Sun Wukong grinned:

"OK."

"Then leave."

"I, Old Sun, will follow."

"If you can't walk anymore, I'll carry you."

"If you can't climb anymore, I'll carry you."

"I'll take you to the Western Paradise."

Xuanzang's eyes were slightly red.

"Thank you..."

Sun Wukong interrupted him:

"You're welcome."

"Your senior told me to protect you, so I will."

"It's not about thanking me or not."

Xuanzang nodded.

keep going.

step.

step.

Behind him, a trail of blood stretched out.

The sun is setting in the west on the horizon.

The journey west is still long.

But he knew.

I am not alone anymore.

In the void.

Kong Xuan watched this scene unfold.

The corners of his mouth rose slightly.

It wasn't a waste of time to save that monkey.

This monk, I'm not mistaken.

He turned around.

The ink-black robe fluttered lightly.

Disappearing into the sunset.

The mountain road gradually becomes steeper.

Xuanzang walked slowly, but without stopping.

The bloodstains on the soles of the feet meandered all the way from the foot of the mountain to the mountainside.

Sun Wukong followed behind, staring at the bloodstains, and scratched his head.

He has lived for hundreds of years and has seen ruthless people, but he has never seen anyone this ruthless.

His feet were rotten to the bone, yet he still kept walking.

He couldn't help but speak:

"Monk, take a rest."

Xuanzang shook his head:

It's getting dark.

We need to find a place to stay.

Sun Wukong looked up at the sky.

The sun was setting in the west; it was indeed getting dark.

He looked around and pointed ahead:

"There's a cave over there, shall we stay there for the night?"

Xuanzang nodded.

The two headed towards the cave.

The cave wasn't large, but it was clean.

The ground was covered with dry grass, as if someone had lived there.

Xuanzang sat down at the entrance of the cave and took off his monk's shoes.

The soles of his feet were a bloody mess, a truly gruesome sight.

Sun Wukong looked at it and frowned:

"Your foot..."

Xuanzang smiled slightly:

"It's alright."

"A skin injury will heal in a few days."

He took out medicine from his bundle and sprinkled it on his feet.

He was in so much pain that sweat beaded on his forehead, but he gritted his teeth and didn't utter a sound.

Sun Wukong looked at it and suddenly felt a pang of heartache.

This monk is too stubborn.

He thought for a moment, then spoke:

"Monk, I'll go find you something to eat."

Xuanzang looked up:

"Thank you, Old Sun."

Sun Wukong waved his hand and walked out of the cave.

Outside the cave, dusk was falling.

Sun Wukong leaped onto a cloud and looked around.

There is a village not far away.

Smoke curls from chimneys, and the sounds of chickens and dogs can be heard from afar.

He grinned and flew towards the village.

After a while.

He carried a roast chicken and a few steamed buns back to the cave.

Xuanzang looked at the roast chicken and put his hands together in prayer:

"Amitabha."

"Old Sun, this humble monk does not eat meat."

Sun Wukong was taken aback:

"Not eating? Then what will you eat?"

Xuanzang took the steamed bun:

"This is enough."

Sun Wukong scratched his head:

"Alright."

He tore off a chicken leg and began to eat it in large bites.

Xuanzang ate his steamed bun, gazing at the darkening sky outside the cave.

Suddenly he spoke:

"Old Sun."

Sun Wukong looked up:

"What?"

Xuanzang said:

"What kind of person is this senior you mentioned?"

Sun Wukong was stunned.

He put down the chicken leg and scratched his head:

"What kind of person?"

"Even I, Old Sun, can't explain it."

"He wore a black robe and didn't say much."

"With a wave of his hand, he shattered the Five Elements Mountain."

"With a single pointer, he transformed me, Old Sun, from a Taiyi Golden Immortal into a Hunyuan Golden Immortal."

"He saved me, took me to Fangcun Mountain, and helped me sever my karmic ties with that old Bodhi man."

"Then let me protect you."

Xuanzang listened, deeply moved.

