Sweet Temptation! The Beauty in President Pei's Palm is Too Alluring
Chapter 73 I Miss Him
Pei Yanzhou woke up almost immediately.
He opened his eyes and met her gaze: "What's wrong? Can't sleep? Or are you feeling unwell?"
Shu Hua looked away, her voice soft and a little awkward: "Come up here and sleep. The floor is cold, you'll catch a cold."
Upon hearing this, a glint of light flashed in Pei Yanzhou's eyes, instantly filling the emptiness he had felt earlier. What was he waiting for? His wife had invited him to bed; how could he refuse!
He immediately threw off the covers and got up, moving so quickly that he was afraid she would change her mind.
This time, however, Shu Hua didn't let him sleep next to Nuonuo. She moved over herself and made room for Pei Yanzhou to lie down next to her.
Pei Yanzhou immediately lay down and pulled her soft body back into his arms. The familiar warmth and softness filled his embrace, and he sighed contentedly, then lowered his head to kiss her hair.
"Were you angry just now?" he asked softly.
Shu Hua buried her face in his chest, shook her head, and said in a muffled voice, "No."
"That is..." Pei Yanzhou wanted to ask more.
Shu Hua immediately covered his mouth with her hand, saying in embarrassment and annoyance, "Stop talking! You're so noisy! Go to sleep!"
The soft touch of his lips and his warm breath came from my palm, a tingling sensation.
Pei Yanzhou chuckled softly, kissed her palm, then pulled her hand down and held it in his own: "Our Hua'er is... shy, isn't she?"
Shu Hua: "..."
This guy!
Didn't I say no talking?!
Why are you still saying that?!
She was both ashamed and angry, so she simply turned over, turned her back to him, and ignored him.
Pei Yanzhou pressed against her from behind, pulling her back into his embrace, his body pressed tightly against her curves. His arms possessively encircled her waist, holding her firmly in his arms: "Alright, that's enough. This time, I'll really let you sleep well."

For the next two weeks, time seemed to fly by. Pei Yanzhou once again activated his "workaholic" mode, even more so than before.
Shu Hua felt like she was back to a while ago, when, even though they worked at the same company, she almost never saw him. Pei Yanzhou's daily activities were limited to the top few floors of the group's building.
He's in meetings every day, his schedule packed to the brim. He just finished an important domestic M&A deal and immediately had to fly overseas. In just half a month, he's flown to countless countries and cities, and his jet lag is so bad that even Shu Hua is dizzy for him.
Shu Hua could also sense that those once intimate and subtle relationships were gradually diminishing.
Even when he was very busy, he would try to make time during lunch or evening to video call her, even if it was just for a few minutes, to see her and listen to her talk. They would always say goodnight to each other before going to bed. He would also reply to her messages, even if they were just a few words.
But now, video calls are almost nonexistent. Message replies take a whole day to arrive, and most are just a few cold words: "Mm."
"it is good."
"In a meeting."
"Has landed."
"Good night."
Occasionally, he would return to China for a short stay of one or two days, but he was always so busy that he was nowhere to be seen. When he finally managed to have a meal at home, his phone would ring before he had even taken a few bites. He would then apologize and say, "I have an urgent meeting to attend to," before getting up and heading to his study or rushing back to the company.
Shu Hua had mentioned several times that she wanted to visit a newly opened art exhibition together on the weekend, or even just take a walk in the neighborhood... He would always agree, but when it came time, he would always be interrupted by unexpected work.
For the past two weeks, Shu Hua has spent most of her time alone. She eats alone and sleeps alone. Occasionally, she'll meet up with Chi Yu Chu for shopping and meals, listening to Chi Yu Chu chatter on and on about how Ding Lun is like a block of wood, never taking the bait no matter how she tries to flirt with him. But the empty longing in her heart just won't go away.
She missed him terribly. She missed his voice, his warm embrace, his focused yet domineering gaze when he looked at her, and she longed for him to talk to her, or even just to be together quietly.
