The blind boss's nanny

Chapter 6 A Warm Body

Well, it's still better than those who cheat and shirk responsibility.

"Thank you, Aunt May!"

Lin Xiaoman picked up the box of clothes, bowed to her,

"I'm afraid the chairman will call me, I need to go upstairs!"

Watching her cheerful figure run away, Aunt Mei shook her head helplessly.

This girl is really obsessed with money.

However... I don't dislike it.

Lin Xiaoman tiptoed back to the sixth floor, where Lu Tingzhao's room was already quiet.

Perhaps he has already rested.

She leaned close to the door and whispered:

"Chairman, I'll be standing guard at the door. Please call me if you need anything."

no respond.

The cot was so hard it hurt, but Lin Xiaoman had slept in much worse ones, so it wasn't unbearable.

A faint scent of cedarwood wafted in the air, but Lin Xiaoman was wide awake.

She considered herself a weed, capable of surviving anywhere.

University dorms, shared apartment partitions, my parents' sofa... I've moved around so many places over the years, I'm used to it all.

But when I close my eyes, what always comes to mind is the old courtyard of "Sunshine Home".

When she was eight years old, her grandmother knelt before Lin Jiaqi before she died, begging him to take her in.

She was clearly over the age limit and didn't meet the requirements. But somehow, her grandmother managed to keep her in that yard filled with the scent of laundry detergent.

She learned almost all of her skills there.

There, she learned how to use physical methods to lower a feverish child's temperature, accurately calculate the weekly food rations for dozens of children, and know how to comfort her younger siblings who were having nightmares.

Of course, Lin Langqing's figure is always present in my memory.

Lin Langqing is the son of Dean Lin Jiaqi.

Her mother scolded her for being a traitor, saying that she would give money to others but wouldn't use it to pay off her brother's debts.

But how could they understand? Until yesterday, Lin Langqing was her real family.

So even though she was swindled out of all her savings, she couldn't bring herself to take revenge on him.

It wasn't that she was particularly magnanimous; it was simply that Lin Jiaqi's kindness was too great.

As the sky began to lighten with the first hint of dawn, Lin Xiaoman finally drifted off to sleep and closed her eyes.

In a half-dream, half-awake state, she seemed to return to that sun-drenched courtyard, where the scent of soapberries from the laundry room wafted under the old locust tree.

As dawn broke, Lu Tingzhao opened his eyes, only to be greeted by darkness once again.

He didn't know how many days it had been since he lost his sight; he only knew that he still hadn't gotten used to it.

After sitting quietly on the bed for a moment, he groped his way to get up.

He deliberately made some noise, but there was no response from outside the door.

He could have pressed the call button, but what if... he'd never get better? This thought had been flashing through his mind lately.

This thought made him withdraw his hand.

He had no choice but to go to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face by himself. He could manage to do these things by himself, but it took him countless failures before he finally succeeded.

After a fumbling attempt to wash up, he still hadn't quite mastered the skill of changing his own clothes. He whispered to the air:

"....."

That nanny, what was her name again?

I can't remember right now.

"Hey you, come in here for a second."

It was quiet outside the door.

As he tentatively stepped out of the room, he suddenly tripped over something and fell forward uncontrollably.

"Hmm!"

Lin Xiaoman, who was counting money in her dream, was suddenly woken up by a warm body pressing down on her.

She opened her eyes to a magnified handsome face, and instantly became fully awake:

"Chairman! Why did you come out by yourself?!"

Lu Tingzhao gritted his teeth:

"Help me up first."

Lin Xiaoman wanted to cry but had no tears:

"You're pressing down on me... I can't move!"

Lu Tingzhao took a deep breath and slowly groped his way to prop himself up.

Lin Xiaoman quickly got up and helped him stand up. Lu Tingzhao used her strength to steady himself.

Seeing the man's taut jawline, she quickly apologized:

"Chairman, I'm so sorry! I didn't expect you to come out on your own..."

The man turned to face her at the sound.

Even though she knew he couldn't see, Lin Xiaoman felt that his gaze was like a knife.

"Am I supposed to stay in my room the whole time?"

"I was planning to put it away after you woke up..."

She defended herself in a low voice.

Lu Tingzhao sneered:

"What time is it now? My work schedule is clearly written on my work schedule."

Lin Xiaoman immediately wilted.

It's so quiet here, no horns, no square dance music, and she's sleeping so soundly!

Even the chairman didn't hear it when he got up!

"Take it away."

Lu Tingzhao pointed to the cot,

"From now on, I never want to see it again."

Lin Xiaoman nodded obediently:

"Yes, Chairman."

Silently adding in my mind: You couldn't see it anyway.

Lin Xiaoman nervously served Lu Tingzhao breakfast.

Aunt Mei stood aside and reported on the day's arrangements, from appliance repairs to seedling maintenance, leaving no detail unattended.

She listened intently, mainly because she was afraid that Lu Tingzhao would tell Aunt Mei about how she had caused him to fall that morning.

She didn't want to lose such a good job.

Until Aunt May changed the subject:

"Chairman, are you satisfied with Lin Xiaoman's performance?"

Lin Xiaoman held her breath instantly.

But Lu Tingzhao calmly retorted:

Who is Lin Xiaoman?

"Chairman, it's me!"

She couldn't help but chime in.

The air froze for a few seconds.

The man then calmly commented:

"generally."

There was no criticism, but there was not a single word of praise either.

Lin Xiaoman glanced furtively at Aunt Mei, but the latter didn't even look at her and continued speaking to Lu Tingzhao:

"Then let's try it out for a few more days. If it doesn't work, we'll find someone else."

Saying such things in front of the person involved is incredibly hurtful!

Lin Xiaoman silently grumbled to herself, feeling annoyed, but she still had to keep smiling.

After breakfast, Lu Tingzhao started a conference call in his study.

Lu Tingxi and Qin Xiu took turns reporting on the company's agenda for the day. He listened attentively, occasionally giving concise instructions.

Lin Xiaoman quietly withdrew and found Aunt Mei, who was directing the cold chain transportation.

Organic ingredients air-freighted from all over the world are being carefully moved into the storage room.

"Aunt Mei, what should we do with that cot?"

Aunt May didn't even turn her head:

"Didn't you insist on having this yesterday?"

Lin Xiaoman muttered to herself:

"The chairman doesn't like it..."

"Then throw it away."

Aunt Mei was quick and efficient; she turned around and went to check the temperature of the ingredients.

I didn't ask Lu Tingzhao why he disliked it; perhaps his dislike didn't need a reason.

Lin Xiaoman was taken aback.

Such a good thing... lost?

Lin Xiaoman struggled to move the cot down, looking at the almost brand-new cot in her hands.

She knew this brand; it was an overseas brand specializing in outdoor sports, known for its superior quality and designs, though it wasn't cheap.

She had heard Aunt Mei mention that Lu Tingzhao's sister had once gone camping with her friends on a whim, bought a lot of equipment, used it only once, and then left it in the warehouse.

What a waste! They could sell for several thousand on a secondhand platform!

As she walked out, heartbroken, she suddenly heard someone shout:

"Hello!"

She looked up and saw the expressionless man who had pointed a gun at her yesterday leaning out of the treehouse window... This time, he wasn't holding a gun.
