Unlimited Black Cards! A Mysterious and Wealthy Young Lady!
Chapter 73 A Shocking Gift!
"Mr. Ma, Mrs. Ma, you're too kind." Jiang Wenxi nodded slightly in response, her manners polite and graceful.
She then followed the others into the courtyard, while Uncle Jiang carefully carried two exquisite gift boxes, following closely behind her.
After passing through the lush green courtyard, the group entered the spacious and bright living room.
The living room is decorated in an elegant and grand style, with dark solid wood furniture paired with warm yellow lighting, creating a warm and cozy home atmosphere.
Jiang Wenxi sat down on the sofa with the others, and with a quick glance around, she noticed that besides Ma Zhenghong and his wife and Ma Yun, there was also a young man in the living room.
The man sat on the other side of the sofa, dressed in black casual clothes. He was tall and had a similar appearance to Ma Yun, but he was more aloof.
He sat quietly the whole time, not saying much. He only glanced at Jiang Wenxi when she came in before looking away, exuding a sense of detachment.
Upon seeing this, Ma Yun quickly introduced, "Wenxi, this is my brother, Ma Du."
He then turned to Ma Du and said, "Brother, this is the Jiang Wenxi I told you about."
Ma Du nodded slightly as a greeting, his tone indifferent: "Hello."
Jiang Wenxi politely replied, "Hello." She secretly understood that Ma Du's personality was completely opposite to Ma Yun's; one was outgoing and cheerful, while the other was introverted and taciturn.
After exchanging pleasantries, Jiang Wenxi looked at Mr. and Mrs. Ma Zhenghong and said sincerely, "Mr. Ma, Mrs. Ma, it is my first time visiting you. I don't have anything valuable, but I brought a small gift. Please accept it as a token of my appreciation."
As she spoke, she turned her head and gestured to Uncle Jiang behind her.
Uncle Jiang immediately stepped forward and gently placed the two gift boxes on the coffee table. Liu Wanqing quickly waved her hand and said with a smile, "Miss Jiang, you're too kind! You and Yun'er are about the same age, you're just here to visit, why bring gifts? It's too formal."
Jiang Wenxi smiled and explained, "It's just a small token of my appreciation. I heard from Ma Yun that you, Mr. Ma, are a great tea connoisseur, so I brought a special tea for you to sample. I also chose a health-preserving tonic for Mrs. Ma, which I've heard is very beneficial for health. I hope you'll like it."
"Oh? They even selected tea specifically for me?" Ma Zhenghong, a tea enthusiast, brightened up instantly upon hearing this and quickly said, "Quick, bring it here so I can see!"
The butler, who was standing to the side, immediately stepped forward and carefully placed the two gift boxes in front of Ma Zhenghong, his movements gentle, as if afraid of damaging the exquisite gift boxes.
Ma Zhenghong and Liu Wanqing exchanged a glance, a hint of surprise flashing in their eyes—just by looking at the materials and craftsmanship of these two gift boxes, they knew they were no ordinary items, and one could only imagine how valuable the contents inside were.
They originally thought Jiang Wenxi would bring some ordinary gifts, but they didn't expect her to be so thoughtful.
Suppressing his curiosity, Ma Zhenghong gently stroked the square gift box with his fingertips and slowly opened the gilded clasp.
What comes into view is a sandalwood box inlaid with Hetian jade, with delicate texture and a solemn feel.
As soon as he opened the sandalwood box a crack, a clear and mellow tea aroma instantly wafted out, lingering around his nose. It was neither strong nor overpowering, but carried a refreshing and invigorating sweetness that instantly dispelled the restlessness in his body.
Ma Zhenghong's pupils contracted slightly. He quickly opened the wooden box completely. When he saw the three small Ru ware celadon tea caddies inside, and the four small gold seal characters "Snow-Topped Cloud Buds" embossed on the deerskin seal of the caddies, his eyes widened suddenly, his breath caught in his throat, and he exclaimed in shock, "This is! This is Snow-Topped Cloud Buds!"
