She opened the paper bag: "These are strawberry cream cupcakes," she said, picking one up and looking at him with sparkling eyes. "These are cookies. Which one do you want?"

Pei Yanzhou leaned back slightly, gazing intently at her vibrant and radiant appearance, his gaze so tender it could drown a person.

"Either is fine," he said. "It would be my honor to taste Mrs. Pei's cooking."
