Japanese Terrorist: What? I'll fight Hellstar!
Chapter 245 The Diviner's Tarot Cards
The glass door to the family dining room closed behind us, shutting out the cold air and the buzzing of the air conditioner.
It was already past 2 p.m., and the sun was hanging directly overhead, slightly to the west. The intensity of the light was not too strong, and there were always shadows along the streets that blocked the sunlight.
Amamiya Rin and Tomie walked side by side on the sidewalk of the shopping street. There weren't too many people on the street, just a few groups of two or three. There were young couples pushing strollers, housewives carrying shopping bags, and a few girls who looked like middle school students chatting and laughing in front of a dessert shop.
I glanced at my phone; it was Saturday.
Is there anywhere you'd like to go?
Amamiya Rin turned to look at Tomie and asked.
"Shouldn't this kind of thing be arranged by the man?"
Tomie twirled a few strands of her hair with her index finger and asked arrogantly.
"I can't help it, I have no experience in this area. You can make the booking. You can arrange everything until 5 p.m.
Amamiya Rin said calmly.
"That's really insincere. As a boyfriend, you're not good enough!"
Tomie raised her chin, seemingly dissatisfied with Amamiya Rin's attitude, but the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.
However, if Tomie were to make the arrangements, she couldn't think of any good ideas, so she decisively adopted the stereotypical approach of young couples on a date.
"Well then, let's go see a movie first, then visit the aquarium, and finally, go shopping in Shibuya."
Amamiya Rin naturally readily agreed.
Tomie grabbed Amamiya Rin's hand and hurried forward, intending to leave the shopping street and take a taxi directly to the movie theater.
However, just as she was about to cross an intersection, Tomie suddenly slowed down and looked across the road.
Following her gaze, Amamiya Rin saw a small alley across the street. At the entrance of the alley stood a wooden sign painted a deep purple, with four characters scrawled in white paint: "Fortune Telling House." Below that was a line of smaller text: "Love Luck, Compatibility, Future."
A young man walked out of the alley and was talking to his female companion.
"That fortune teller was incredibly accurate. He could tell at a glance that we were a couple, and he said that our personalities complemented each other and that we would definitely be together in the end."
"Really? Or is it a shill?"
The girl, arm in arm with the boy, smiled so much that her eyes curved into crescents, and asked happily.
"How could that be? She even brought up my ex-girlfriend! Honestly, it gave me the creeps..."
As he spoke, the boy showed a lingering fear on his face.
The two walked out of the alley, chatting and laughing, and then walked away into the distance.
Tomie's gaze swept over the couple and landed on the signboard.
"Love fortune telling..."
She said thoughtfully.
"Want to give it a try?"
Amamiya Rin asked calmly.
He didn't believe in divination, but if Tomie was interested, he wouldn't mind accompanying her to pass the time.
"Anyway, I'm just idling around."
Compared to simply watching movies or visiting aquariums, Tomie finds love fortune telling much more interesting.
She pulled Yu Gonglin's arm and walked into the alley.
The alley wasn't deep; it only took about twenty meters to reach the end, where a sign for a fortune-telling shop stood. The door was open, and a string of wind chimes hung on the door frame, tinkling in the wind. A pale yellow beaded curtain draped down instead of a door panel.
Amamiya Rin lifted the beaded curtain and went inside with Tomie.
After passing through the entryway, I pushed open a half-closed door. Behind the door was a small room, about twenty square meters. The curtains blocked out the sunlight, and inside, there were only two candles lit on a cabinet against the wall. Between the two candles was a skull, which was probably a decoration.
In the middle of the room was a square table and two sofas. On the table was a crystal ball and a stack of tarot cards. Behind the low table sat a woman.
She was a very beautiful woman, even compared to Tomie, she could be considered quite attractive. She wore a dark black long dress, revealing a section of her fair neck, and her jet-black hair reached her waist, with a few strands hanging down beside her ears. She wore a layer of black veil on her face, not the kind that covers the whole face, but rather hanging down from her forehead, only covering the right half of her face, like an ornament, unable to conceal her beauty.
Her eyes were beautiful and long, with slightly upturned corners, and her pupils shimmered with a moist luster in the candlelight.
Hearing footsteps, she looked up, her gaze first falling on Tomie, lingering for a second, before shifting to Amamiya Rin.
