The blind boss's nanny
Chapter 169 You clearly promised me!
During meals, she always liked to pile the best dishes around his bowl, describing them in an exaggerated tone:
"These shrimp are incredibly bouncy and springy! And these greens are as green as jade! Chairman, you must try them!"
As he spoke, he secretly picked up a chopstick and put it in his mouth, his eyes squinting with satisfaction.
He would obediently reach for the dishes she recommended, but as he chewed, his gaze would linger on her puffed-up cheeks and bright eyes.
The genuine concern in her eyes and her effort to make him happy were so clear that they warmed his heart.
Of course, what dazzled him most were those intimate moments.
When she thought the darkness was her best cover, she shed all pretense and became completely immersed in her instinctive reactions... her hazy, reddened eyes, her unconsciously bitten lower lip, the tense yet relaxed insteps when aroused, her sweaty bangs clinging to her smooth skin...
Every subtle expression and tremor was completely imprinted on his retina, more profound and thrilling than any touch.
She would secretly trace the outline of his abs with her fingertips, then quickly withdraw her hand, pretending nothing had happened;
When she was exhausted afterwards, she would cling to him like a koala and whisper, "Chairman, how come you have such good stamina?"
She might even sneak a kiss on his chin in the early morning while he pretends to be asleep, then quickly retreat back into the covers, thinking she's gotten away with it.
In front of him, she was gradually revealing the most authentic, slightly cunning, mischievous, and vibrant Lin Xiaoman.
Lu Tingzhao perfectly embodies the role of the chairman who "depends on her" and "needs her".
On the surface, nothing has changed. He will still show a little "confusion" or "searching" when she leaves his sight; he will focus on "looking" in the direction of her voice when she talks about what's happening outside; and he will cooperate with a helpless and indulgent smile when she teases him on purpose.
One acted flawlessly, the other trusted without reservation.
Only when she turned away to busy herself, or when she seemed to be engrossed in something else, would Lu Tingzhao let go of his "confusion" and let his gaze follow her figure intently.
Watching her hum an off-key song while tidying up the room, watching her squat on the floor gently stroking Yuanbao, watching her look at the visa progress update on her phone screen with an expectant yet complicated expression.
Each time, the corners of his mouth would involuntarily turn up, his heart filled with a sense of full satisfaction.
So this is happiness. It can be so tangible.
Specifically, it was the curve of her fluttering eyelashes, the shallow dimples on her cheeks when she smiled, and every moment she wholeheartedly trusted him.
When she was around, even the air felt sweet. Lu Tingzhao was grateful that his "bad luck" had a touch of good luck in it, that she could be by his side.
So he willingly let down his guard and let himself sink into the softness in her gaze, even if it meant "needing to be watched all the time."
Her soft heart is like a warm spring, every ripple of which is born from her.
He is the king who brought light back from the darkness, and she is the precious treasure he willingly shackled to keep in his palm.
The turning point came a week later.
The visa, which should have been sent to the estate on time, has remained undelivered.
Lin Xiaoman's initial anticipation gradually turned into anxiously checking the mailbox several times a day. She would rush to the mailbox outside whenever she had a spare moment, craning her neck to peek inside, or pestering Aunt Mei with questions:
"Aunt Mei, did you receive any mail for me today? The kind that comes from the visa center?"
"Aunt Mei, has the postman come by? Are you sure you haven't missed anything?"
"Aunt Mei..."
Aunt Meryl Streep could only shake her head helplessly each time:
"Wait a little longer, maybe there's been a delay on the way."
Unbeknownst to them, the passport with its brand-new visa page lay quietly in a hidden compartment of Lu Tingzhao's study safe, locked away with his important business documents.
Then, something even more alarming happened to Lin Xiaoman... All the identification documents she kept in her bedroom drawer disappeared.
She searched every corner of the room, even doubting that she had remembered the locations correctly, but those things seemed to have vanished without a trace, as if they had never existed.
By this point, even the slowest person would understand.
In this manor, there is only one person who has both the power and the motive to do such a thing.
A surge of anger, a feeling of being deceived and manipulated, welled up inside her. She practically stormed into Lu Tingzhao's study, pushing the door open without even knocking.
Lu Tingzhao sat relaxed behind his desk, holding the day's financial newspaper. The newspaper was a standard printed edition, without Braille dots...
Lin Xiaoman, overwhelmed by anger at the moment, completely overlooked this detail.
"Lu Tingzhao!"
Her voice rose slightly with excitement, and her chest heaved gently.
"You promised me!"
Upon hearing the sound, Lu Tingzhao slowly folded the newspaper and set it aside. Then, he slightly raised his face and looked in the direction from which the voice came, a hint of doubt appearing on his face at the opportune moment.
"What's wrong? Why are you so angry?"
His completely oblivious expression ignited Lin Xiaoman's anger. She rushed to the desk, placed her hands on the smooth surface, leaned forward, and glared at the pretentious man in front of her.
Why did you take my passport?!
She spoke slowly and deliberately.
"And my ID card! Where did you hide them?"
Lu Tingzhao didn't answer. Instead, he leaned back slightly in his chair, becoming more relaxed. He raised his hand, beckoned his index finger towards himself, then patted his thigh, his tone calm:
"Xiaoman, come here."
He paused, then added,
"Get in."
This flippant and domineering act seemed particularly abrupt and...insulting in this serious confrontation.
Lin Xiaoman felt a lump in her throat, her face turning even redder; this time, it was from anger.
"I don't!"
She refused decisively, her voice tinged with suppressed emotion.
"You haven't answered my question yet! What gives you the right to do this? You promised to let me go!"
Lu Tingzhao looked at her, her eyes red with anger, like a little beast. He chuckled very softly, the low sound spreading through the tense air.
"Come sit down."
He repeated, his voice softening, with a coaxing tone that also sounded like a threat.
"Get in, and I'll tell you."
The air seemed to freeze.
Anger and some invisible pressure were silently vying for power between the two.
One stood in the light, trembling with rage, while the other sat calmly in the shadows, as if he had her cornered.
Lin Xiaoman glared at him, her chest heaving violently several times, but in the end she gritted her teeth and reluctantly sat on his lap.