He suddenly turned his head to look at Jiang Wenxi, his eyes filled with disbelief and shock.
Although Liu Wanqing didn't know much about tea, she could tell from her husband's reaction that the tea was unusual, and she subconsciously held her breath.
Even Ma Du, who had been silent all along, slightly raised his eyes, his gaze falling on the gift box, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Jiang Wenxi remained calm, nodded slightly, and spoke humbly and politely: "Yes. Such a top-quality tea is not something a junior like me would appreciate, so it would be a waste to have it here. It would be better to give it to an expert like Mr. Ma, so as not to disgrace this fine tea."
Ma Zhenghong's expression changed rapidly, a mixture of shock, elation, and emotion.
Having been deeply involved in the tea industry for many years, he naturally knows the preciousness of Xue Ding Yun Ya tea. Nowadays, even if you offer millions of dollars, you may not be able to buy even a small amount. Most importantly, there is no market for it, and even if you have money, you may not be able to find a source of supply.
The preciousness of Xue Ding Yun Ya tea can never be simply measured by money. It depends on three rigid rules: the right time, the right place, and the right people. If any one of these is missing, the tea cannot be made into a cup of tea.
In terms of timing, it chooses the hour of Chen (7-9 AM) before the snow clears up before Qingming Festival. The snow in Yunwu Mountain comes late in spring and melts even slower. Only in the two hours when the snow has just melted a third of the way and the morning mist has not yet dissipated, can the buds absorb the cold air from the snow and carry that clear and penetrating fragrance.
A moment too early, and the snowmelt freezes on the bud tips, unable to melt completely; a moment too late, and the sun rises, and the tenderness of the buds dissipates. You only have to wait for these two moments a year; if you miss them, you have to wait another 365 days.
In terms of geographical advantage, only wild tea trees at an altitude of 1,800 meters or higher in Yunwu Mountain are recognized.
The soil on that mountaintop is purple sandstone weathered over millions of years. Rainwater seeps in quickly, but nutrients are locked in tightly. Wild tea trees grow in the cracks of rocks, their roots running deep. They sprout only two or three new buds a year, and even birds rarely land there.
Even more demanding is that wild orchids must grow around the tea tree, and the fragrance of orchids must seep into the roots of the tea tree so that after swallowing the tea soup, a faint orchid and honey fragrance will rise on the tongue.
The work of picking tea is even more demanding. Tea pickers must be skilled enough to practice from the age of fifteen to twenty-five, and their finger strength must be precisely controlled—too much force will crush the buds, causing the downy hairs to fall and the tea soup to become cloudy; too little force will prevent the buds from being picked, thus harming the growth of the following year.
The picked buds must be immediately wrapped in Yinshan Xuan paper and carried back at a constant temperature in one's bosom. The withering is done with a pine wood fire over a low flame, with the flame as fine as a hair. The kneading process involves seven steps, each of which must be done by a tea master with more than ten years of experience. If the force is even slightly off, the flavor will be completely ruined.
Storage is an even more arduous and patient process. The new tea must be packed into old bamboo baskets from Yinshan Mountain, lined with three layers of Xuan paper, and buried in tea cellars in the misty mountains.
Tea cellars need to be kept at a constant temperature and humidity, and orchids must be buried inside to allow the tea to slowly "awaken" for three years, shedding its rawness and developing a lingering, mellow flavor.
Ma Zhenghong's gaze fell on the three small tea canisters, and he quickly calculated in his mind—these three tea canisters together contain a full three ounces of Xue Ding Yun Ya tea!
He really didn't expect that Jiang Wenxi, a young junior, would be so generous!
After the initial shock, Ma Zhenghong carefully opened another long box.
The moment the lid was opened, a faint aroma of ginseng mixed with a sweet honey scent wafted out, and inside was the very bottle of Jade Dew Elixir in an icy imperial green jadeite jar.
