Sweet Temptation! The Beauty in President Pei's Palm is Too Alluring
Chapter 32 Plagiarism Scandal
"I have evidence." Shu Hua met Qiao Na's gaze. "My original design manuscripts and electronic creation process records can all prove it. However, I don't have the original manuscript with me right now."
Upon hearing this, a flicker of panic crossed Zhang Li's eyes, but she quickly regained her composure and shrieked, "Who knows if you forged it at the last minute!"
Li Wenwen chimed in, "Exactly! Shu Hua, you're not trying to stall for time and go fabricate evidence, are you?"
"I think it's you guys who fabricated the evidence. Anyone can cry wolf when they're the thief," Yao Zhiyao couldn't help but mutter under his breath.
Shu Hua patted Yao Zhiyao on the shoulder, signaling her not to take sides, and looked at Qiao Na: "President Qiao, I need someone to help me bring some things from home, it will take about an hour."
"An hour?" Li Wenwen scoffed. "You want everyone to wait here for you for an hour? Are you kidding me! Everyone's time is precious!"
Qiao Na checked the time and said to Shu Hua, "Shu Hua, I'll give you half an hour. If I don't see solid evidence in half an hour, you'll be fully responsible for this." Her meaning was clear: without evidence, Shu Hua would not only have to apologize, but she might also have to leave.
"No problem." Shu Hua nodded.
The report is paused; everyone take a half-hour break.
Shu Hua walked out of the conference room, found a quiet spot by the bed, took out her phone, and dialed a number.
The call was answered almost instantly, and Ding Lun's calm and reliable voice came from the other end: "Hello, Miss."
"Ding Lun, I only have half an hour now," Shu Hua said quickly. "Could you go back to Pei Yanzhou's and my home and bring my tablet and a document to Pei's Building? Aunt Chen will give them to you."
"Understood, Miss." Ding Lun didn't waste any words.
After hanging up the phone, Shu Hua returned to the rest area outside the conference room, took a cup of coffee, and slowly sipped it.
When Li Wenwen walked over and saw her relaxed demeanor, she felt even more uncomfortable.
"Shu Hua, you're still in the mood for coffee at a time like this?" she said sarcastically. "Aren't you afraid you won't be able to produce any evidence and will be packing your bags and leaving?"
Shu Hua glanced at her sideways, raised an eyebrow, and slowly took another sip of coffee.
"Team Leader Li, let me also give you a piece of advice."
Li Wenwen raised her chin slightly: "Speak."
"If you walk by the river often, you're bound to get your shoes wet," Shu Hua smiled slightly, but her eyes were cold. "You'd better be careful not to accidentally fall into the river and drown yourself."
Li Wenwen's expression changed: "You!"
"What's wrong with me?" Shu Hua blinked innocently, turned around and walked away, ignoring her.
Twenty-five minutes later.
A heavy motorcycle roared to a stop in front of the Pei Group building. Ding Lun stepped off the motorcycle, took off his helmet, and carrying a file bag, strode into the building and handed the documents to Yao Zhiyao, who was already waiting in the lobby.
In the conference room, everyone was getting impatient.
"Mr. Qiao, it's been almost half an hour," Li Wenwen deliberately glanced at her watch, "Shu Hua didn't run away because she couldn't produce any evidence, did she?"
The moment the words were spoken, the conference room door was pushed open.
Shu Hua walked in, carrying a file folder and a tablet.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." She said in a flat tone, walked to the projector, and connected her tablet.
Then, she took out a stack of hand-drawn sketches from the file bag.
"These are my original manuscripts," Shu Hua said, placing the manuscripts one by one on the table.
The timestamp is from last Tuesday at 8 PM. The design concept, core idea, and sketches are all included.
She then opened her tablet and brought up a folder: "These are the source files, created at 9:03 PM last Tuesday. The daily modification records are all here."
Finally, she pulled up a comparison image of her PPT with Zhang Li's.
"Zhang Li's proposal has the same core concept of 'natural symbiosis,' imagery, color scheme, and even font choice as mine." Shu Hua looked at Zhang Li, raised an eyebrow, "The only difference is that there are some details in my proposal that she didn't understand—because she simply didn't grasp my design thinking."
