Japanese Terrorist: What? I'll fight Hellstar!

Chapter 37 Tomie's Incorrigible Nature

The abbot was leisurely sweeping fallen leaves in the courtyard. Hearing the noise, he turned around, his squinting eyes lingering on Yu Gonglin for a moment.

"Benefactor, have you gained anything?"

Amamiya Rin, leaning on his cane, slowly walked to the corridor, put his hands together, and bowed to the abbot.

"I have gained a great deal. I have practiced the fourth of the Six Subtle Gates and reached the state of mindfulness in motion."

The so-called mindfulness in motion is to extend the awareness from meditation to walking, standing, sitting and lying down, and not lose awareness while doing things. Now, Amamiya Rin can maintain a meditative state for 30 minutes in his daily life when he is not meditating.

"Observation gate? Mindfulness in motion?" The abbot's eyes widened in surprise as he asked, "Overnight?!"

Having practiced for over fifty years, the abbot had already reached a higher level of daily meditation. Even so, upon hearing that Yu Gonglin had mastered the Guanmen Temple overnight, he could not help but be shaken.

"Indeed, thank you abbot. The breathing techniques and meditation have been of great help to me."

Amamiya Rin, with a sincere expression, thanked the abbot once again.

"The 'Secret Essentials of Zen,' the 'Diamond Sutra,' the 'Heart Sutra,' and the 'Six Subtle Gates' are all common Buddhist scriptures. Any monk in a proper temple, as long as he's not just going through the motions, could probably teach you them. Your great gains are due to your own karma and perseverance. I haven't done anything special, and I really don't deserve your repeated thanks."

The abbot shook his head, leaned the broom against a pillar, clasped his hands together in return, and looked at Yu Gonglin with a look of satisfaction.

"May you maintain this pure mind as you walk through the world. When you see suffering, may you feel compassion; when you encounter someone lost, may you offer a helping hand. The Buddha's teachings are vast, helping others and helping yourself. This world is full of suffering. If you can pass on the light from one lamp to many, until all the lamps are lit, that is immeasurable merit."

"I have taken the master's teachings to heart. As the old saying goes, 'When poor, one should cultivate one's own virtue; when successful, one should help others.' If I have the ability and see others in distress, I will not stand idly by."

Yu Gonglin listened quietly, bowed slightly, and spoke sincerely.

He had received a great deal of help in less than two weeks since he arrived in the world.

Although Dr. Kuroda's "Long Dream" substance was somewhat deadly, it did indeed help his body escape the vegetative state.

Professor Matsuura helped him learn hypnosis and gain control over his dreams.

Inudou Ranko introduced him to Kikokuji Temple.

The abbot assisted him in practicing the Six Subtle Gates of Meditation.

Although Junji Ito's world is a universe shrouded in darkness, there is always a glimmer of light resisting the darkness, which allows Rin Amamiya to encounter quite a few good people in this world full of strange tales.

In fact, although Junji Ito's works are very despairing, their underlying theme is still about the principle of karmic retribution.

Why not reciprocate kindness with kindness?

"Ugh...this is disgusting!"

The morning sun slanted into a luxury apartment, reflecting faint patches of light onto the dusty crystal chandelier.

Tomie lay sprawled on the leather sofa, a bottle of expensive red wine in her hand. Wine stains, like an ugly scar, soaked the carpet, and the air was thick with the smell of alcohol.

"Damn it, Amamiya Rin! She's so noisy!"

She shook her head violently, as if trying to shake off the lingering scriptures in her mind.

The nightmare that lasted for ten years and the forced sermons that lasted for two years were more torturous than being dismembered. She had been awake for more than two hours, and her dazed mind had returned to normal, but Yu Gonglin's voice still seemed to linger in her ears, making her extremely irritable.

Simultaneously, the other thirty-odd Tomies also finally escaped the aftereffects of the nightmare; their vanity, arrogance, self-centeredness, and ugly nature returned to normal in the blink of an eye.

Yu Gonglin preached for two years, but it seemed to have no effect on these women at all.

Scattered in various places, Tomie and her companions' consciousnesses became active again through that invisible network.

(Ten years! Do you know how I've spent these past ten years?!)

(Chanting, chanting, chanting! My ears are about to fall off!)

(It's all because of you imposters! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be suffering like this!)

(Who are you calling an imposter?! I'll kill you!)

(Enough! The most important thing now is to settle accounts with that man! Don't fight amongst yourselves!)

(This absolutely cannot be allowed to end here!)

(What can we do if we can't just let it go? Do you have any ideas on how to deal with him?)

(…I think I'll try my charm on another man first.)

(My charm is absolutely unquestionable; I gave the sales clerk a wink, and he bought me a designer bag out of his own pocket.)

(I have a pretty good guy I know who's getting married soon, and now I'm going to break them up. Family, am I doing the right thing?)

(Well done! You did a great job!)

(Hehehehehehe!)

The afternoon sun shone gently through the paper sliding doors, illuminating the Japanese-style room. The tatami mats exuded a faint scent of straw, along with the subtle aromas of camphor wood and tea, creating a rustic and elegant ambiance.

Tomie sat listlessly on the tatami mat, picking up a delicate piece of yokan (sweet bean jelly) with her fingers and slowly putting it into her mouth. The sweet taste melted on her tongue, but it did nothing to dispel the gloom in her heart.

Beside her, a middle-aged man nearing forty was enthusiastically boasting about his recent business dealings. Tomie, however, paid no attention, her gaze lazily sweeping over the man and woman sitting opposite her.

The man directly opposite me was about twenty years old. He was wearing a plain linen shirt, with clean and gentle features, and a straight nose. He was indeed good-looking, the kind of guy who would make an ordinary girl blush and her heart race.

The woman kneeling beside him had her eyes downcast, her short black hair making her face appear even paler. Her features were fairly delicate, but her eyes were lifeless, devoid of any light. According to Tomie's assessment, she was ugly.

Seemingly noticing that no one cared how much money he made, the middle-aged man finally changed the subject: "By the way, Toshiyuki, you're getting married soon, aren't you?"

"Yes, Uncle, my wedding with Hinako is scheduled for two weeks from now."

The young man smiled, his loving gaze gently falling on the girl beside him, his tone filled with obvious joy.

The girl's fingers twitched slightly, but she didn't pull them away.

"Congratulations, Miss Hinako! You will be the mistress of the Toki family from now on. This is a wonderful thing that many women can only dream of."

The middle-aged man laughed and looked at the girl named Hinako with disdain.

The girl was in low spirits, only giving a perfunctory "hmm," her fingers unconsciously picking at the edge of the tatami mat, as if she was annoyed by her current situation.

"I should be the one congratulating you."

The young man, known as Toshiyuki, took over the conversation with a warm smile. He naturally took the slightly cool hand of the girl beside him, his fingertips closing to envelop her hand in his palm.

"I have been working hard so that I could be reunited with Hinako and marry her. I am so lucky that Hinako accepted my proposal."
