Dozens more wooden crates landed heavily on the ground, this time raising even more dust and smoke.

This time, however, the round-faced treasurer no longer had an arrogant look on his face. Instead, he stiffly forced a smile as he looked at Li Erlong.

"Lord Li, we have received the necessary supplies as instructed by our Lord Kucheng."

Li Erlong nodded, squinting at the round-faced treasurer, "That's good. I hope you won't try anything funny this time."

After saying that, he turned to the others and instructed them, "Take a good look at the military supplies that have been delivered. Make sure there are no shortages. These are our livelihoods."

Everyone nodded, and the group began to examine the military supplies in each box one by one.

Seeing how carefully they examined him, the round-faced clerk's cheeks stiffened, his throat felt dry, and his body instinctively shrank back.

Sure enough, it wasn't long before the people inspecting the military supplies discovered the problem.

"Brother Long, come quick! I've checked this box of long knives and there's something wrong with it!"

"Mine is too!"

"And me! The inside of this box of leather armor is rotten!"

Immediately, all the inspectors started shouting. Li Erlong's face darkened, and he stepped forward to randomly check a few boxes.

Sure enough, the leather armor inside was intact on the outside, but rotten inside. It tore apart with just a few tears and was completely unusable.

The longsword, on the other hand, was dull in color, with a rough blade, and upon closer inspection, it had many rust spots.

Li Erlong picked up a long sword and snapped it in two with a sharp crack.

A surge of anger welled up in his eyes, the veins on his neck bulged slightly, and he gripped the broken knife tightly in his right hand as he approached the round-faced Zhang Ku.

He tossed the broken sword at the feet of the round-faced palm-wielder, his voice as cold as ice, "Explain yourself! What happened here?"

The round-faced man's palms were sweaty, his eyes darting around, and he stammered, "I don't know either."

Li Erlong was so angry he laughed. He pointed at the round-faced clerk's nose and cursed him.

"Bullshit! If you don't know, who does?! Since you're not willing to explain, then replace all of these!"

The round-faced warehouse manager looked distressed. "We can't change it. The warehouse manager only arranged this batch of goods for you."

Li Erlong grabbed the round-faced man again, roaring, "These are the guys who risked their lives on the battlefield! If you don't get me some good ones back today, I'm not finished with you!"

Just as Li Erlong's roar subsided, a familiar voice rang out behind them. The voice was deep but powerful, clearly reaching everyone's ears.

"Change what? Do you think the quartermasters dare to play tricks on us?"

Li Erlong turned his head and saw that Zhao Daxuan was leading his warhorse over.

"I could hear you yelling from far away, what's going on?"

Zhao Daxuan stood in front of the group, glanced at the round-faced Zhang Ku who was being held in mid-air by Li Erlong, and looked at Li Erlong.

Li Erlong then told Zhao Daxuan the whole story. After listening, Zhao Daxuan frowned slightly, stepped forward, stepped on the broken blade, and twisted it with his foot, crushing the blade to pieces.

The round-faced shopkeeper watched this scene, his eyes twitching, and his face showing an expression that was even more unsightly than crying.

Zhao Daxuan didn't bother with words, and spoke in a calm but undeniable tone that sent chills down people's spines.

"I am Zhao Daxuan. Go and call someone you can speak to. If this matter is not resolved immediately, I will treat it as a delay in our battle."

The round-faced treasurer bowed repeatedly, his voice trembling as he spoke, "I will bring Lord Treasurer out right away. Please wait a moment, sir."

After saying that, he turned and fled as if he were running away. Zhao Daxuan and the others stood there and waited for a full quarter of an hour.

"Sir, aren't they deliberately keeping us waiting?" Li Erlong suppressed his anger as he looked at Zhao Daxuan.

Zhao Daxuan's expression remained calm and composed. He gently stroked the hilt of the sword at his waist, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.

"It's alright, let's wait a little longer."

Li Erlong's face was full of anger. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then he heard footsteps beside him.

Turning around, I saw the round-faced shopkeeper who had just left following a middle-aged man with a ruddy complexion. The two of them were leading a group of people as they strolled over.

The middle-aged man was none other than Wang Chunhe, the treasury administrator.

As soon as he stood still, he put his hands behind his back and looked down at everyone present.

"Who the hell is so inconsiderate as to cause trouble at my supply depot? Do they even want their military pay anymore?"

"I don't care who you are. If you come to my quartermaster camp to collect military supplies, you must follow our rules. Take them and leave. Don't delay our business."

"Asking so many questions, if you're so capable, go and provide your own military supplies!"

Just as the other person was speaking, Zhao Daxuan felt a strong smell of alcohol on his face and couldn't help but frown.

He looked at the other person with icy eyes.

"So you're the warehouse manager? I'll give you half an hour to replace this junk with brand new, usable equipment!"

Wang Chunhe scoffed.

"Just anyone walking in wants to exchange equipment? This is a supply depot, not a wishing well! No exchanges! Take it or leave it, get out!"

Zhao Daxuan's eyes suddenly narrowed, his aura turned icy, and his voice carried a hint of suppressed ruthlessness.

"Say it again!"

The round-faced palm holder felt a chill run through his body, and the hairs on his body stood on end. He subconsciously took a step back.

However, Wang Chunhe seemed oblivious. He opened his hazy, drunken eyes and glanced at Zhao Daxuan.

"No trade! Take it or leave it..."

Before he could finish speaking, Zhao Daxuan suddenly lunged forward, his long sword slicing across Wang Chunhe's neck. A flash of cold light, and a head fell to the ground.

After Zhao Daxuan swung his knife, he dodged and retreated again.

Blood gushed out from Wang Chunhe's severed neck, soaking the round-faced palm guard beside him, leaving him covered in blood.

Wang Chunhe's headless corpse swayed in place before collapsing backward, powerless.

The round-faced palm-wielder instinctively grabbed it, but when he saw the headless corpse in his arms, a chill ran down his spine, and he abruptly pushed it away.

"Ah!! Someone's dead!!!"

The round-faced warehouse manager screamed, attracting a group of soldiers from the surrounding quartermaster camp. Upon seeing the headless corpse on the ground, they were immediately thrown into an uproar.

Zhao Daxuan sheathed his longsword, which was spotless, looked at the crowd around him, and spoke in a cold voice.

"Now that the Tartars are pressing in, and the entire army is under martial law, this man is openly drinking during the day, showing no respect for military discipline. He is also issued rotten armor and brittle blades, using inferior equipment to deceive our troops. He intends to kill our army and is tantamount to colluding with the enemy!"

"Two crimes combined, death is the only punishment!"

"I, the captain, am under orders from the general to execute first and report later. Today, I will kill him here as a warning to others!"

"You may relay these words to your superior. If you have any objections, feel free to come to me!"

Having said that, he looked at the round-faced warehouse manager who stood there dumbfounded, and coldly shouted, "Hurry up and replace our military supplies!"

The round-faced shopkeeper jumped up and quickly replied, "Yes, yes, I'll go right away!"

Having said that, he disregarded the blood covering his body and turned to run away, tumbling and crawling.

The people present looked at each other, unsure of how to respond. Some quick-witted individuals slowly retreated and quietly left to report the incident.