From Taiyi Golden Immortal to Hunyuan Golden Immortal...

A single finger pointed out...

Such methods are simply unbelievable.

He said softly:

"Senior, why did you send Old Sun to protect this humble monk?"

Sun Wukong shook his head:

"I asked that too."

He said, "You deserve it."

Xuanzang was stunned.

worth?

What merits or abilities does he possess to deserve such high regard from that senior?

Seeing him in a daze, Sun Wukong grinned:

"Don't think about it."

"There's a reason why the senior does things."

If he says you deserve it, then you deserve it.

Xuanzang remained silent for a long time.

Hands clasped together:

"Amitabha."

"This humble monk will certainly not disappoint the high expectations of my seniors."

late at night.

Wolf howls echoed from outside the cave.

The sounds rose and fell, growing ever closer.

Xuanzang opened his eyes:

"Old Sun, there are wolves!"

Sun Wukong yawned:

"Know."

"A bunch of little things, ignore them."

As soon as he finished speaking, a pair of eerie green eyes appeared at the cave entrance.

Then, the second pair, the third pair...

In a short while, more than a dozen wolves blocked the entrance to the cave, baring their teeth and drooling.

Xuanzang gripped his staff tightly.

Sun Wukong glanced at it:

"Monk, are you scared?"

Xuanzang shook his head:

"I'm not afraid."

"It's just a pity about these steamed buns."

Sun Wukong laughed heartily:

"interesting!"

He stood up and walked to the cave entrance.

When the wolves saw him come out, they all took a step back.

That aura was terrifying.

Sun Wukong scratched his head:

"roll."

With a single word uttered, the pack of wolves, tails between their legs, scattered in a flurry.

Xuanzang watched this scene with deep emotion.

This Monkey King truly lives up to his name.

Day two.

Xuanzang's foot was somewhat better, but he still couldn't walk fast.

Sun Wukong wasn't in a hurry, and just followed slowly from behind.

Walking and stopping, stopping and walking.

The sun moved from east to west, and it was evening again.

Ahead, a small town appeared.

At the entrance of the town stands a stone tablet with three large characters engraved on it: Gao Laozhuang.

Xuanzang's eyes lit up:

"There's a town now."

"Old Sun, let's ask for lodging for the night."

Sun Wukong nodded and followed him into the town.

The town is small, but it's very lively.

The street was bustling with people, and the sounds of vendors calling out their wares filled the air.

Xuanzang was leading his horse (an old horse he had picked up on the road) when he suddenly heard a crying sound.

He looked in the direction of the sound.

A crowd had gathered in front of one house.

An old man knelt on the ground, weeping uncontrollably.

"My daughter... she was taken away by that monster... my poor, wretched daughter..."

The crowd murmured amongst themselves, but no one dared to step forward.

Xuanzang frowned.

He stepped forward and clasped his hands together in prayer:

"Old man, what happened?"

The old man looked up, saw it was a monk, and cried even harder.

"Master... my daughter... has been kidnapped by that monster..."

Xuanzang said:

"What monster?"

The old man wept and said:

"It's a pig demon!"

"They occupy the Cloud Stack Cave on the back mountain and come down every few days to harm the people!"

"Today...today they stole my daughter..."

Xuanzang's expression changed slightly.

Pig demon?

Kidnapping people?

He looked at Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong scratched his head:

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Xuanzang said:

"Old Sun, can you save him?"

Sun Wukong grinned:

"Save them? Of course we can save them."

"But monk, have you thought this through?"

"That pig demon dares to openly snatch people, so he must have some skill."

"It would be easy for me, Old Sun, to kill him, but what about his back..."

Xuanzang interrupted him:

"As my senior said, there's no need to worry."

Sun Wukong was taken aback.

He then burst into laughter:

"Yes, yes, yes! My senior said so!"

"No matter who they are, no matter their background, anyone who dares to harm others will be killed!"

He leaped to his feet:

"Monk, wait!"

"I'll be right back!"

Before the words were even finished, the person had already disappeared into the horizon.
