This is currently the most direct, and perhaps only, way to break the deadlock: to infiltrate the other side's territory and verify whether there are any hidden secrets behind the seemingly perfect "coincidence."

Fang Chu nodded; Zhi Lin's arrangements were always meticulous and reliable.

"Okay," he replied, his voice regaining its usual composure. "Leave the family and Xiaxia here to me."

The two brothers exchanged a knowing glance, and without saying a word, they understood their respective roles.

Fang Chu opened the door, blending into the bustling New Year atmosphere outside, temporarily leaving the heaviness and doubts in the room behind.

Zhilin sat back down at the table, took out a letter, and began to carefully consider his words, preparing to contact that reliable "friend" who was far away in Shenshan.

The truth is like a lighthouse hidden behind a thick fog. Though faint, they have determined their course and are determined to cut through the fog and find out the truth.

When Fang Chu returned home, the atmosphere inside was completely different from the somber mood he had experienced before.

Zhi Xia was already awake and was leaning against the headboard. Wang Chun sat on a small stool by the bed, excitedly telling her about the interesting things that happened at the hair salon during the Chinese New Year, which made Zhi Xia's eyes crinkle and her face light up with a relaxed smile.

Seeing this scene, Fang Chu felt a slight relaxation in her tense state.

He walked to the bedside, naturally reached out, and took Zhi Xia's hand, which was sticking out from under the covers, his brows furrowing slightly: "Why are your hands a little cold? Let me warm them up for you."

Zhi Xia's cheeks instantly flushed red. A little embarrassed, she tried to pull her hand away, and whispered reproachfully, "Xiao Chun is still here..."

Wang Chun immediately and very sensibly raised his hands in surrender, grinning as he said, "I'm fine, I'm fine! You can pretend I don't exist and completely ignore me!"

Fang Chu didn't loosen his grip; instead, he tightened it even more. He glanced at Wang Chun, a knowing smile in his voice, and said to Zhi Xia, "She doesn't care anymore, so don't take it too seriously." As he spoke, he gently pulled Zhi Xia up from her reclining position.

Before Zhixia could react, Fang Chu sat down on the edge of the bed, then wrapped his arm around her and pulled her onto his strong thighs, holding her in a completely protective embrace.

"Ah!" Zhi Xia gasped, her face instantly turning as red as a ripe tomato. She was so ashamed she wanted to disappear. She gently pushed against his chest, her voice urgent and embarrassed, "Fang Chu! Let go! You… I have no shame!"

Wang Chun, watching from the side, stared wide-eyed. He immediately covered his eyes with his hands, then peeked through his fingers again, exclaiming dramatically, "Oh my god! Political Commissar Fang! You've gone too far! I can pretend I didn't see you holding hands, but you're hugging me like this! Are you taking advantage of my lack of a boyfriend?!"

While steadily holding the struggling "little quail" in her arms, Fang Chu looked up at the "protesting" Wang Chun and calmly replied without batting an eye, "Comrade Wang Chun is one of us, broad-minded, he certainly won't talk nonsense when he gets out, right?"

Wang Chun was amused by his self-righteous and shameless attitude, and too lazy to be a "third wheel" any longer, she stood up, patted her clothes, and made a face at Zhi Xia, who wanted nothing more than to bury her face in Fang Chu's arms:

"Alright! You two can keep being all lovey-dovey! I, your shining 'own person,' am making my retreat, I'm not going to get in the way!"

After saying that, she smiled, turned around, and left, thoughtfully closing the door behind her.

Only two people remained in the room.

As Wang Chun's footsteps faded into the distance, the door was gently closed, and the room finally fell completely quiet, with only the sound of their breathing remaining.

Fang Chu's arms remained firmly around Zhi Xia, his chin gently brushing against the top of her head, his voice carrying a hint of coquetry: "She's gone... Qingqing, now that no one's here, let me pet An'an and Kang Kang."

Zhi Xia felt a little ticklish from his rubbing, so she gently pushed against his firm chest and said in a soft voice, "Let me go first, how can I touch you like this..."

Fang Chu readily agreed and released her arm, letting her sit down on the edge of the bed.

He then knelt on one knee in front of her, gently lifting the hem of her clothes to reveal her round, smooth, white belly.

He looked at her as if she were a rare treasure, his eyes so tender they could melt. He first lowered his head and placed a few soft, loving kisses on her taut skin. Then he reached out his warm hand and gently stroked her skin with extreme care, as if afraid of breaking something, feeling the occasional playful movements of the two little lives inside.

Zhi Xia looked down at his focused and gentle profile, her heart softening. Her fingers unconsciously ran through his stiff, short hair, gently stroking it.

Fang Chu raised his head, his gaze fixed intently on her, filled with undisguised love and deep affection. His voice was low and hoarse: "Qingqing baby... I want to kiss you now."

Zhixia was stunned by his straightforward desire, and the blush that had just faded from her cheeks returned.

Before she could respond, Fang Chu had already stood up, supporting the back of her neck with one hand and wrapping his arm around her waist with the other, gently but irresistibly covering her lips with his.

This kiss was different from the previous fleeting ones; it was filled with the longing accumulated throughout the day and the burning passion newly ignited by tenderness, lingering and profound.

Zhi Xia was initially a little shy, but she quickly became immersed in it under his guidance, obediently hugging his neck and responding awkwardly but sincerely.

When the kiss ended, both of them were a little out of breath.

Fang Chu released her lips, which had become increasingly red and moist from the kiss, and instead took her small earlobe into his mouth, gently grinding it between his teeth. Feeling her body tremble slightly, he whispered intimately in her ear:

"I'll spare you for now...we'll wait until tonight..."

Zhi Xia felt weak all over from his kisses, leaning against him as she listened to his suggestive words, feeling both expectant and somewhat worried.

She looked up, a hint of confusion and the caution of a pregnant woman in her eyes, and murmured softly, "But... wouldn't doing that every day... be bad for An'an and Kang Kang?"

Seeing the worry in her eyes, Fang Chu's heart softened completely. She quickly assured her, her voice gentle and restrained: "I know what's important. I promise, I won't hurt you or the baby... Hmm?"

Hearing him say that, Zhixia finally felt relieved, buried her burning cheeks in the crook of his neck, and responded almost inaudibly, "...Mmm."

Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the embracing couple in warmth and tranquility, filled with anticipation for the arrival of their new life and the deep, unbreakable bond of affection between them.
