North American Patrol: American Iaido

Chapter 6 Administrative Leave

Chapter 6 Administrative Leave

After the medical staff took the injured person to the hospital, what followed was basically a process that York was very familiar with, after all, he had gone through it countless times.

"It's you again! Yorke!"

Upon arriving at the scene, Kurt, from the police inspectorate, saw Yorke there and, like Sal, the paramedic who had already left, gave Yorke a disdainful look.

Well, it's an old acquaintance again.

When Yorke saw that the person leading the team was Kurt, he just smiled modestly and looked completely innocent.

Kurt shook his head, looked at the suspect lying motionless in a pool of blood in the center of the street, waved his hand, and led a group of people over.

Yorke stood quietly and watched.

To ensure that shootings or other incidents resulting in injuries or fatalities are handled properly, there is usually follow-up action.

These individuals will be responsible for on-site investigation and evidence collection.

They will take photos of the scene for record-keeping, documenting the circumstances of the crime scene, including the location of the body, the surrounding environment, and physical evidence.

These photos will be crucial evidence in the investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, other personnel will collect relevant physical evidence, such as guns, ammunition, and fingerprints, and conduct preliminary analysis and identification.

In addition, he will be notified of administrative leave and then subject to further investigation to assess whether his actions complied with regulations and laws.

He will be required to provide an oral statement or written report detailing the events and his actions.

He knows these procedures all too well.

He was eventually taken to the police station and subjected to a dual interrogation by Officer Orja of the West Canyon Police Department's patrol unit and the Internal Affairs Department.

"Officer Yorke, your investigation is complete. You are now being informed that during your administrative leave, you must await our notification and be available immediately. Also, do not cause any trouble."

The interrogation room, furnished only with a table and chairs, echoed with the click of the door closing.

After receiving the Ministry of the Interior's dismissive warning and notice of administrative leave, Yorke looked at Orha, who was still there and whose dark face looked sour, stretched, and glanced at the surveillance camera above.

"Would you like a cup of coffee?"

Orha had the stocky build typical of Black men, but he still exuded an unseen aura of authority. After all, a second-level superintendent managing a department couldn't command respect without authority, and in free America, failing to command respect could lead to serious trouble.

"Come to my office, I have something to say to you." Orha, with a sour face, got up from his chair and walked towards the door.

Yorke smiled and got up to follow. As he walked out of the interrogation room with Orha, he nodded or winked at acquaintances as they passed by.

Among them were patrol officers who had been arrested and returned to their posts.

Codenamed the Tenth, West Canyon Police Station is just a district police station, but in reality, because its jurisdiction is close to the legendary ultra-rich area, many wealthy people will donate a large sum of money to quietly provide support and assistance in order to avoid being affected by external dangers.

Therefore, compared to other police stations in other areas, the West Canyon Police Station is quite large, and it has multiple departments, such as patrol, criminal investigation, and traffic management departments.

As a proud patrol officer who is about to take administrative leave, with the rank of third-level police officer, he is currently in the patrol department, which, in short, is a low-level department, doing errands.

When an ordinary person calls 911, the first police officers to arrive are patrol officers from the patrol department. If the case involves murder or other serious crimes, it will be reported to a higher-level department, such as detectives from the Robbery and Murder Division.

At the same time, if the higher-level departments need assistance, then the patrol officers will help by standing guard on the perimeter, etc.

Besides running errands, patrol officers also occasionally suffer heavy blows from those with very liberal ideas, the so-called American-style iaido, like today's incident, where they were directly fed bullets, which not only caused excruciating pain but also left them bedridden for days.

That's so damn terrible!

York followed Orja to his office, and just thinking about it, he felt that the meager pre-tax annual salary of a few hundred thousand dollars was not enough to comfort the miserable patrolman.

And he suddenly understood Talibor, that slacker. With a mere pre-tax annual salary of a few hundred thousand US dollars, why was he risking his life?

"Should I arrange some psychological counseling for you?" Orha's voice interrupted York's thoughts.

Looking at Orja, who was sitting behind his desk with a sour expression, Yorke raised an eyebrow and walked familiarly toward the coffee machine, unable to help but think of the beautiful psychologist with silky long blonde hair.

I recall that full and firm breasts, slender and supple waist, firm and rounded hips, long and powerful legs, tall and well-proportioned figure, with beautiful and smooth curves.

Yorke picked up the cup, held it to the coffee machine, took a sip, and narrowed his eyes slightly. Just as Orja was about to explode, he gave his answer.

"want!"

Generally speaking, when a police officer shoots and kills a suspect, the police department will comply with the police union's request to conduct mandatory psychological intervention and counseling on the officer.

But this only applies to rookie officers or officers who haven't been in service for long. Veteran officers like him, who come and go frequently, already have the right to refuse.

"signature!"

Seeing Yorke's relaxed and unperturbed demeanor, Orja sighed and could no longer maintain his composure.

This guy certainly has the right to be indifferent. Putting aside his family background, just considering that some wealthy people specifically mention that they are donating money to York when they do so, he has the right to be arrogant.

Even so, what he appreciated was that this guy wasn't someone who acted arrogantly just because of his powerful family background. In fact, he deliberately concealed this identity, and apart from him, the police station's commander and superintendent basically didn't know about York's family background.

The important thing is to remove his family background and other factors; this guy is more capable than anyone else, which makes him both love and hate him.

What I love is his competence and dedication; what I hate is his lazy and undisciplined style, as if he doesn't understand the difference between superiors and subordinates.

"oh!"

Yorke finished the coffee in the disposable cup in one gulp, then threw it in the trash can, walked over, picked up a pen, and prepared to sign it.

"Boss, can you give me a few days off?"

Yorke finished signing the document and pushed it over with a grin.

Five days!

Orha said coldly, picked up the document, glanced at it, and put it in the drawer, then looked at York, who had closed his pen cap.

"You'd better not cause any trouble during this time! Otherwise..."

"Boss, what are you saying? Do you think I'm that kind of person?!" Yorks protested.

"I, Yorke Sheffield, am proud to work for the LAPD! Even if I weren't with the LAPD, I would still be a law-abiding citizen!"

"hehe!"

Orha sneered; he couldn't stand York's disgusting appearance and pointed to the door.

"Get out of here now, immediately!"

Yorke straightened up, his expression serious, his body upright, his feet together, his left hand pressed against the seam of his trousers, his eyes fixed straight ahead, and gave a salute.

"Yes, sir!"

"roll!"

Accompanied by the click of the door opening.

"Don't forget to report to the mental health services department tomorrow! Be on time in five days; a batch of new employees will be joining!"

"Yes, sir!"
