Chapter 186: Venturing Deep into the Lush Forest, Exploring

Jiangchuan entered the forest road again in order to reach the Asabane Dojo in the mountains.

"Jiang Chuan, you said the leader of the Scarlet Dojo is a ninja?" Xiaoxia asked as they walked.

"Yes, A-Ju, a Poison-type ninja." Jiang Chuan nodded: "The Gym Leader is a very powerful character, and he uses only Poison-type Pokémon."

"Poison type..." Xiaoxia frowned. "Then we'll have to be careful."

"It's alright." Jiang Chuan smiled. "Pikachu's level is high now, so it's not a big problem."

As the two were talking, Xiaoxia suddenly reached out and grabbed Jiang Chuan's arm.

"Hey, slow down, I can't keep up."

With that pull, she drew Jiang Chuan's arm directly into her arms.

Jiang Chuan felt his elbow bump against something soft and squishy.

It is very elastic and has a great feel.

His heart skipped a beat, but he remained outwardly calm.

"It's because your legs are short," Jiang Chuan teased.

"You're the one with short legs!" Xiaoxia glared at him, but didn't let go of his arm.

Instead, they hugged each other even tighter.

The soft touch was even more pronounced.

Jiang Chuan took a deep breath.

Hanako walked beside them, and seeing the two being so intimate, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.

At this moment, Xiaoxia suddenly let go of Jiang Chuan's arm, ran in front of him, turned around to face him, and frowned slightly.

"Jiang Chuan, I have a question for you."

"explain."

"How many Pokémon have you caught?"

As Xiaoxia spoke, she glanced at Jiang Chuan's waist.

She counted them.

One, two, three... seven?

Xiaoxia was stunned for a moment.

She rubbed her eyes and counted again.

That's right, there are seven.

The seven Poké Balls were neatly hung on Jiang Chuan's belt.

"Wait!" Xiaoxia's eyes widened. "How come you have seven Poké Balls?"

Jiang Chuan glanced down at his waist.

Oh dear, we've been discovered.

However, he had already prepared his explanation.

"Professor Oki granted me research access," Jiang Chuan said without changing his expression. "You can bring two more for research."

"Research permissions?" Xiaoxia tilted her head, seemingly understanding but not quite.

She probably knew that some Pokémon researchers who used their work for research could indeed bring several of their commonly used Pokémon with them.

Jiang Chuan often manages to catch some strange Pokémon, and Professor Oak is a highly respected researcher.

This sounds... kind of reasonable?

"Oh, I see." Xiaoxia nodded. "So, what Pokémon did you catch?"

"Just one bird with a bit of potential," Jiang Chuan said casually.

"A bird with high potential?" Xiaoxia blinked in confusion. "Your eagle is already so big, it must have super high potential, right?"

She thought of the majestic eagle in Jiangchuan.

"What other bird could be more powerful than it?" Xiaoxia tilted her head and thought for a moment. "Could it be a divine bird?"

She laughed after she finished speaking.

How could that be?

The divine bird is not so easy to catch.

Jiang Chuan smiled but did not answer.

He simply reached out and gently rubbed Xiaoxia's head.

My palm ran through her soft hair; it felt wonderful.

Xiaoxia squinted her eyes as they were being rubbed, like a cat being stroked.

"What are you doing?" she muttered softly, but did not move away.

Just then, Hanako walked up from behind.

"What are you two chatting about, all smiles?" Hanako asked with a smile.

Her voice was gentle, with a magnetic quality unique to mature women.

Xiaoxia blurted out, "They're talking about the birds in Jiangchuan."

The moment the words left his mouth, the air fell silent.

Hanako paused for a moment.

Then, her cheeks flushed slightly.

His eyes darted back and forth between Xiaoxia and Jiangchuan twice.

"So we only need to set up two tents tonight?" Hanako whispered.

Although the sound was soft, everyone in the quiet forest could hear it clearly.

Xiaoxia realized what was happening too.

Her face flushed red instantly.

The redness spread from her neck all the way to her ears.

"Oh dear~ Hanako-neechan, you..." Xiaoxia stomped her foot: "You've been corrupted by Jiangchuan too~"

"I was talking about Jiang Chuan catching Pokémon."

Xiaoxia explained, her voice tinged with a coquettish tone.

Hanako smiled slightly.

That smile held a hint of slyness, yet also a touch of tenderness.

"Okay, okay." Hanako nodded. "I misunderstood."

