Chapter 12 Matching Phase

West Canyon Police Department.

The legendary "Newbie Reporting Day".

locker room.

Yorke, wearing a bulletproof vest that clung tightly to his chest, stood in front of his equipment locker and took out his police uniform, which he hadn't worn for several days, to put on.

The Los Angeles Police Department uniform is predominantly dark blue with a classic lapel design and a gold Los Angeles Police Department badge embroidered on the collar.

It looked alright, and Yorke was quite satisfied, as the police uniform accentuated his physique.

Talibor's voice came from the side: "York, are you going or not?"

As Yorke put on his clothes, he glanced at Talibor.

Two colleagues were standing next to Talibo, both of them looking eager to try.

Even Taliban is basically the same.

Because currently, there are only a few veteran police officers, including him, who don't have a partner yet.

In Los Angeles, where trouble is rampant, patrolling in pairs is actually less risky than patrolling alone, because having a partner means having an extra helper, which can be helpful in dealing with shootings or chasing suspects.

The presence of partners makes police officers more composed when handling police situations, and also improves their survival rate.

What's more, having a partner who's a complete novice makes things even more comfortable.

Not only did I gain an extra helper, but I also gained someone to take care of me.

"No." Yorks shook his head and refused. He didn't really need to intimidate anyone, nor did he bother to do so to a newcomer.

"OK!" Talibor responded excitedly, leading his two colleagues straight to the newbie area.

York watched them go, noticing the excited expressions on Talibor's and his two colleagues' faces. He took his tactical belt out of the equipment cabinet and sighed inwardly.

"Poor newbies, I'm praying for you."

Before he could even tie it up, a sound came from the other end.

Good morning, recruits.

Good morning, sir.

But the next second, Talibor's feigned serious voice rang out.

"Did I give you a chance to speak? Your last wish is that I'm not your drill instructor, recruit! Otherwise, you'll suffer a fate worse than death!"

Upon hearing this, Yorke chuckled wryly and fastened the tactical belt that was already around his waist.

-

Police briefing room.

A commotion arose, and Yorke, who had just returned from the bathroom, heard Talibo's voice again.

"Newbies, your seats are in the front! Don't sit here! Wait until we're gone or you get promoted and make it big, then you can think about whether you want to sit in the back."

"Is this guy addicted to showing off?" York chuckled, not feeling much of a stir.

It's common for older employees to intimidate newcomers or assert their authority in any workplace.

As Yorke walked down the aisle, he patted his uniform and glanced ahead before entering the briefing room. He could see Orha walking towards him from afar with a sour face and a rather imposing aura.

"Even you?"

Yorks found it amusing and went into the briefing room before Orja could glare at him.

Inside, there were rows of tables and chairs, with a whiteboard and a raised platform in front. The overall layout was not much different from a classroom; the only difference was the people.

Importantly, the first row of tables and chairs below the whiteboard is a long table and bench, while those behind it are mostly single chairs.

That's why Talibor made the recruits sit in the front.

Just like in a classroom, apart from the well-behaved students, most students want to sit in the back, away from the teacher on the stage.

Although there is no fixed person sitting in this briefing room.

"York!"

Upon hearing Talibor's voice, Yorke turned his gaze away from Gino, who was sitting obediently in the front row, and towards the source of the voice.

"here."

Talibor waved to him; there was an empty seat next to him.

This seasoned veteran usually sits at the very back, so the seat next to him is naturally at the very back.

It was obviously reserved specifically for him.

Yorke nodded, walked over and sat down next to Talibor, while also responding to the greetings from several colleagues.

At that moment, Orja, with a sour face, also appeared at the door.

"Quiet!" He glared menacingly, searching for any troublemakers.

But Orha's imposing aura, combined with his intimidating face, was still quite strong, and the entire briefing room instantly fell silent.

Apart from the veteran officers in the back who were relatively relaxed, only the new recruits in the front row, including Gino, subconsciously held their breath, their bodies ramrod straight and their eyes fixed straight ahead like motionless, waiting-for-husband rocks.

This made York chuckle slightly; he really did look like a complete novice.

But the next second, he felt Orhana's cold gaze shift to him, as if she had been staring at him ever since he came in.

"cough."

Yorke coughed lightly, avoiding Orja's gaze.

"Very good, we have some fresh blood today." Orha said as he walked in, setting down the documents in his hand on the platform.

His voice brought a sense of life to the new recruits sitting in the front row who felt it most deeply.

"This makes up for our manpower shortage." Orha clapped his hands.

"Let's welcome them."

Clap clap clap clap! A burst of applause filled the briefing room.

Yorke gave a symbolic pat to show his welcome and then observed the new recruits sitting in the front row.

Interestingly, since the four veteran recruits hadn't teamed up yet, there were only four new recruits in total, but two of them were girls.

Yorke raised an eyebrow and looked toward Talibor, noticing that the group of seasoned veterans' gazes would occasionally linger on the girls.

Clearly, these old hands prefer women to men.

"Isn't it tiring to work with men and women in a team?" York shook his head inwardly and looked at Orha.

At this time, Orja was training his troops.

"Recruits, stand up."

A row of people stood up in the front, blocking Orja's view, but they couldn't block out his serious voice.

"I welcome you to the West Canyon Police Department."

"We value rules and traditions, and we need to serve and protect this city. Therefore, it is your responsibility to protect the safety of Los Angeles citizens and keep them away from the shadow of crime and terrorism."

Do you understand?

"Yes, sir!" The recruits, including Gino, straightened their backs and answered loudly.

"Very good, sit down."

Orha nodded, and after watching the recruits sit down, he instinctively looked in a certain direction.

The guy in my eyes was giving me a flirty look out the window.

Orja glanced out the window instinctively and saw a policewoman from the reception area hurriedly walking by carrying a pile of documents.

"**Damn it.**" Orha cursed inwardly, but could only pretend not to see it and walk back to the platform.

"Next is the instructor-trainee matching process!"

Upon hearing this, apart from Gino who still had some confidence, the other recruits instinctively tensed up.

Meanwhile, the seasoned veterans behind the new recruits were already exchanging glances, their eyes conveying a range of information.

"Hey, Yorke."

Upon hearing Talibor's voice, Yorke, who had just teased an acquaintance in the reception area, looked over.

Talibo whispered mysteriously, "Do you think we'll all be paired with female colleagues?"

Upon hearing this, Yorke glanced at Gino sitting in front of him and shrugged.

"Who knows?"