She knew she shouldn't be so clingy; Pei Yanzhou was in his position, and being busy was the norm. As his wife, she should understand, support, and be his pillar of strength.
I understand the道理 (principles/reasons), but my heart is out of control.
That Saturday, after having dinner with Chi Yuchu, the two strolled around the streets.
As Shu Hua walked past a popular ice cream shop, her gaze was inadvertently drawn to a young couple in front of her.
The girl shook the boy's arm, tilting her face up and pleading, "Baby~ I want that sea salt caramel ice cream scoop, just one! Okay~"
The boy pinched her nose, his tone both indulgent and helpless: "No, you just recovered from a cold a couple of days ago, you can't eat cold food. Have you forgotten what the doctor said?"
"Just a tiny bite, really just a tiny bite!" the girl persisted, her voice soft and sweet, her eyes blinking rapidly. "My dearest boyfriend~ please~"
The boy was clearly unable to resist and finally gave in, sighing helplessly yet indulgently, "I really can't win. You can only have a tiny bite, understand?"
"Yay! I knew you were the best!" The girl immediately beamed and tiptoed to kiss the boy on the cheek. Hand in hand, they happily went to queue up.
Shu Hua stood not far away, watching their sweet interaction, and was momentarily lost in thought.
"Baby? What are you daydreaming about?" Chi Yuchu waved her hand in front of her eyes, noticing that something was off about her. She leaned closer to look at her more closely. "What's wrong with you lately? You seem so absent-minded. Are you too tired from work? Or..."
Did your Pei Yanzhou bully you?
Shu Hua snapped out of her daze, quickly shook her head, and forced a smile: "Nothing's wrong, don't make wild guesses. It's just that lately... I might not be getting enough rest."
Chi Yuchu looked suspicious: "Really? You're not lying to me. You have to tell me if anything happens, okay?"
"I know, don't worry, it's really nothing." Shu Hua patted her hand, her tone deliberately relaxed.
Chi Yuchu looked at her suspiciously for a few moments. Seeing that she was unwilling to say more, she didn't press her further, but she kept a watchful eye on her.
Despite saying that, the dull, heavy feeling in Shu Hua's heart did not dissipate.
Back home, the apartment was still empty. She took a shower, lay on the bed, and habitually picked up her phone. The chat window remained open with a message she had sent that morning: "How's the weather in Vancouver today? Remember to eat on time."
No reply.
She hesitated for a moment, then typed again: "Are you still busy? Please reply when you see this message; I'm a little worried about you."
send.
Time ticked by, but the screen remained dark. Half an hour, an hour… still, silence reigned.
Shu Hua placed her phone face down on the bedside table, turned off the light, and forced herself to close her eyes. Forget it, she wouldn't wait any longer.
She was awakened in the middle of the night by a clap of thunder. A torrential downpour had begun outside, and large raindrops were pounding against the windowpane.
In the height of summer, thunderstorms can strike at any time.
Almost simultaneously, a sharp, familiar cramping pain shot through my lower abdomen, as if a hand was twisting it hard inside!
"Ugh..." She curled up in pain, and a layer of cold sweat instantly appeared on her forehead.
She rarely experienced menstrual cramps in the past, at most just a little discomfort, but perhaps because she hadn't been resting well lately, this time the pain was so severe!
"Pei Yanzhou..." she called out the name subconsciously, reaching her hand to her side.
However, the only response she received was the pouring rain and rumbling thunder outside the window. The spot beside her was cold and flat, empty. She suddenly realized—he was in Vancouver, he couldn't possibly be home.
Overwhelmed by immense grievances and physical pain, her nose tingled, and tears nearly welled up. Biting her lip, she forced back the pain and panic, her hand trembling as she reached for her phone on the bedside table.
My fingers were a little numb from the pain, but I managed to find Aunt Chen's phone number and dialed it.