As she spoke, her eyes unconsciously drifted toward Jiang Chuan.

Jiang Chuan remained calm, and even seemed to want to laugh.

These two women are both incredibly alluring.

Hanako quickly regained her composure.

She took out a map from her backpack, unfolded it, and looked at it.

"The map says the Crimson Gym is nearby." Hanako looked up and glanced around. "But there are only tall trees around, and nobody else. Is it really near a gym?"

Jiang Chuan also observed the surrounding environment.

Towering trees, dense shrubs, and the ground covered with fallen leaves.

Occasionally, you can see a few small rattatas darting by, or hear the calls of finches.

It is indeed very remote.

"The Crimson Dojo is like this," Jiang Chuan explained. "Its leader is a ninja, and this kind of deep mountain forest is very suitable for their training."

"If we walk a little further, we'll probably see it."

The group had only taken a few steps.

Suddenly, a white light flashed.

"Huh?"

Psyduck. It suddenly appeared, its hands covering its head, its eyes glazed over, its mouth slightly open.

He looked completely silly.

Pikachu and Eevee, standing nearby, were both stunned.

"Pikachu?" Pikachu tilted its head, looking puzzled.

"Booboo?" Booboo blinked.

Xiaoxia paused for a moment, then frowned.

"Hey, Psyduck, what are you doing out here all of a sudden?"

Psyduck did not answer.

It quacked and waddled along on its short legs to the nearby spring.

Then he bent down, put his head into the water, and started drinking the water with gulps.

Hanako couldn't help but laugh when she saw this.

"Psyduck is so intelligent," Hanako said gently. "It can even come out to drink water on its own when it's thirsty."

"Then let's all rest here for a bit."

As Hanako spoke, she walked to a large rock and sat down.

Xiaoxia also went over and sat down next to Hanako.

"Well, the Duck God is naturally intelligent," Jiang Chuan commented.

He walked to the spring, squatted down, and watched Psyduck drink water.

"You still dare to talk back! You stinky Jiang Chuan!" Xiaoxia suddenly stood up and walked to Jiang Chuan's side.

She reached out and pinched Jiang Chuan's waist.

"You lied to me, it's some kind of legendary Pokémon."

"It hasn't performed even once so far!"

Xiaoxia got angrier and angrier as she talked.

"When it encounters attacks from wild Pokémon, it always hides behind me!"

"I'm so angry!"

Jiang Chuan gasped as he was twisted.

He rubbed the spot where he had been pinched and smiled.

"It will grow slowly," Jiang Chuan reassured him. "It will definitely surprise you in the future..."

"Really?" Xiaoxia looked at Psyduck drinking water again.

Psyduck is still drinking water.

He didn't notice Xiaoxia's gaze at all.

"Caw! Caw! Caw!"

Suddenly, an accident occurred.

Psyduck was so engrossed in drinking that it leaned its body out too far.

My foot slipped.

With a "thump".

It fell directly into the spring.

Psyduck cannot swim.

It struggled violently in the water, its two short arms slapping the surface of the water with all its might.

"Gagagagagagaga!"

The cries were filled with panic.

Water splashed everywhere.

When Xiaoxia saw this, she slapped her forehead.

"Does this silly duck really have a future?"

She was on the verge of a breakdown.

Pikachu reacts faster.

"Pikachu, Pikachu!"

Pikachu ran to the spring and dipped its tail into the water.

Psyduck grabbed Pikachu's tail and was pulled up.

Soaked to the bone, Psyduck sat on the ground and sneezed.

"Gah..." It looked around blankly, as if it hadn't figured out what had just happened.

Xiaoxia squatted down and looked at Psyduck.

"Are you really a legendary Pokémon?" she poked Psyduck's forehead.

"Quack?" Psyduck tilted its head, its eyes glazed over.

Xiaoxia was completely speechless.

Jiang Chuan watched from the side and couldn't help but laugh.

"Don't rush, don't rush," he said. "Psyduck has great potential, it just hasn't awakened it yet."

"Once it awakens, you'll know how powerful it is."

"Really?" Xiaoxia asked, still somewhat skeptical.

"Of course." Jiang Chuan nodded. "When have I ever lied to you?"

"Haven't you lied to me enough already?" Xiaoxia rolled her eyes at him.

"Jiang Chuan, Xiao Xia, come quick!"

Just then, Hanako, who was scouting ahead, suddenly called out to the two of them, her voice tinged with excitement.
