Mu Lingyun shook his head, dismounted, and led his men toward the city wall.

Wu Feng came down from the city wall and walked to the open space at the city gate.

Mu Lingyun followed behind him, clasped his hands in a fist salute, and asked, "Sir, what should we do with these surrendered soldiers?"

Wu Feng glanced at him and said, "Bring them under your command. These are all veterans, stronger than new recruits. Recruiting them will be a great help."

Mu Lingyun accepted the order and turned to carry it out.

He called up the surrendered soldiers kneeling on the ground one by one, put away their weapons, registered their names, and incorporated them into the ranks.

With about a hundred people, if they work quickly, they can finish in less than half an hour.

Wu Feng stood at the city gate, watching Mu Lingyun busy himself.

Not long after, Mu Lingyun approached, clasped his hands in greeting, and said, "My lord, I heard from them that there are still guards at the other city gates who haven't arrived yet. There are about two hundred men scattered around the east and north gates. Should I go and gather the men from the other gates?"

Wu Feng nodded and said, "Go ahead, I'm leaving this to you."

He thought for a moment, then said, "Take six hundred men and deal with them. If the guards at the other city gates don't surrender, wipe them out. If they do surrender, bring them over and incorporate them into the army."

Mu Lingyun clasped his hands in response and turned to muster his troops.

Six hundred veterans followed him, walking along the main street of the city towards the east gate, their footsteps echoing on the stone pavement.

Wu Feng turned to look at Han Yufeng.

Han Yufeng stood beside her, with Zhao Yu'e and Sun Yujiao following behind her. All three of them were riding horses, with weapons at their waists.

"Han Yufeng," Wu Feng said.

Han Yufeng dismounted and clasped her hands in greeting, saying, "Present."

"Take three hundred men and gather the people here, tell them to prepare to relocate. Of the twelve thousand people in the city, take those who can. Don't force those who don't want to leave, but tell them that the Liao people are coming soon and it's not safe for them to stay here."

Han Yufeng nodded: "Yes, sir."

She turned around, selected three hundred veterans, and led Zhao Yu'e and Sun Yujiao towards the residential area in the city.

Wu Feng glanced at the remaining hundred veterans, pointed to the surrendered soldiers who had already been registered, and said, "Keep an eye on these people, don't let them escape, and don't let them cause trouble."

The leader of the hundred veterans clasped his hands in response and led his men to surround the surrendered soldiers in the open space at the city gate. They pointed their swords and spears at them, staring intently at them, and did not allow any of them to move.

Wu Feng turned around and walked along the main street toward the city center.

Wu Feng walked along the main street toward the city center at a moderate pace.

Most of the shops on both sides of the street were closed. In the few that were open, the shopkeepers peeked out, then quickly shrunk back in and closed the doors.

When pedestrians saw him in his golden armor and carrying a long spear, they kept their distance. Some ducked into the alley, while others turned into the side alley. The whole street quickly became empty.

They arrived at the county government office in less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea.

Two stone lions stand at the entrance, and there are five steps. A plaque hangs above the door with the four characters "Yong'an County Government Office" painted in gold, but the characters are already somewhat mottled.

The gate was wide open, and seven or eight constables and yamen runners were standing inside.

Some wore black robes with iron rulers hanging from their waists, while others wore short gray cloth outfits and held fire and water sticks in their hands.

Hearing footsteps, the group turned around at the same time, and their expressions changed instantly when they saw Wu Feng.

The leading constable was a man in his thirties, with a strong build. He put his hand on the hilt of his knife, took two steps forward, and opened his mouth to speak.

Before he could speak, Wu Feng lightly stepped up the steps and landed at the entrance of the county government office.

His gaze swept across the faces of the group, his expressionless.

The constables and yamen runners were so startled by his sudden action that they took two steps back. One of them trembled and almost dropped his fire stick.

The lead constable's face turned pale, but his hand remained on the hilt of his knife, and he dared not let go.

Wu Feng glanced at him but didn't say anything.

