Chapter 64 Surveillance Cameras for Show
Chapter 64 Surveillance Cameras for Show
After speaking, Yorke looked at the people behind him and then at the silent Ezio.
"Mr. Ezio, do I have the right information about these tenants?"
Ezio pursed his lips, glanced at Monica who was breathing rapidly, nodded, and said in a deep voice:
"You're right, what if it's just a prank?"
"No," Yorke said calmly, able to see that Ezio wanted to remain aloof.
"Mr. Ezio, this is definitely not a prank. Pranks aren't like this. I know what you're thinking."
But aren't you afraid that the person who carved this pattern might do something earth-shattering to you?
If something happens to someone in your apartment building, I think not only will the rent plummet, but probably no one will dare to live here.
I'm sure he's done a lot of things elsewhere that no one knows about, and your apartment was the place he chose after upgrading, and the person he chose was your tenant, Ms. Monica.
Yorke's half-threatening words left Ezio speechless, unable to utter a rebuttal, and he could only sigh.
"Okay, Officer York, what can I do?"
York breathed a sigh of relief. In reality, he didn't have the authority to directly ask Ezio to cooperate. If Ezio didn't cooperate, he would have no way to access the surveillance camera footage.
As for whether this surveillance camera is just for show, let's wait and see.
"I need to check the video footage from the surveillance cameras above."
However, what you think about always happens. Yorke saw Ezio glance at the security camera above the stairs and gave a slightly embarrassed dry laugh.
"The surveillance camera is just an empty shell; it's been broken for a long time. I just hung it up there as a decoration."
Regardless of how York felt, Monica's expression turned quite unpleasant. She hadn't forgotten that when she rented the place, the landlord had told her that the security cameras were still running and that he would be watching them, ensuring a certain level of security.
York was speechless; Murphy's Law applies here.
Although I had thought that many surveillance cameras in the Free Country were just for show, I really didn't expect it to be this exaggerated. The surveillance cameras hanging there looked brand new.
"Alright," Yorkes sighed, glancing at Gino and Monica:
"It seems we'll have to think of some other methods."
In this situation, either Monica should be moved to another place for safety reasons, or a patrol should be conducted to search for suspicious persons using surveillance cameras on the streets.
After all, no one has ever seen the suspect's true face.
Of course, Yorke hadn't forgotten his own suspicions: this guy must have done something earth-shattering elsewhere, but no one knew it yet.
In short, he will definitely have some involvement in this matter.
Perhaps feeling the atmosphere was a bit oppressive and he had lost face, Ezio tried to salvage the situation by saying:
"Actually, apart from my apartment, all the other apartment buildings have security cameras installed, which might be helpful to your investigation."
He then said earnestly, "We landlords are all in contact with them; I can ask them!"
Yorke nodded: "Well then, I'll leave it to Mr. Ezio."
"It's nothing, it's nothing." Ezio glanced at Monica, whose brows were slowly beginning to relax, and said awkwardly, remembering the misunderstanding he had made about her before.
"This is what I should do."
-
In a short time, everyone had their own tasks. After leaving their contact information, Ezio went to his neighbors to ask for video footage from the surveillance cameras and to have them inquire about the situation of the tenants in their apartment building.
Monica, after speaking with Gersta, was temporarily moved and her attention shifted to him.
Seeing the touched look on Monica's face as she got into the taxi, Yorke knew that little Gustav was likely to win the heart of his beauty tonight.
Remembering that Monica looked about 70% presentable after tidying up, York decided to ask Little Gustav to bring a few more croissants next time, and looked at Ginoto waiting by the driver's side of the car.
"Let's go, let's walk around this area first and see if there are any suspicious people or if the person who carved the pattern might have done something there."
Gino nodded: "Okay!"
The two got into the car at the same time, and Gino picked up the walkie-talkie: "Call dispatch center, 10-A-11, resume patrol."
"receive!"
Upon hearing the reply, Gino started the car, glanced subconsciously at the calm York, and asked curiously.
"Sir, have you received any formal training in this area?"
Yorke turned to Gino: "What do you mean?"
"You seem to know everything," Gino said admiringly. "I didn't even notice when I went up there."
Yorke turned his head back, habitually glancing out the car window as he recalled the last night's mental stimulation: "If you make observation a habit, and pay more attention to the details of life, you can do it too, because crime scenes or related environments often hide important information."
In cases like Ms. Monica's, I simply used my observations, combined with information provided by Ms. Monica herself, to deduce the connections and patterns between them through logical thinking.
York paused for a moment, then said, "It's actually not that difficult."
Gino nodded, thought about it and it seemed to make sense, but after thinking about it carefully, he realized it wasn't as simple as Yorks had said.
Because if it were him, he would only focus on Ms. Monica herself after going up there. If Ms. Monica could not provide relevant evidence, he might really think that Ms. Monica was sick.
"I'm definitely not cut out for this," he concluded.
Yorke smiled and said, "So you still have to learn, otherwise you'll miss countless important clues when you become a detective."
Gino shrugged: "By then, I'll probably have already resigned."
"So what is your purpose in becoming a patrol officer?" Yorke narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Gino, whose expression had changed.
"And they even specially arranged for him to be placed next to me."
"Ahem! Because being a policeman is my dream." Gino coughed a few times, realizing he had said the wrong thing, shut his mouth, turned the steering wheel, and drove into the right lane.
"Dream? Would you resign?" Yorks' eyes revealed a mocking look.
Gino kept his mouth shut, knowing that less said, less mistake.
Seeing Gino's attitude, York didn't bother to care: "I don't care why you became a patrolman, but your role on duty is to follow orders. Otherwise, I will apply for a transfer so you can have a different instructor."
"Sir, I will obey your orders! If you want me to go east, I will go east; if you want me to go west, I will go west!" Gino shouted.
But Yorke's next words made his face stiffen: "Very well, for the first month's evaluation, I will only give you a bad review. Now turn right and go take a look at that apartment area."
