"I'm definitely taking this antenna apart today!"

The moment the words left his mouth, Li Haotian moved.

The metal plate beneath his feet emitted a piercing groan, and he charged straight at the wildly spinning inverted pyramid, and the solitary, fanatical figure before it, like a cannonball launched from a gun. The bronze dagger in his hand, illuminated by the cold black light, gleamed with a warm yet resolute crimson light, like a burning life force determined to tear this deathly silent underground space apart.

The air whistled past his ears, everything around him seemed to recede, except for the figure of the black-robed man, which rapidly magnified in his pupils. He poured all his strength, will, and even soul into this charge. This was a strike of all his might, the greatest courage a mortal could muster when facing a godlike foe.

However, when he was still thirty meters away from the man in black robes, the "ancestor" who had appeared completely calm throughout finally moved.

He didn't display any earth-shattering momentum, nor any dazzling magic, nor did he even move an inch from his spot. He simply raised his right hand slowly, with an almost languid posture, his five fingers spread, his palm facing the charging Li Haotian.

With just this simple action, the laws of the entire world seemed to be rewritten in an instant.

"Buzz—"

A muffled, deafening buzzing sound didn't come from his ears, but exploded directly in Li Haotian's mind. He suddenly felt as if he had been plunged into a thick, cold swamp, not air. The space he relied on to traverse seemed to have turned into solid amber, freezing him and his burning fighting spirit in place.

His speed decreased visibly, from the rapid pace of a cannonball to a labored, slow motion. Every inch forward seemed to stir up the frozen spacetime; his muscles groaned under the unbearable strain, and his bones creaked under the intense pressure. He continued to move forward, but those thirty meters now felt like an insurmountable chasm.

"hehe……"

The man in black robes chuckled softly, a laugh filled with condescending pity and disdain, as if watching a moth struggling to escape a spider's web. "Demolish? Child, you don't even deserve to stand before me. Do you think you can defy the authority flowing in our veins with just passion and a sledgehammer of iron?"

His voice wasn't loud, but it clearly pierced every cell of Li Haotian's body, carrying a cold, magical power that began to erode his mind.

"Just watch, see what you're rejecting."

The black-robed man's voice seemed to transform into countless invisible needles, probing into Li Haotian's mind. In an instant, the scene before Li Haotian changed. He was no longer in the underground space, but standing beneath the clouds, the entire city prostrate at his feet. With a casual wave of his hand, skyscrapers rose in response, and mountains and rivers changed course at his will. People worshipped him, calling him "the god of the new world." Power, an absolute power that controlled everything and did as he pleased, filled his limbs and bones; that feeling was more intoxicating than the strongest aphrodisiac.

"This is your destiny," the black-robed man's voice, like a demon's whisper, echoed deep within his consciousness. "Power is not a shackle to seal you, but a crown to crown you! Embrace it, and you will possess everything. Your laughable companions, everything you sought to protect, will become the foundation stones beneath your throne!"

The illusion shifted again. He saw Liu Hu and Su Wan being besieged by a group of bizarre monsters, on the verge of death. This time, however, he no longer roared helplessly; with a mere cold glint in his eyes, the monsters turned to ashes. He effortlessly saved everything, becoming an omnipotent hero.

"Look, you can be a savior, instead of being a powerless brute like you are now."

"No..." Li Haotian squeezed out a single word through gritted teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, large beads of sweat sliding down his resolute cheeks. He could feel his will being corrupted and shaken by the temptation originating from his bloodline. The feeling of that power was simply too wonderful, like poison, known to be deadly, yet still irresistible.

"roar!"

Just as Li Haotian's will was about to collapse, a loud shout pulled him back to reality. It was Liu Hu! He saw Li Haotian frozen in mid-air, looking miserable, his eyes bloodshot as he raised his assault rifle and fired wildly at the man in black.

"Da da da da!"

Flames spewed, and bullets rained down like a storm. However, a bizarre scene unfolded. Those bullets, powerful enough to tear through steel plates, seemed to strike an invisible wall a meter away from the black-robed man, freezing in mid-air before falling to the ground with a clatter, without even causing a ripple.

"It's useless." The man in black didn't even glance at Liu Hu, simply stating the words while his gaze remained fixed on Li Haotian, continuing his mental erosion. "Struggling will only make your demise seem more ridiculous."

At the same time, Su Wan moved as well. She let out a delicate shout, her hands forming a complex hand seal, and a pale blue energy wave shot out from her palms, carrying a purifying aura, directly striking the man in black. This was one of her strongest attacks.

Unfortunately, the result was the same. When the energy wave approached the man in black, it was like a stone thrown into the ocean, failing to even make a ripple before being swallowed up by the endless darkness and disappearing without a trace.

Liu Hu and Su Wan's faces instantly turned deathly pale. Their proud attacks were truly like child's playthings in front of this monster who had lived for three hundred years.

Despair, like a plague, began to spread within the team.

"Do you see that, Haotian?" The black-robed man's voice grew even more seductive. "This is what you're protecting, a bunch of fragile ants. And I can grant you and them eternal power. All you have to do is... nod."

Li Haotian remained frozen in mid-air, the physical pain and mental pressure almost suffocating him. The helpless and desperate expressions on Liu Hu and Su Wan's faces, as seen in his vision, formed a stark contrast to the omnipotent vision of a god in his mind, one who controlled everything and saved the world.

His will is undergoing an unprecedented and violent storm. To yield, or to resist? To embrace that intoxicating power, or to protect this fragile mortal body?

His eyes were bloodshot, and that tiny spark of defiance flickered in the raging storm.
