Sweet Temptation! The Beauty in President Pei's Palm is Too Alluring

The weekend flew by.

On Monday, Shu Hua stepped back into Pei's Design Department.

The rumors about her being a "connected employee" and "marrying a powerful man" haven't completely subsided; in fact, they've intensified. However, as long as they're not said to her face, Shu Hua selectively "turns a deaf ear." She comes to work to do what she loves, not to get angry and annoyed by boring people.

Of course, there are those who dislike her, and there are also those who genuinely want to befriend her.

That morning, Shu Hua had just finished processing a manuscript and felt a bit tired, so she got up to go to the break room to make herself an iced Americano to perk herself up. Before she had taken more than a few steps, she saw Li Cheng walk in carrying several paper bags printed with the logo of a well-known coffee chain.

"Everyone's worked hard, let me treat you to coffee!" Li Cheng said with a hearty smile, placing the paper bag on the table in the common area.

The colleagues cheered softly.

Li Cheng took a cup from one of the paper bags, walked straight to Shu Hua, and handed it to her: "Shu Hua, this is for you, a special latte."

Shu Hua was taken aback. She didn't actually drink lattes much, preferring a plain iced Americano. But the other party had already bought them, and had treated the whole group, handing her the first cup...

Out of politeness, she accepted it, a courteous smile on her face: "Thank you, Team Leader Li."

"You're welcome." Li Cheng watched her take it, his eyes brightening, and then asked, "By the way, Shu Hua, want to have lunch together at the cafeteria? There's a new Japanese food stall on the sixth floor, it's pretty good."

Just as Shu Hua was about to politely decline, a noticeable commotion suddenly arose at the entrance of the department.

Everyone looked towards the doorway.

Design Director Qiao Na and two vice presidents were seen respectfully leading a group of people in. At the center of this group was Pei Yanzhou!

The man wore a crisp, dark gray bespoke suit, without a tie, and his shirt collar was casually open. Behind him followed his special assistant, Chen Yifei, and several core executives.

The design department fell silent instantly, followed by a chorus of voices standing up, accompanied by a slightly nervous greeting: "Good morning, President Pei!"

Pei Yanzhou had an overwhelming presence. His reputation for decisiveness and ruthlessness in the business world was known throughout the company. Ordinary employees instinctively felt pressure and awe when they saw him, fearing that they might do something wrong and be targeted by this living devil.

Shu Hua also stood up in a panic. She never expected Pei Yanzhou to suddenly come to inspect the design department!

Caught off guard, her gaze met Pei Yanzhou's sweeping gaze.

In that instant, Shu Hua almost reflexively lowered her head, staring intently at the tips of her shoes, her palms sweating.

Pei Yanzhou's gaze lingered on her for two seconds before shifting away. However, when his eyes swept over Li Cheng, who was standing quite close to her, his eyes darkened.

"You all go about your business," Pei Yanzhou said.

Everyone then sat down cautiously, but no one dared to actually "busy themselves," each sitting upright with their minds highly focused.

Pei Yanzhou stepped inside, followed by Qiao Na and the vice presidents. He stopped at each workstation to glance at them, occasionally asking a question or two. Those being questioned trembled with nervousness.

Shu Hua's heart was in her throat.

Just as Pei Yanzhou was about to walk over to her, her eyes were fixed on the screen.

Unexpectedly, Pei Yanzhou did not stop when he passed her workstation and walked straight past her.

Only after the intense pressure subsided did Shu Hua dare to quietly let out a long sigh of relief. Those few seconds felt like an eternity!

After Pei Yanzhou and his group left the design department, the entire department seemed to thaw instantly.

"Oh my god, that scared me to death..." Yao Zhiyao patted her chest. "Why did President Pei suddenly come to the design department today?"

"I don't know, there was no warning at all."

"I almost suffocated just now..."

Everyone was chattering amongst themselves, but Shu Hua, still feeling uneasy, picked up her latte and took a sip. It was too sweet; she didn't like it.

However, her complete disregard for Pei Yanzhou's actions became another piece of evidence in the eyes of some people with ulterior motives.

Previous rumors about Shu Hua being a high-ranking employee through connections and even having a somewhat ambiguous relationship with President Pei were only partially true. Now, Pei Yanzhou personally inspected the company and didn't even give this stunningly beautiful new employee a second glance, his attitude practically cold. This undoubtedly confirmed the speculation that Shu Hua, being a person with connections, was not favored, or perhaps was simply forced in by a mid-level manager.

Many people secretly thought: It seems that Shu Hua's background isn't as strong as they imagined.

As the afternoon was drawing to a close, Shu Hua had already packed her things and was ready to slip away.

Yao Zhiyao skipped over and took her arm: "Sister Hua! Don't forget the department dinner tonight!"

"A get-together?" Shu Hua was taken aback.

"Yeah! Didn't you see the group messages yesterday? President Pei is treating the entire design department to dinner tonight!"

Li Cheng also joined in, explaining with a smile, "This is a company tradition. President Pei occasionally invites each department to dinner, and this time it's our design department's turn. Shu Hua, you absolutely have to come."

"Yes, yes!" a female colleague chimed in excitedly, "I've been waiting for this opportunity for so long! Finally, I get to see President Pei's divine face up close!"

Xiaoling, the female colleague, blushed and retorted, "What 'dream girl'? That's such an awful term! I'm a genuine career fan and... a little bit of a looks fan! How many times a year do we get to see President Pei in person? When he came down for his inspection today, I thought something terrible had happened and the dinner was going to be canceled. What a waste of worry!"

"I heard that last time President Pei treated the marketing department to a meal at the Blue Valley Hotel, the scale of it was... I heard that the meal cost this much!" A male colleague mysteriously held up three fingers.

"Three hundred thousand?" Yao Zhiyao guessed.
