The Courtyard House: The story begins with He Yuzhu beating up the White Widow.

Back home, Xu Wenya put her things on the table, pulled Song Ran to sit down on the sofa, and asked, "How is he treating you?!"

Song Ran replied, "We've only just started dating. But so far, he seems to be treating me quite well."

Xu Wenya then asked, "You agreed to date him?!"

Song Ran nodded and whispered, "I agree!"

Xu Wenya said, "You're still young, and your father and I won't pressure you to get married. After all, marriage is a lifelong commitment. Before you get married, you must understand him thoroughly."

"What do you mean, 'understand clearly'?!" Just then, Song Shinian walked in from outside.

"Shi Nian, you're back?!" Xu Wenya greeted her, saying, "I was talking about our daughter's boyfriend."

Song Shinian asked, "Xiao Ran, how was your outing with He Yuzhu today?!"

Song Ran said shyly, "It's great!"

Xu Wenya continued, "I saw that young man. Although he looks a bit older than his age, he seems very honest."

Song Shinian said, "Don't let his young age fool you; he's accomplished a lot. And most importantly, he's a jack-of-all-trades. Besides, do you know who his uncle is?!"

Xu Wenya asked curiously, "Who is it?!"

Song Shinian replied, "Zhang Dabiao!"

Xu Wenya suddenly remembered something and said, "So he's his nephew?!"

Song Ran curiously looked between her parents and asked, "Dad, who is Zhang Dabiao?!"

Xu Wenya said, "Back in northwestern Shanxi, if Zhang Dabiao hadn't happened to be passing by with his troops, your father would have been killed long ago."

Song Ran was stunned for a few seconds, then said, "Doesn't that mean our family owes them a huge debt?!"

Song Shinian said, "He Yuzhu is He Yuzhu, and Zhang Dabiao is Zhang Dabiao. They cannot be confused."

Xu Wenya said, "But then again, He Yuzhu is indeed better than many of the kids in our compound!"

Song Ran said shyly, "Mom! You really think highly of him?!"

Xu Wenya said, "What your mother is most proud of in her life is her judgment of people."

"I'm ignoring you!" With that, Song Ran ran back to her room.

Watching her daughter's retreating figure, Song Shinian sighed and said, "In the blink of an eye, the child has grown up!"

Xu Wenya said, "We have five children, but Xiao Ran is the only one with us. If she gets married, it will be so lonely here again."

Song Shinian said, "The third brother will be transferred back in a couple of days."

"Transfer him back?!" Xu Wenya looked at Song Shinian with a puzzled expression.

Song Shinian said, "The child has grown up and become independent. He was afraid we'd worry, so he kept the fact that he was seriously injured during a mission from us. If I hadn't run into Old Chen at the meeting today, I wouldn't have known!"

Xu Wenya's face showed concern as she asked, "Is the child alright?!"

Song Shinian replied, "He's alright! It's just that this injury was too severe, and he can't stay in the front-line troops anymore. We were originally planning to transfer him to logistics. But I don't know who he got his temper from, he's so stubborn! He applied for demobilization. The demobilization report has been approved. He should be back in a few days."

Xu Wenya said, "It's good that the third brother is back. He's not getting any younger, it's time he found someone. Xiao Ran can't be married while he's still single, can she?!"

Song Shinian said, "I'm not going to concern myself with the child finding a partner. You, as the mother, should worry about that!"

Song Shinian and Xu Wenya have five children. The eldest, Song Zhaolun, and the second, Song Zhaojun, along with the third, Song Zhaohong, and the fourth, Song Zhaolin, are all twins. The eldest, Song Zhaolun, is currently in the Air Force; the second, Song Zhaojun, is at an important military industrial base; the third, Song Zhaohong, is in the Navy; and the fourth, Song Zhaolin, is at a military university in Northeast China.

"Zhu Zi!" He Yuzhu rode his tricycle back to the station. Just as he parked the tricycle and was about to go back, Ye Guoliang called out to him.

He Yuzhu walked up to Ye Guoliang and asked, "Uncle Ye, is something the matter?"

Ye Guoliang asked, "I heard you went on a blind date today. How did it go?!"

He Yuzhu replied somewhat embarrassedly, "It's just so-so!"

"What do you mean by 'like that'?! You better explain yourself clearly!!" Ye Guoliang then pressed, "Have you two settled down in your relationship?!"

He Yuzhu nodded and replied, "It's settled!"

Ye Guoliang said, "Now that it's settled, be more proactive. Invite her out to the movies and the park more often. If that doesn't work, use your strengths and bring her lots of good food! Try to marry her as soon as possible!"

He Yuzhu nodded silently, then looked at Ye Guoliang with a puzzled expression and asked, "Uncle Ye, why do I seem to be in a more urgent hurry to find a partner than you are?!"

"You little rascal?! You can't say anything nice! I'm concerned about you, and you're taking my kindness for granted?!" Ye Guoliang complained a few times, then dismissed him, "Since everything's alright, go home early!"

"Okay!" He Yuzhu responded, then said, "I'll head back now!"

Watching He Yuzhu walk out of the police station, Ye Guoliang sighed and muttered, "It's like the emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is. Who understands the heart of an old father like me?!"

Yao Qi walked up to Ye Guoliang and asked, "Old Ye, what are you looking at?!"

Ye Guoliang replied, "I didn't see anything?!" Then he asked, "Weren't you off today?! Why aren't you at home with your wife? What are you doing at the station?!"

Yao Qi replied, "Isn't it because of my unreliable father-in-law?! He beat someone up yesterday afternoon and is currently detained in our station! Now, my mother-in-law has come looking for me, so how can I ignore it?! I've already agreed with my wife that this is the last time. Once we get my father-in-law out, we'll send them back to their hometown in Northeast China."

Ye Guoliang asked with a smile, "If you send your father-in-law and mother-in-law back to their hometown in Northeast China, do you think your wife will agree?! Even if she does, do you think your two younger brothers will?!"

Yao Qi said, "I already spoke to my two brothers-in-law before I came. If they don't agree, I'm not going to get involved."

Ye Guoliang chimed in, "You should have stopped interfering a long time ago! If you keep meddling, you'll eventually get yourself into trouble with your father-in-law. If all else fails, you might as well be ruthless and send your father-in-law to jail for a few years."

Yao Qi sighed and said, "I'd like to too! But my father-in-law, he's fine when he doesn't drink. But after he drinks..." She then sighed again and said, "Never mind! I can't talk about it! I'll go check on the old man first. I'll talk to you later."

Ye Guoliang sighed and muttered, "Every family has its own troubles!" After saying that, Ye Guoliang returned to his office.
