The blind boss's nanny

Chapter 2 gave me a real fright

At first, she was drawing a map in her mind: turn left, turn right, get on the overpass...

Later, Lin Xiaoman gave up completely; she simply couldn't remember it.

On the way, she tried to subtly ask the driver:

"Is our mysterious employer male or female? Is she easy to get along with? Does she have any special...quirks?"

Unfortunately, the other party refused to reveal a single word.

The last stretch of road was smooth and quiet, with seemingly no other cars or traffic lights.

"get off."

Lin Xiaoman pulled off her blindfold, and the glaring sunlight made her squint.

"Do you see that over there?"

The driver impatiently pointed to a certain spot, and Lin Xiaoman saw a fairytale castle.

"Go to that house and report for duty yourself."

She got out of the car, and before she could even stand up straight, the car behind her turned around and drove away.

"Hey! Wait a minute! I haven't asked clearly yet!"

Lin Xiaoman chased after it for a few steps, but could only watch helplessly as the car turned into a small black dot and disappeared completely.

A chill ran from the soles of my feet to the top of my head.

Her heart began to pound wildly, and feelings of regret crept over her.

Unfortunately, there's no going back.

Without any means of transportation, they had no idea where they were in the most remote corner of the world.

She composed herself and began to observe her surroundings.

Having grown accustomed to the crowded steel jungle of the city, Lin Xiaoman had never seen such a vast and pleasant place before.

It was as quiet as a mountain village in the wilderness, but she had no mind to appreciate the scenery because the castle was too far away.

Is she supposed to walk there on her own two legs? That would take half an hour, wouldn't it?

Just as she was inwardly groaning, her gaze caught sight of a brand-new Porsche parked not far away.

She tentatively reached out and pulled the car door, and it opened! Even more surprisingly, the car key was still in the ignition.

Lin Xiaoman took a deep breath, plopped down in the driver's seat, and turned the key.

Although she had never driven such a nice car before, she had a driver's license.

Yes, this should be her first test.

Regardless of whether it's a dragon's den or a tiger's lair ahead, we're already here!

Before long, a magnificent European-style villa came into view.

She had just parked the car, her feet not even touching the ground, when she heard a crisp "click" sound overhead...

She recognized the sound; it had been shown in movies countless times—it was the sound of a gun being deactivated.

Lin Xiaoman's neck stiffened, and she slowly raised her head.

On the upper right observation deck, a muscular man dressed in black, his clothes almost bursting out of their fabric, was "greeting" her affectionately with the dark muzzle of a gun.

The will to survive instantly surged!

Lin Xiaoman raised both hands with lightning speed, her movements precise and standard:

"Have mercy, sir! I'm one of them! I'm the new nanny, the licensed one!"

The burly man in black remained expressionless, his gun barrel motionless. He simply picked up the walkie-talkie with his left hand and whispered a few words.

Only after receiving a response from the other end of the walkie-talkie did he finally lower his gun, uttering two words in a harsh tone:

"Go in."

Lin Xiaoman finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a chill run down her back; she had almost broken out in a cold sweat.

Sure enough, a million-dollar annual salary isn't so easy to earn.

She pushed open the heavy, ornate iron door, her steps trembling.

The path leading to the main house was lined with meticulously maintained gardens, but she had no mood to appreciate them at all. Her mind was filled with the scene from earlier, and her legs felt weak.

Why is this road so long!

After finally managing to get to the door, she took a deep breath, mentally prepared herself for three seconds, and then gently knocked on the door.

"Please come in."

A deep male voice came from inside; the tone was nice, but it was a bit chilly.

Lin Xiaoman pushed open the door and entered. A man in a sharp suit and gold-rimmed glasses was sitting on the sofa in the center of the living room.

He raised his wrist, glanced at his watch, and spoke expressionlessly:

"Ms. Lin, you are 4 minutes and 15 seconds later than expected."

Lin Xiaoman opened her mouth, but before she could utter her excuse of "not being familiar with the area," the man had already stood up nimbly, picked up his coat, and handed her an A4 sheet of paper.

"Your worksheet. If you have any questions, ask Aunt May."

He spoke steadily, without uttering a single unnecessary word, his gaze sweeping over her before turning to the window.

"That black Porsche by the gate is yours to arrange."

Before Lin Xiaoman could get a good look at him or ask any questions, the man had already brushed past her, and soon, the sound of a car engine driving away could be heard outside the door.

From entering to leaving, it takes no more than a minute.

Lin Xiaoman looked down at the paper, which was a detailed worksheet, as detailed as an instruction manual, listing all sorts of requirements.

The words themselves scream "professional" and "not easy to deal with."

Just then, a middle-aged woman with a serious expression came down the stairs.

Lin Xiaoman took the initiative to greet him, but the other person frowned and looked her up and down at her clothes.

"Go take a shower and change your clothes first."

Aunt May's tone was harsh.

"The synthetic fabric you're wearing has static electricity, and the hard soles of your shoes will scratch the floor."

Lin Xiaoman didn't mind at all. She had worked in many industries, mostly in the service sector.

Sometimes, straightforward requests are more efficient.

The two took the elevator to the 6th floor. Inside the elevator, Aunt Mei quickly gave instructions:

"The chairman lives on the 6th floor. This is the elevator card; you must stay by his side at all times every day..."

The elevator arrived, and Aunt Mei remained inside the car:

"Get ready, then go serve the chairman dinner."

"But...didn't the chairman just go out?"

Lin Xiaoman was stunned.

Meryl Streep remained expressionless.

"The chairman is in his room. Go see him in a bit."

Pushing open the door to the nanny's room, one is greeted by an English-style chandelier and velvet sofa, carpeted throughout, with a soaring ceiling resembling a stage...

This was the most luxurious room she had ever seen.

Without time to look closely, she quickly washed up, changed into the clothes and shoes Aunt Mei had just given her, and walked towards the tightly closed door across the street.

She knocked on the door.

"Chairman, are you there?"

A deep, cold voice came from inside.

"Come in."

Lin Xiaoman pushed open the door and was instantly dumbfounded... In broad daylight, the room was pitch black! The curtains were drawn tightly shut, and not a single light was on.

She muttered to herself.

"Can the people inside see anything? Aren't they afraid of bumping into table corners while walking?"

She tentatively called out into the darkness:

"Hello?"

"Um."

It was the same voice, coming from deep within the room.
