Love in the Courtyard: Starting with Engineers

Chapter 67: The Independent Factory Establishment is Taking Shape

At Bai Ling's home, Bai's parents set the wedding date for Bai Ling and Li Yu in front of them.

Before leaving, the two elders gave Li Yu a red envelope. Li Yu originally intended to refuse, but in the end, she couldn't resist Bai's mother's insistence, so she put it in her pocket.

Bai Ling did not leave with Li Yu, and Li Yu did not return to the courtyard alone; he went to Li Huaide's house first.

Then they went to Minister Liu's house. As for how he knew the address, it was Huaide who told them.

When Li Yu arrived at Minister Liu's house, he proposed that he wanted to make the research workshop independent.

Minister Liu initially disagreed.

It wasn't until Li Yu produced a portion of the blueprints for the Vanguard-18 (modified) that things changed.

Due to time constraints, Li Yu only completed a portion of the drawing.

When Minister Liu saw the parameters, he exclaimed that it was impossible.

"Li Yu, don't tell me this is your research!"

Li Yu nodded and said, "Yes!"

Minister Liu said, "It's simply a miracle, it's simply impossible."

Li Yu said to the excited Minister Liu, "Nothing is impossible. Compared to Qian Lao, I believe my claim is not an exaggeration."

"And our advisor also said that we need to catch up with America."

When Minister Liu heard Li Yu mention Qian Lao, he suddenly felt that Li Yu was acceptable to him.

Minister Liu then connected with the military region by phone.

After patiently sitting for more than an hour, Li Yu finally got to see a high-ranking military official.

A chief of staff and a weapons researcher.

The two took the blueprints from Li Yu's hands.

Looking at those incredible parameters.

Both of them looked at Li Yu with serious expressions, especially the researcher, whose face was full of disbelief.

"Did you design this yourself? Can it really achieve the parameters you specified?"

Li Yu nodded firmly and said, "Okay!"

Minister Liu said from the side, "Good! You can now prepare to take over your new factory."

Seeing this, Li Yu said, "I not only want the factory, I also want to take all the people in my current workshop with me."

"Because these people were all carefully selected by me."

"In addition, I hope the new plant can be located near the steel rolling mill, because I need a steelmaking workshop to produce special steel for me."

Minister Liu and the chief of staff nodded and said, "We can agree to all of these."

The group then discussed the establishment of the new factory.

After the remaining individuals signed confidentiality agreements, the military personnel left.

The military had originally proposed assigning guards to Li Yu.

However, Li Yu felt that this would only make it seem like he was trying to hide something.

It's easy to attract attention, so it's best to just act like nothing happened.

Li Yu's next task is to finish manufacturing the machine tools as soon as possible before he can begin manufacturing weapons.

Because Li Yu did not have a machine tool, he was unable to manufacture weapons.

Qin Family Village —

Xu Damao bought some food and two packs of cigarettes, hung them on the handlebars of his bicycle, and rode off with Qin Jingru to her parents' house.

As soon as Qin Jingru entered the door, her parents warmly greeted her.

"It's fine if the son-in-law comes, but why did he bring so much stuff?" she said, glancing at the villagers who had come to watch.

The blatant boasting was almost palpable.

Xu Damao deliberately spoke loudly, "That's only right. As a son-in-law, how can I go home empty-handed during the New Year?"

"By the way, hasn't Qin Huairu come back yet?" I asked deliberately.

The villagers who were watching started discussing it amongst themselves.

"That's right, Qin Huairu, the eldest daughter of the Qin family, hasn't brought anything back with her since she married into the city."

"you do not say"

"Look at what Qin Lao Er's family has."

"You can't compare."

Qin Huairu's parents, standing in the crowd, felt their faces burning with embarrassment.

They used to be very proud that their daughter had married into the city and become a city dweller.

Now, comparing the two, I feel utterly ashamed.

Xu Damao suddenly exclaimed, "The man Qin Huairu married is a master chef!"

One of the villagers watching asked, "Isn't her husband a worker at the steel mill?"

"How did you become a chef?"

Qin Huairu's parents were also puzzled, since Qin Huairu's husband, Jia Dongxu, was already dead.

Xu Damao then recounted how Qin Huairu had messed around with Yi Zhonghai in the courtyard, how she had messed around with Sha Zhu, and how they eventually got married.

Upon hearing this, Qin Dashan and his two sons rushed forward to attack Xu Damao.

If it weren't for the villagers stopping him, Xu Damao would probably have been hacked to pieces by Qin Dashan's two sons.

Qin Dashan pointed at Xu Damao angrily and said, "You better explain yourself clearly, or you won't be leaving Qin Family Village!"

Xu Damao retorted without flinching, "Everyone in the courtyard knows about Qin Huairu. If you don't believe me, go and find out for yourself!"

Qin Jingru, who was standing nearby, also said, "That chef was the one who was introduced to me at the beginning. I didn't expect that there was something between them that was unclear."

Qin Huairu's mother nearly fainted from anger upon hearing this.

As Qin Huairu's mother, she knew Qin Huairu better than anyone else what kind of person she was.

She felt that what Xu Damao and the others said was mostly true.

After being persuaded by the villagers, Qin Dashan ultimately did not take action against Xu Damao.

Xu Damao quickly took out two packs of cigarettes and handed one to each of the villagers who were watching.

These people couldn't help but think that Xu Damao was a pretty good person.

At the same time, he believed more of what Xu Damao said about Qin Huairu.

In just one afternoon, news of Qin Huairu spread throughout Qin Family Village.

The Qin family is now completely afraid to go out.

Whenever he went out, people in the village would point and whisper about his family.

They planned to go to the courtyard house early the next morning to find Qin Huairu and get to the bottom of things.

If it's true, sever ties with him; if it's false, come back and cripple Xu Damao.

They don't plan to go out until the matter is resolved.

Another reason they wanted to resolve the matter quickly was that neither of their two sons were married yet.

If word gets out, who would want to marry into his family?

Early the next morning, Xu Damao and Qin Jingru returned to Beijing.

Qin Jingru originally wanted to stay a couple more days.

However, Xu Damao wanted to rush back to watch the play, so he returned to the courtyard house early.

Xu Damao and Qin Jingru had just left Qin Family Village when Qin Dashan's family of four also left.
