In the spacious back seat of the Rolls-Royce, Shu Hua sipped the soy milk prepared by Aunt Chen.

Pei Yanzhou sat beside her, his fingertips swiping across the tablet, browsing today's meeting agenda. His gaze, however, kept drifting unconsciously towards the person beside him.

Today she wore a beige silk blouse with a bow, paired with a misty blue fitted knee-length pencil skirt. The excellent fabric and cut accentuated her slender figure. Her long hair was loosely tied back, revealing her graceful swan neck, with a few wisps of hair lazily hanging by her ears, even the fine downy hairs were clearly visible.

As the car entered the city, the morning rush hour traffic slowed it down.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Pei Yanzhou suddenly asked, his gaze still fixed on the tablet.

Shu Hua put aside her habit and nodded: "Yeah, it's okay." Actually, she woke up once in the middle of the night. Because she habitually shrank to the side, she ended up rolling into his arms, which scared her so much that she didn't dare to move for a long time.

Thinking of this, her ears felt slightly warm.

Pei Yanzhou took in her subtle movements, a slight smile playing on his lips. He put down his tablet and turned to look at her: "Does your tongue still hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore." Shu Hua subconsciously licked her lips, a gesture that made Pei Yanzhou's eyes darken.

He suddenly reached out and gently lifted her chin with his long, slender fingers.

Shu Hua was startled and looked up to meet his deep gaze.

"Let me see." He pressed his fingertips slightly, gesturing for her to open her mouth.

"It's really done..." Shu Hua protested softly, her cheeks starting to burn. The driver was still up ahead.

Pei Yanzhou ignored her resistance, carefully examined her pink tongue tip, and only released her after confirming that the redness and swelling had completely subsided.

"Pay more attention next time you eat." He withdrew his hand and picked up the tablet again.

Shu Hua rubbed her chin, which he had pinched, and muttered softly, "It's all your fault..."

"What's it to blame me for?" Pei Yanzhou raised an eyebrow at her.

"It's your fault..." Shu Hua was speechless. She couldn't very well say that it was his strong presence that distracted her, could she? She turned her face to look out the window. "It's nothing."

Pei Yanzhou chuckled softly and didn't press the matter further.

When the car was one block away from the Pei Group building, Shu Hua suddenly sat up straight and patted the back of the front seat: "Uncle Wang, could you please stop at the next intersection?"

Driver Uncle Wang looked at Pei Yanzhou through the rearview mirror.

Pei Yanzhou frowned: "Not yet."

"I know." Shu Hua had already picked up her bag, ready to get out of the car. "I'll get off here and walk over myself. It'll be too conspicuous if I go to the underground parking garage with you."

She didn't want to be labeled "the woman who arrives at work in a luxury car" on her second day at the company. Although... that label wasn't entirely wrong in a way.

Pei Yanzhou looked at her face, which was filled with the message "I want to keep a low profile," remained silent for two seconds, and finally nodded to the driver.

The car came to a smooth stop at the intersection.

Shu Hua pushed open the car door, about to get out, when her wrist was grabbed by a force.

She turned around and looked at him with a puzzled expression.

Pei Yanzhou didn't say anything, but leaned over and naturally placed his other hand over her head to prevent her from hitting the car frame.

"Wait for me after get off work," he said softly.

Shu Hua's heart skipped a beat, and she nodded hastily, "I understand."

However, the moment she stepped out of the Rolls-Royce was witnessed by Zhang Li, a female colleague from the design department who had also arrived early.

Zhang Li comes from an ordinary family and only managed to get into the Pei family through her own hard work and a bit of cunning. What she dislikes most are those people who she believes "rely on their background" or "rely on their looks" to get ahead.

Zhang Li glanced at the iconic luxury car, then at Shu Hua's slender back, and a sarcastic smile appeared on her lips.

Shu Hua walked into the design department right on time and greeted Yao Zhiyao with a smile.

"Sister Shuhua, you look radiant today!" Yao Zhiyao leaned closer, her eyes sparkling.

"Really? Maybe you slept well." Shu Hua smiled, put down her bag, and turned on her laptop.

She could feel several unfriendly gazes falling on her. She didn't pay much attention to them.

At 10:00 AM, the design department held its first meeting for the new project. Director Qiao Na chaired the meeting, and team leader Li Wenwen took notes.

Halfway through the meeting, the discussion reached a stalemate. The client requested a draft, but the concept was abstract and difficult to grasp.

Li Wenwen looked around, her gaze finally settling on Shu Hua, a professional smile on her face: "Shu Hua is a Yale graduate with a broad perspective. Why don't we give you a try with this challenging task? It will also allow us to learn from the world's top approaches."

The meeting room fell silent for a few seconds after he said that.

Everyone realized the trap in those words—doing well was expected, but failing to do so meant being unworthy of the title.

Yao Zhiyao nervously tugged at Shu Hua's sleeve under the table.

Shu Hua looked up, meeting Li Wenwen's seemingly gentle but actually provocative gaze, her face expressionless. She calmly opened her tablet and connected it to the conference room projector.

"Team Leader Li, you flatter me. I am not very knowledgeable and can only try my best."

She swiped her fingers quickly across the screen, bringing up several ink-wash style background images, and then picked up the stylus.

"I've done some research on the fusion of Eastern aesthetics and modernity before," she said, drawing as she spoke, her brush moving smoothly. "We can start with the imagery of water. Water is both the softest and the strongest; it is the source of life and also symbolizes flow and change."

"In terms of color, we can use..."

Her explanations were clear and logical, covering everything from traditional culture to international aesthetic trends, with every design choice supported by sound reasoning. It wasn't simply a piling up of elements, but rather a sophisticated sense of style that transcends cultural differences.

Everyone in the conference room stared at the stunning concept sketch on the screen. Even Li Wenwen, who had initially been waiting to see the joke, gradually changed from smugness to a stiff and ugly expression.

Jona sat in the main seat, leaning slightly forward, her eyes full of admiration.

After explaining the last detail, Shu Hua put down the stylus and bowed slightly: "This is just my very preliminary idea, and there are still many things that need to be improved. Please give me your feedback."

After a few seconds of silence, Jona was the first to applaud.

"Absolutely brilliant!" Her voice was filled with undisguised praise. "Shuhua, your thinking is clear, your entry point is precise, and your presentation is highly innovative! This is exactly what our department needs!"

The other colleagues also came to their senses, and applause and soft exclamations rang out. Yao Zhiyao was so excited that her face turned red, and she clapped frantically.

Li Wenwen forced a smile and clapped her hands.

Jona's gaze swept across the room, lingering for a moment on Li Wenwen's face. Her tone became more serious: "I've led this department for so many years, and I've always advocated that the design department should be judged by its abilities and that there should be fair competition. I don't want to see any personal ulterior motives affecting the team atmosphere or project progress. I hope everyone focuses their energy on their professionalism."
