavings.
She picked up an adorable little bear and turned to look at Fu Ciyan.
Fu Ciyan met her gaze, paused slightly, and then a smile appeared in his eyes.
"For me?" he asked in a low voice.
Lu Yao nodded and handed the little grass bear to him: "Hmm, this looks like you."
Fu Ciyan looked down at the round, fluffy little bear in his palm and fell silent, wondering if this was how Lu Yao saw him.
Xie Linyu couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Like him?" He laughed so hard his shoulders shook. "Yaoyao, are you serious? This bear is round and silly, how does it resemble Fu Ciyan at all? Is he really that kind and cute?"
Fu Ciyan glanced at him indifferently, said nothing, and carefully put the little grass bear into his palm, a slight smile curving his lips.
Lu Yao said earnestly, "Yes, it looks like one. The little bear looks very calm, reliable, and cute."
She spoke the last two words very softly, but Fu Ciyan heard them.
He looked down at the little bear in his palm, his smile deepening.
Lu Yao handed Xie Linyu a small mongrel clinging to a bone: "Here, this is for you."
Xie Linyu reached out and took it, looking down at the little dog in his palm holding the bone, its tail held high. His expression instantly became subtle.
"Yaoyao," he looked up, his deep blue eyes filled with accusation, "why is he a little bear and I'm a little dog?"