The moment their eyes met, her pupils dilated slightly.
The fortune teller's gaze slid from Amamiya Rin's face to her shoulder, from her shoulder to her chest, and then back to her face. The whole process took less than two seconds, but Amamiya Rin felt a sticky, damp sensation.
The fortune teller's eyes held a certain affection, but that affection was tinged with possessiveness.
Amamiya Rin's brow twitched slightly.
He was all too familiar with this feeling; it was the same look the mayor had given him at the party before—a look that made him uncomfortable.
Unlike in the city, this fortune teller's gaze didn't wander downwards, but instead lingered repeatedly on his face, or more precisely, on his head.
Forehead, brow bone, bridge of nose, chin—it's as if you're admiring a work of art.
"welcome."
The fortune teller spoke, his voice soft and gentle, yet somewhat light and airy.
"Are you two looking for a fortune telling?"
Tomie didn't notice the way she was looking at Amamiya Rin. She plopped down on the sofa opposite the low table, crossed her arms, and raised her chin.
"That's right, a divination, to predict my love life with him."
As she spoke, Tomie pulled Amamiya Rin to sit down beside her.
The fortune teller's gaze moved from Tomie's face to Amamiya Rin's face, and then landed on their clasped hands. A slight smile curved the corners of her lips, though it was not clearly visible through her veil.
"If you're holding hands, you can't see the palm lines."
Upon hearing this, Tomie released Amamiya Rin's hand and extended her own hand in front of the fortune teller, palm facing up.
"Okay, let's see."
The fortune teller didn't rush to look at her hands, but instead glanced at Amamiya Rin first.
"Isn't this gentleman coming along?"
"Let her see it first, I'm not in a hurry."
Amamiya Rin said calmly.
The fortune teller nodded, then turned his gaze to Tomie's palm and began to examine it carefully.
After a moment, the fortune teller raised his head and spoke.
"Miss, your life line is very deep and runs through your entire palm, indicating that you will live a long life. Your love line... is strange, very complicated, with many branches and intersections, yet it's very shallow, indicating that many people like you, but you've never reciprocated anyone's feelings... No, something seems a bit off!"
Upon hearing this, Tomie raised an eyebrow but did not interrupt the fortune teller.
"There's a clear main line extending all the way to the Mount of Jupiter, indicating that the young lady has a very clear goal in mind. The end of the heart line has a distinct fork. One branch extends upwards towards the base of the index finger, while the other branches downwards, cutting into the plains of Mars. The upward branch represents pure emotion, while the downward branch represents possessiveness and a desire for control. The young lady's emotions are very intense; she'll never let go unless someone dies… no, even if someone dies, it won't end."
The fortune teller looked up at Tomie with a mixture of probing and suspicion in his eyes. Something about this palm reading is off.
"Tsk tsk! Not bad, is there any more?"
Tomie clicked her tongue and asked nonchalantly.
"This is all the palm reading we can do. Next, we'll look at the man's palm."
The fortune teller still had that faint smile on his lips, but his gaze turned to Amamiya Rin.
Tomie grabbed Amamiya Rin's wrist without any hesitation and placed it in front of the fortune teller.
The fortune teller held Amamiya Rin's hand, her thumb gently tracing the lines on his palm, from the life line to the heart line, and then from the heart line to the head line. The movement was slow, yet carried a sense of weight.
"Hey, what are you doing? Trying to take advantage of my boyfriend?"
Upon seeing this, Tomie frowned, a displeased expression on her face.
"How could that be? This gentleman's palmistry is very special; I must take it more seriously."
The fortune teller looked up at Tomie with an innocent expression on his face, but his hands didn't stop moving.
"You'd better do that."
Tomie's gaze turned dangerous.
If she is not satisfied with the fortune teller's final answer, she will not care about Amamiya Rin's objections.
The fortune teller no longer looked at her, but instead held Amamiya Rin's hand and looked down to observe her carefully.
This time, she spent much longer looking at Tomie than she did looking at Tomie.
After a long while, when Tomie was getting impatient, she finally looked up, gazed into Amamiya Rin's eyes, and spoke softly.
"Sir's lifeline is very special. No, it should be said to be contradictory. The lifeline itself is very deep, indicating that Mr. should have a long lifespan, but..."
The fortune teller paused, then said uncertainly.
