"Getting back to the point, Ms. Mamiya, could you please tell me where I am and why I'm here?"

Amamiya Rin perked up and asked Mamiya Yuka a more important question.

"This...?"

Mamiya Yuka's expression turned strange, and she looked at Amamiya Rin as if she were looking at some rare and exotic animal.

A disabled person with limited mobility suddenly becomes a powerful warrior, a vigorous and brave swordsman suddenly dies, and the person who died suddenly comes back to life an hour later for no apparent reason.

Even after a day and a night had passed, Mamiya Yuka still found it incredibly unbelievable when she thought about it again.

"You suddenly died yesterday afternoon. Your bag contained several million yen. Leaving you there wasn't an option, and handing you over to the police wouldn't provide an explanation, so I had no choice but to bring you back..."

Yuka Mamiya carefully recounted her experiences from yesterday.

After Amamiya Rin was revived, Mamiya Yuka tried to wake him up, but he was sleeping too soundly. Considering that he had died suddenly and looking at his dark circles, Mamiya Yuka didn't dare to wake him up in a drastic way and could only let him sleep from yesterday afternoon until tonight.

"By the way, a few people were looking for you yesterday. We're quite destined to meet!"

As she spoke, Yuka Mamiya leaned closer, her tone filled with the excitement of discovering a little secret.

"The first person to call was Junya Kazemi. My university folklore professor, Professor Kirisaki, is his older brother. What a coincidence!"

Yuka Mamiya said excitedly.

"Folklore teacher..."

Amamiya Rin's expression was strange. He wasn't concerned that the two of them had the same acquaintance, but rather that they were both folklorists.

Folklorists with a horror worldview probably have a mortality rate of no less than 99%.

"What did Junya Kazami say?"

Amamiya Rin's reaction was too ordinary, causing Mamiya Yuka to pout in dissatisfaction.

"He asked about your safety. Because I wasn't very clear about your relationship, and your injuries were healing too quickly, even though Feng Hai is the teacher's younger brother, I didn't dare to go into too much detail. I just told him to rest at my house. He didn't ask any further questions and told you to call him back to let him know you're safe after you wake up."

As for pressing Junya Kaze about information about Yuuma Azawa, leaving Junya flustered and forced to hang up to escape her entanglement, there's no need to tell Rin Amamiya about that.

"The second call... was from that national idol, Ms. Fujino Terumi. I never expected that Amamiya-kun would be friends with that national idol. It's a pity I'm not a fan of celebrities, nor am I a paparazzi responsible for taking pictures of stars. I've wasted this connection with Amamiya-kun."

Yuka Mamiya sat back down and made a little joke to Rin Amamiya.

"By the way, after Ms. Fujino Terumi expressed her concern for you, it seemed like she had something else to ask you, but it didn't seem particularly important. She just asked you to call her back when you had time."

"Anything else?"

Amamiya Rin nodded and continued to ask.

"There's also a Dr. Kuroda who claims to be your former attending physician. He also expressed his concern and asked you to call back to let me know you're safe."

"It's too late today, I'll let them know I'm safe tomorrow."

Amamiya Rin remained noncommittal, but gestured with her eyes for Mamiya Yuka to continue.

"There are only three phone numbers. After that, there's a comedy duo that's become incredibly popular lately, even appearing on prime time on TV. But there are some strange rumors about them. Even though their stand-up comedy isn't particularly funny, they manage to make every audience member laugh. I suspect there's something supernatural involved, so I watched their show tonight..."

Yuka Mamiya touched her nose, chuckled, and said embarrassedly.

"And then, as you see, without me even realizing it, I got infected too."

"I advise you to get rid of this bad habit."

Amamiya Rin sighed softly and warned Mamiya Yuka, "If you walk the dark road too often, you'll eventually run into a ghost. If you continue like this, you'll lose your life sooner or later."

He wished he could escape to the ends of the earth, far away from those ghost stories and curses, but Mamiya Yuka was doing the same thing, always looking for death. These past two days, first the Dissolving Series and then the Ghost of Golden Time, it's a wonder she's managed to survive in this world until now.

"This isn't a bad habit, it's my hobby, my profession, my ideal! Exploring urban legends and local customs, uncovering their hidden secrets—I'm determined to dedicate my life to this."

Yuka Mamiya stood with her hands on her hips, her chest puffed out, her face radiating an innocent yet stubborn glow.

"It's too sweet, even sweeter than strawberry milk."

Amamiya Rin shook his head.

However, despite his words, he did not continue to persuade Mamiya Yuka.

For someone who has passion and unwavering will for a righteous cause and who has not given up even after experiencing danger, one word of advice to give up is enough. Saying it too often is an insult.

"This world might need paranormal journalists and folklorists... even though the mortality rate is too high."

All Amamiya Rin could do was offer her blessings.

And, for their own sake and for the sake of humanity, they willingly take risks and do the same thing.

Amamiya Rin rubbed her temples and looked around.

The room was not large. Apart from the tatami mat beneath him and the small area where Mamiya Yuka had been sitting and watching TV, there was almost no extra space.

The corner was almost entirely filled with desks, miscellaneous items, a television, and camera equipment.

He leaned against the wall to stand up and stretched his still sore limbs.

"Ms. Mamiya, how did you rest last night?"

"Oh, I just laid out another tatami mat, don't worry about it."

Yuka Mamiya pointed to the ground behind her and said cheerfully.

"I've disturbed you these past two days. Now that I'm awake, it's time for me to leave."

In such a cramped room, taking up someone else's sleeping space and not leaving, especially since the other person is a woman, Amamiya Rin couldn't do such a thing.

"Then I'll take you to the hospital."

Yuka Mamiya did not try to stop her, after all, she was a young and beautiful single woman, and she couldn't always have other men staying at her house overnight.

"Thank you, but no need, I'll stay at a hotel."

A bitter smile appeared on Amamiya Rin's face.

Morita Hospital and Toto General Hospital are two hospitals that have experienced large-scale casualties since he was admitted.

Although he was reluctant to accept the superstition that curses attract each other, it was true. The more curses one had, the easier it was to attract more curses. He was worried that if he went to a hospital, something like the events in "Infection" would happen there.

Let's stay in a hotel for two days first, and then rent a place.

"Huh? Are you really okay? Your body... you really don't need to go to the hospital for a checkup? You died suddenly yesterday!"

Yuka Mamiya was both surprised and worried; she couldn't understand Rin Amamiya's decision.

"Don't worry, the sudden death was due to overwork. Just get some rest. I don't actually have any illnesses; all I need is rest."

Amamiya Rin put the notebook into her backpack, slung the bag over her shoulder, and decided to leave.