With a slight thought, he took out the copper key that had been taken from the county magistrate from his backpack and waved it in front of the group of people.

"This place is now under my control," Wu Feng said calmly. "You either obey or die."

After saying that, he put the key back and walked inside.

The constables and yamen runners watched him walk over. His golden armor gleamed in the sunlight, and the tip of the spear he carried still had traces of blood that hadn't dried. As he walked over, he exuded a sense of oppression, like a mountain pressing down on him.

The lead constable swallowed hard and loosened his grip on the hilt of his knife.

The group looked at each other, and they all saw fear in each other's eyes.

Someone knelt down first, their knees hitting the blue brick ground with a dull thud.

Then the second and the third knelt down, heads bowed, not daring to look at him.

The lead constable was the last to kneel down, his hands on the ground, his forehead covered in sweat.

Wu Feng walked past them without stopping and entered the county government office.

Passing through the front yard and down the short corridor, the yard was empty and quiet, with the doors of several rooms closed.

He walked to the lobby entrance and pushed the door open to go inside.

The main hall was quite large, with a ceremonial desk in the center, upon which were placed a divination box, a pen holder, an inkstone, and several open documents.

Behind the desk hangs a painting of sunrise over mountains and rivers; it is quite old, with yellowed edges.

On either side of the altar stood a sign that read "Silence" and "Avoidance".

Wu Feng walked behind the desk and sat down, placing the Crimson Python Blood-Sworn Spear against the edge of the table and the back of the chair.

The constables and yamen runners followed them in, standing at the entrance of the hall, bowing their heads, not daring to come in or leave.

Wu Feng glanced at them and raised his chin.

"Come in."

Several people hurriedly walked in and stood in a row in the middle of the lobby, heads bowed, not daring to breathe.

The lead constable stood at the front, sweat beading on his forehead, his hands hanging limply at his sides, his fingertips trembling.

Wu Feng leaned back in his chair, his gaze sweeping across the faces of the group, and asked, "Where is the county government's warehouse?"

The lead constable quickly looked up, pointed to the back of the hall, and said in a slightly tense voice, "Reporting to...Reporting to my lord, it's in the back courtyard. Go through this corridor, it's the third room on the left."

Wu Feng nodded, stood up, picked up the Crimson Python Bloodstained Spear, walked around the desk, and headed towards the backyard.

Several constables and yamen runners followed behind, their steps very light, not daring to get too close, nor daring to fall too far behind.

After walking through the corridor, the third room on the left has a wooden door that is locked.

Wu Feng walked to the door, took out the brass key from his backpack, inserted it into the lock, and turned it.

The lock is open.

He pushed open the door. The room was dimly lit, the windows were closed, and there was a musty smell in the air.

The warehouse was small, with two rooms combined together. Hundreds of bags of grain were stacked neatly against the wall.

There were several wooden boxes in the middle, some locked and some unlocked.

Wu Feng went inside and first opened the few unlocked boxes.

The first box contained cloth, both coarse and fine fabrics, stacked more than a dozen bolts.

The second box contained copper coins, strung together, filling more than half of the box.

The third box contained miscellaneous items: a few old knives, a few tattered flags, nothing of value.

He then walked up to the locked boxes and broke the locks one by one with his palm.

The lid of the box was lifted, revealing silver ingots and broken silver inside.

The silver ingots were small, each weighing ten taels, and were stacked in several layers. The loose silver was wrapped in cloth, making it bulge.

He roughly estimated that the silver ingots and broken silver would only amount to a few hundred taels, which wasn't much.

In the corner were several bundles of herbs, a dozen bottles of wound medicine, and two bundles of arrows.

Wu Feng packed the items into his backpack one by one.

They harvested about 6,000 units of grain, 6,000 units of wood and stone, and also found 3,000 units of iron ingots.

There were more than a dozen bolts of cloth, more than two hundred strings of copper coins, and more than five hundred taels of silver.

They collected all the herbs and wound medicine, and also the arrows.

There weren't many items. Yong'an County wasn't very big to begin with, and it was already quite good that the county government's warehouse had these things.