The evidence is conclusive and irrefutable.
The meeting room was completely silent.
Zhang Li's face was deathly pale. She opened her mouth, but couldn't utter a single word.
Li Wenwen tried to argue, "This...this doesn't necessarily mean Zhang Li plagiarized! Similar ideas are also possible..."
"Team Leader Li," Qiao Na interrupted her coldly, "you know better than I how likely it is that the core design ideas will be similar."
Unless these two people share a single brain, it's impossible for them to be this similar.
She looked at Zhang Li, her face already very grim: "You're suspended from your duties until the matter is thoroughly investigated."
"Why?!" Zhang Li stood up abruptly. "President Qiao, I know you favor Shu Hua, but you can't just suspend me like this!"
Jona's eyes were as cold as ice: "I'm only suspending you temporarily. I don't want to say anything too harsh, so I'm saving you some face. But that doesn't mean I know nothing."
Zhang Li wanted to say something, but Li Wenwen held her back tightly.
End of the meeting.
Shu Hua packed her things and walked out of the conference room, feeling even more exhausted than if she had worked overtime for three consecutive days. She was mentally exhausted. All she wanted was to peacefully do the designs she loved, so why did all this messy, annoying stuff keep coming her way? If it were her old temper, she would have slapped them all by now.
The more you try to be indifferent, the more trouble you'll encounter.
In the evening, to thank Ding Lun for "saving the day" and to vent about her work frustrations, Shu Hua invited Chi Yu Chu and Ding Lun to dinner at a private room in a Japanese restaurant.
After hearing Shu Hua recount the dramatic events of the day, Chi Yu Chu slammed her fist on the table in anger: "Damn it! Honey, you can tolerate this? Which two bitches were they? Tell me their names! I'll get someone to teach them a lesson! This is outrageous!"
Shu Hua quickly poured her some tea to calm her down: "Forget it, forget it, why bother arguing with them? Anyway, I already humiliated them on the spot. Director Qiao also said he would handle it."
"Baby, you're just too good-natured!" Chi Yuchu was still indignant. "The more you tolerate these kinds of people, the more they'll take advantage of you!"
Shu Hua rested her chin on her hand, looking distressed. "I just want to have a good job, why is it so hard? Is it wrong to be pretty and talented?"
Because of her appearance and abilities, she suffered a lot of inexplicable criticism and exclusion at the company. Some colleagues said really hurtful things behind her back. Just because her voice was sweet and soft, they called her a "green tea b*tch," a "pretentious idiot," and said she "got her way to the top by her looks." Although Shu Hua always said she didn't care, hearing it so often inevitably made her sad.
Chi Yuchu quickly comforted her, "Of course it's not your fault! It's those people who have bad intentions!"
She suddenly remembered something: "By the way, did you tell your CEO Pei about this? His wife is being bullied, how can he just sit idly by?"
"Why tell him all this?" Shu Hua shook her head. "He's so busy; things in New York are enough to keep him occupied."
Actually, it wasn't that she didn't want to talk about it, but she felt... there was no need to bother him with such a small matter. Besides, she wanted to be able to handle it herself.
"You," Chi Yuchu poked her forehead, "are just too good. If it were me, I would have called my boyfriend and cried about it already."
Shu Hua smiled and raised her glass: "Let's not talk about this anymore, it's annoying. Cheers!"
The three clinked glasses.
Ding Lun didn't say much, but silently poured Chi Yuchu a glass of warm water: "Drink less alcohol."
"OK," Chi Yuchu smiled at him.
Shu Hua looked at Ding Lun: "Thank you so much for today, Ding Lun. If you hadn't delivered the things in time, I would have been in real trouble."
"Of course," Ding Lun replied briefly.
"Let's not talk about these troubles anymore!" Shu Hua raised her champagne glass, took a deep breath, and forced a smile. "Come on, cheers! Thank you Ding Lun for coming to the rescue today! And let's celebrate our Miss Chi overcoming her heartbreak and being reborn!"