"There is a clear break at the starting point of the lifeline. Although it reconnected after the break, this break..."
The fortune teller's gaze held a mixture of inquiry and curiosity. Today's guests were quite extraordinary; one was immortal, and the other had been resurrected. No wonder their love was so strong that even death could not sever it.
"The wisdom line is also very special. It is very deep and straight, running through the entire palm, which indicates that you have a strong thinking ability and are very rational. However, the end of the wisdom line has many fine branches, spreading out like tree roots and extending to various parts of the palm, which indicates that you have a wealth of knowledge and are a very learned person."
Amamiya Rin nodded slightly, her gaze towards the diviner now filled with a hint of inquiry.
Judging from these observations, this fortune teller is indeed highly skilled and must not be an ordinary person.
If the occasion weren't so inappropriate, Amamiya Rin would have already taken out her notebook and searched through the information she had previously recorded to see if the person in front of her was among them.
"What about the love line?"
Hearing that the fortune teller didn't mention the love line but instead talked about the wisdom line, Tomie impatiently pressed for an answer.
"As for the love line... it's very deep, but it branches out a lot."
The fortune teller's fingers gently traced across Amamiya Rin's palm.
"Moreover, these branches are not ordinary fine lines, but very clear branches. Each branch extends in a different direction and has obvious island patterns at the end. This indicates that the gentleman is destined to be entangled with many people. However, although there are many branches, the shape of the end of each one is very similar, as if they branched off from the same source. This means that... those who develop feelings for the gentleman are essentially the same kind of people."
Tomie pursed her lips.
What do you mean, "the same kind of people"? Everyone else is an imposter except her!
The fortune teller noticed the change in Tomie's expression but didn't say anything more. Reluctantly, she withdrew her hand and shuffled the tarot cards on the table three times.
Then, she spread the cards out on the table in a fan shape.
"Please take three cards each."
Both Tomie and Amamiya Rin were very decisive, each drawing three cards.
The fortune teller first turned over Tomie's three tarot cards.
The first card is the Tower, upright. The second card is The Lovers, upright. The third card is the Wheel of Fortune, upright.
"The Tower, upright. It represents sudden collapse, destruction, and falling from a height. It's the most ominous card in the Tarot. Anyone who draws this card has definitely experienced an irreversible and devastating event in their life. After that event, the young lady's life took a completely different turn."
"The Lovers, upright, represents the attraction and destiny between two people, as well as a deeper level of choice and connection."
"The Wheel of Fortune, upright, represents destiny, turning points, and uncontrollable changes. Your coming together with him is not accidental, but predestined. But this destiny isn't necessarily a good thing. The turning of the Wheel of Fortune will make you no longer yourself."
Tomie frowned. Although the three cards were all upright and had positive meanings, why did they feel so off when interpreted from this guy's perspective?
After saying that, the fortune teller turned over three more tarot cards belonging to Amamiya Rin.
The first card is the Fool reversed. The second card is the Hanged Man upright. The third card is the Star upright.
"The Fool, reversed, represents recklessness, lack of planning, immaturity, and the potential risk of failure. In other words, you have been forced onto a path of no return, a bad start, because of the person whose fate is intertwined with yours."
The fortune teller turned his gaze to Tomie, with a peculiar meaning in his eyes.
Tomie's brow furrowed, veins bulging.
What does that look mean? A bad start? A road of no return? Is she implying that she harmed Amamiya Rin?
Tomie wanted to reprimand him as soon as she opened her mouth, but when the words came out, she suddenly felt inexplicably guilty.
The beginning...? It seems that everything started with her meeting with Amamiya Rin in the hospital.
"The Hanged Man represents sacrifice, seeing the world from a different perspective, and exchanging pain for wisdom. The upright Hanged Man indicates that the man is actively enduring pain and giving up some things for a greater goal."
"The Star, upright, is one of the best cards in the Tarot, representing hope and faith. The three cards in your hand tell the same story—struggle, embarking on a path of no return, a struggle of burning oneself out."
"And this lady's three cards, Destruction, Connection, and Turning Point, indicate that your life was completely changed by a certain destruction, and then you met him. From then on, the wheel of fate began to turn, leading you in a direction that you could not control."
The fortune teller pushed the cards forward, his gaze sweeping over the faces of Amamiya Rin and Tomie, and in a somber tone summarized their tarot readings.
