The car door opened, and a pair of long legs stepped out.

Shu Hua glanced over subconsciously.

Pei Yanzhou got out of the car and saw her, a slight smile appearing on his lips.

"Pei Yanzhou?" Shu Hua's eyes lit up, and almost instinctively, she ran over.

Pei Yanzhou opened his arms and pulled her into his embrace as she ran up to him.

"Why did you come here?" Shu Hua looked up at him, her eyes full of surprise.

Pei Yanzhou lowered his head and gently kissed her lips, answering without hesitation, "I missed my wife."

Chi Yuchu couldn't stand it anymore: "Hey, hey, hey, this is a sacred Buddhist site, be mindful of your behavior! And could you please show some consideration for this single person?"

Pei Yanzhou then released Shu Hua, but still held her hand.

He led Shu Hua back and nodded slightly to the others: "Sorry we're late."

Chi Yuchu looked at the couples in front of her, but she was all alone.

She suddenly sighed, feigning sorrow, "I suddenly feel like I didn't come here to offer incense today, but rather to be a third wheel, and a really high-wattage one at that. What should I do if I suddenly don't want to go in?"

If she had known this would happen, she would have slept in the hotel until noon before getting up.

Upon hearing this, Shu Hua and Wen Jiani exchanged a smile.

The two of them simultaneously released the man's hand beside them, walked over, and took Chi Yu Chu's arm on each side.

"What are you talking about?" Shu Hua said with a smile, "Today is our sisters' day."

Wen Jiani nodded in agreement: "That's right, men should step aside. The most important thing today is to keep Yu Chu company."

The three women laughed and led the way toward the temple gate.

The two men who were left behind stood side by side.

Ji Tingchen pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses and shook his head helplessly: "It seems we've been completely relegated to the sidelines today."

Pei Yanzhou watched Shu Hua's cheerful figure as she walked away, a slight smile playing on his lips: "Let them be happy."

"That's true." Ji Tingchen smiled. "It's rare for us to get out and have fun."

The two followed behind, walking at a leisurely pace.

Occasionally, pilgrims passing by couldn't help but glance at them a few more times. After all, it was hard for two such outstanding men not to attract attention when walking together.

At the handwashing basin, Shu Hua carefully washed her hands.

Pei Yanzhou stood behind her, waiting for her to finish washing before handing her a clean handkerchief.

"Thank you." Shu Hua took it and wiped her hands.

"Why are you being so polite with me?" Pei Yanzhou asked in a low voice.

Shu Hua smiled, pursing her lips, but didn't say anything.

As incense was offered, chanting filled the main hall, and the Buddha statues lowered their eyes, gazing compassionately at all beings. Shu Hua knelt on the prayer mat, clasped her hands together, and closed her eyes.

She made three wishes to Buddha.

First, I wish my family and friends peace and good health.

Secondly, I wish Wen Jiani and Ji Tingchen a happy ending, and that Chi Yuchu will meet her Mr. Right soon.

Thirdly...

She quietly opened one eye and glimpsed Pei Yanzhou kneeling beside her, his eyes closed in silence. Morning light streamed through the carved window frame, casting dappled shadows on his profile, even tinging his eyelashes with a faint gold.

She closed her eyes again, silently adding a third wish in her heart: May Pei Yanzhou be happy and peaceful throughout his life.

Wen Jiani and Ji Tingchen had only recently confirmed their relationship and were in their most intimate phase. They knelt side-by-side on a prayer mat, and Ji Tingchen whispered something to Wen Jiani, who nodded gently. The atmosphere between the young couple was sweet and shy.

Chi Yuchu then went to a master to have her fortune told. She was asking for peach blossom luck, and the fortune was not easy to interpret, so she listened attentively to the master's explanation.

Shu Hua and Pei Yanzhou came out first.

In the temple courtyard, there stands a huge maple tree. Beneath the maple tree hang numerous red prayer plaques, which jingle and chime in the wind.

"So beautiful..." Shu Hua looked up at it, her eyes sparkling.

She saw someone writing prayer plaques in front of a maple tree, and various red wooden plaques, calligraphy brushes, and ink hanging on a nearby stall.

"Shall we go hang one up too?" She turned to look at Pei Yanzhou, her eyes sparkling.

Pei Yanzhou looked at her and said without hesitation for a second: "Okay."

The two walked over and each took a prayer plaque.

Here, one must write by oneself. Pei Yanzhou took the brush, dipped it in ink, and without much thought, began to write. He wrote quickly, his brushstrokes sharp and swift, finishing in a flash.

Shu Hua, on the other hand, is much slower.

She held the calligraphy brush, writing each stroke with great care. As she wrote, she kept muttering, "Wait, wait for me. Don't write too fast."

Pei Yanzhou put down his pen and walked to her side: "I'll wait for you, no need to rush."

Shu Hua didn't look up, but the corners of her mouth had already subtly curved into a smile.

She wrote slowly, each stroke deliberate. Pei Yanzhou stood beside her, watching quietly. Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the maple leaves, dancing on her face; her eyelashes were long and thick, making her truly resemble a fairy who had stepped out of a painting.

Finally finished writing.

"Alright!" Shu Hua picked up the prayer plaque, examined it, and frowned slightly. "It seems the writing is a little crooked?"

She handed it to Pei Yanzhou: "Could you take a look and see if it's crooked?"

Pei Yanzhou accepted the plaque.

On the red wooden plaque were Shu Hua's neat and elegant handwriting:

May my loved ones be safe and happy.

"It's not crooked," he said. "The handwriting is very beautiful."

"Really?" Shu Hua's eyes crinkled into a smile. "That's good."

She suddenly remembered something: "Oh right, what about yours? What did you write?"

"It's nothing." Pei Yanzhou flipped the wooden sign over without making a sound.

"Let me see!" Shu Hua leaned closer to him. "I've shown you everything!"

"no the same."

"What's different?"

"Your writing is more aesthetically pleasing."

Pei Yanzhou looked into her bright eyes and hesitated.

The sentence he wrote... was actually quite naive.

"Are you sure you want to see it?" he asked.

"Of course!" Shu Hua nodded vigorously. "Don't worry, I won't laugh at you. Just let me see you, just once."

She started using her trump card, tilting her head back, blinking her eyes at him, her voice soft and coquettish at the end: "Please? Just one look..."

This method worked every time for Pei Yanzhou.

The next second, he handed over the prayer plaque he had written.

Shu Hua took it and looked down to see the words on it:

Pei Yanzhou and Shu Hua will be together forever.

I want it in my next life too.

Shu Hua was stunned.

The wind blew, and the maple leaves rustled.

She had expected him to write something like grand ambitions, a thriving career, or a prosperous family, and she thought he would be as steady and reserved as usual.

But he wrote "Together forever" and "In the next life too".

So childish, so outdated, yet...

So touching.

"What's wrong?" Pei Yanzhou looked at her, unusually uneasy. "Is it too..."

Before he could finish speaking, Shu Hua had already stood on tiptoe, raised her hand, and gently placed it on the top of his head.

Pei Yanzhou froze.

"It's very well written." Her voice was soft and cheerful. "I like it."
