The blind boss's nanny

Chapter 75 The Last Time I Came Here

Zhuang Guangyao was startled by her sudden outburst of anger and shrank back, but quickly straightened his neck and put on a rogue-like expression:

"What are you doing? Did I say something wrong? He's just a blind man... Sis, you can't forget your roots just because you have a new backer! If it weren't for my parents' kindness in picking you up from the snow, you would have been—"

"I have no money."

Lin Xiaoman interrupted his usual refrain of "the kindness of raising me," her tone icy.

"No money?"

Zhuang Guangyao raised his voice, attracting the attention of passersby.

"Lin Xiaoman, you've really gone too far! Now it's time for you to repay our family!"

Looking at his entitled and demanding face, Lin Xiaoman's mind raced. Suddenly, she sighed and adopted a tone of helplessness and sympathy:

"Guangyao, it's not that I don't want to help you. You know, all the money I saved up was swindled away by that bastard Lin Langqing. I lost everything."

Zhuang Guangyao was taken aback:

"So...you must have earned some new money this time working as a nanny, right?"

Without a second thought, Lin Xiaoman's face showed resentment and grievance:

"I did make some money, but a couple of days ago... he came to my door and took it all! He said it was a loan, but it was practically robbery!"

She looked at Zhuang Guangyao's eyes, which widened instantly, and lowered her voice:

"If you can get it back from him, no matter how much, it's all yours."

Zhuang Guangyao's eyes immediately lit up, then were filled with greed and rage:

"Damn it! That bastard Lin Langqing, he's always wanting more than he has! He cheated you out of your money and now he dares to touch mine?!"

He rubbed his hands together, turned around and charged in another direction, cursing under his breath:

"You bastard! You've really messed with me! I'll beat the shit out of you..."

Lin Xiaoman stood there, watching the foolish and greedy figure run away cursing and disappearing around the street corner.

The afternoon sun was still dazzling, so she raised her hand to shield her eyes, and a smile slowly spread across her lips.

"Idiot."

She uttered two words softly.

Lin Xiaoman carefully prepared gifts for everyone at A Zhe's birthday party.

Aunt Mei is a neck massager, Leng Feng is a pair of high-quality leather gloves, A Zhe is given the latest noise-canceling headphones, and even Yuan Bao has a handmade bag of dried meat snacks.

She remembers everyone who has shown her kindness.

When Lu Xingyuan arrived to pick her up in his flashy sports car, he saw Lin Xiaoman holding and carrying a variety of carefully wrapped gift boxes and exclaimed "Wow!" in an exaggerated manner.

"Nanny sister,"

He rested his arm on the car window and asked with a grin,

"With so many gifts, is there any for me?"

Lin Xiaoman was taken aback; she really hadn't prepared for this young master.

Besides, a rich young master like him has seen all sorts of good things, why would he care about her little gesture?

But when Lu Xingyuan found out, he curled his lip and said sullenly:

"I knew it, you must have forgotten about me..."

That look of disappointment yet feigned indifference made Lin Xiaoman feel inexplicably uneasy.

Outside the car window, the lush grass in the green belt swayed gently in the wind. Lin Xiaoman had a sudden inspiration.

"etc!"

She shouted, opened the car door, and ran to the roadside.

Slender fingers deftly fluttered, entwined, and knotted among the blades of grass.

Ten minutes later, she got back into the car and handed Lu Xingyuan a lifelike green grasshopper made of grass stems, its antennae still trembling slightly.

"Here, this is your belated gift!"

Lu Xingyuan's eyes lit up immediately.

"You can do this too?"

He took the grasshopper made of straw, as if it were some precious treasure, and carefully placed it on the center console of the sports car, grinning from ear to ear:

"Look! My gift was handmade by Sister Xiaoman, it's different from all the ones they bought! It's one of a kind!"

Last time she came, she was blindfolded, and when she left, she was in a terrible state. Lin Xiaoman had no time to pay attention to her surroundings.

Sitting in the passenger seat of Lu Xingyuan's car, bathed in the bright afternoon sun, she saw the road leading to the manor for the first time.

This is not an ordinary suburban road at all.

After turning off the main road, the car entered a two-lane asphalt road.

The road surface was brand new and smooth, with rows of ginkgo trees on both sides. The leaves were just beginning to turn yellow this season. Lin Xiaoman noticed that the height and spacing of these trees were exactly the same, indicating that they were planted at the same time.

"These trees..."

She couldn't help but ask.

"My older brother's doing."

Lu Xingyuan held the steering wheel with one hand.

"They were planted when this road was built five years ago. He said the ginkgo avenue is beautiful in autumn."

Lin Xiaoman looked out the window. Sunlight filtered through the ginkgo leaves, casting shadows and making the whole road look like a private gallery flowing with golden light.

What surprised her even more was that she drove for nearly ten minutes without encountering a single oncoming car.

"Does this road only lead to the manor?"

"Otherwise what?"

Lu Xingyuan smiled.

"It's exactly 6.6 kilometers from the entrance to the manor gate, and the entire route is under surveillance. See those gray pillars? They're all sensors."

Lin Xiaoman then noticed that there was a metal pillar that blended into the environment every hundred meters or so.

She even spotted a tiny blue logo... the logo of a top domestic security company.

Lin Xiaoman fell silent.

She silently calculated in her mind what kind of financial resources, power, and almost obsessive desire for control it would take to achieve all of this.

The afternoon sunlight clearly outlined the main building of the manor.

The white main building stands quietly at the end of Ginkgo Avenue, like a modern palace.

Lin Xiaoman withdrew her gaze.

She whispered to herself:

This is probably really the last time she'll come here.

Ah Zhe's birthday party was held on the small terrace connected to his bedroom.

This place offers a wide view and is far from the hustle and bustle of the main house; it's his favorite spot.

Lu Xingqi personally cooked an exquisite low-sugar fruit cake, on which the words "Happy Birthday" were written crookedly in blueberry jam.

Aunt Mei then brought out a bowl of steaming longevity noodles. The broth was clear, with a golden poached egg on top, and the aroma was irresistible.

When Lin Xiaoman followed Lu Xingyuan into this familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar space, Aunt Mei was the first to react.

She put down her plate and exclaimed in surprise:

"Xiaoman..."

Ah Zhe, who had been sitting quietly in the corner staring blankly at the cake, suddenly turned around. When he saw Lin Xiaoman, his eyes widened, and his lips moved, but no sound came out.

He jumped up from his chair, stood there helplessly, his fingertips gripping the hem of his clothes tightly, his chest heaving violently, so excited he was almost speechless.

Happy birthday, Ah Zhe!

Lin Xiaoman approached with a smile and handed him the gift.

Ah Zhe took the box, but didn't look down. His gaze remained fixed on her face, as if afraid she would disappear in the blink of an eye.
